  1. well, coming from an alfa 166 to a lexus GS300 i feel both unbiased and best qualified to comment here.. first, (cirtainly for the flagship 166 anyway) some myths... rust. no.. not for a long time, my 2000 model didn't have a spec on it, paint finish was notably better than the lexus too, far less prone to stone chips (both cars are within 1000 miles of eachother) electrics, nope, not in the slightest, everything worked perfectly. build.. awesome, in the 166 (dont know about the lesser models) its easily equal to the lexus, the door shut sound for example is definatley better, and nothing was loose or fell off.. reliability, hard to say, mine suffered a couple of very major expensive failures, all down to past neglect, but the opinion on carsurvey.org is the 166 is a fantastic car. will i own another? definatley, its a fantastic drive, responsive comfortable (better seats than the lexus) well built, its not as quiet or as quick as the lexus, but the key is how its been looked after. treat it as a mondeo, and its going to break, treat it like a baby maserati, and you should be fine. i really like the lexus, and i have greater confidence in it, but i am going to be really sad to see the alfa go.
  2. paid *just* over £1000 for it..considering it has 10 months MOT and 6 months tax, i'd say it wasn't a bad price. the cooling fault is definatley the thermostat, knew about it, the only thing that can make an enigne run too cool is the stat, simply because its not closing when it should, so its no big deal. the other fault i knew about was a blowing exhaust, that was sorted yesterday, just a joint blowing, total cost - £25
  3. would this work? how do you program it? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-KEY-FOB-Color...1QQcmdZViewItem
  4. i bought a 94 GS300 at the weekend, but i was only given the red master key, lexus milton keynes didn't seem very optomistic about getting the right one, so any idea where i can get the correct key with the remote locking buttons from?
  5. ok, its probably been asked a million times before, but i tried a search and couldn't find anything.. would IS200 wheels fit a 94 GS300 without any spacers? all i could verify is that the bore and PCD is the same, but couldn't find any info on backspacing
  6. i had the same thing with my old chevy camaro when the rad cap vent hole was blocked.. my 94 GS300 has a stuck thermostat, its wide open so its over cooling.. will try and get round to sorting that this weekend
