  1. Aido That is truly superb - everything I need to know is in that link - thanks so much! I've been back to National Tyres and had it up on the ramps - the chap I know put a bit of welding filler in for me & suggested I go to a local specialist exhaust maunfacturer as the boxes are all fine its really just the two pipes running throught the centre section to the back boxes that have given up so there's a chance I just need a couple of bespoke pipes made up which can be welded in situ onto the boxes. Fingers crossed, but at least I know what to do if I need a replacement as I've been able to identify the section as 17420 from your diagram link. Thanks again bud.... Ian
  2. Thanks Aido The chap at ATS said a similar thing - first one he'd heard of - said they should last 15 years+. I'll take it back to National Tyres and get them to identify which part has gone now then I'll give the Lexus dealer a call & gat a quote for supply only - or do you think I can get the parts cheaper from some other approved supplier??
  3. Thanks for that - I'm not sure where the motor actually is - there's nothing obvious under the plastic casing.... anyone have any ideas or a diagram perhaps?
  4. Thanks for the advice Dave - I just tried that but it didn't work. I took the plastic casing off to delve a bit deeper - the toggle switch seems to be working ok as it's making a clicking sound on each up/downstroke but there's no movement. There are a couple of allen key nuts on either side of the steering column above the ball joint for the wheel - I assume I could at least make a manual adjustment by loosening those & moving the wheel up??? I don't want to start loosening nuts on the steering without knowing what I'm doing for obvious reasons....
  5. Hi - has anyone had any success sourcing good (quiet) aftermarket exhaust parts for a GS300 Mk2. My local National Tyres & Autocare Garage tell me that there isn't a alternative to Toyota/Lexus on the market - and they work out about £450 per section fitted - 5 sections......!! The car is 10 years old and has always been kept outside - I live near the North Sea so perhaps it's done well to last as long as it has but I've had to resort to having it welded as a quick fix at a cost of £150 rather than fork out for a new piece. It now seems to have developed a hole elsewhere so it looks like I'm facing the inevitable.... Thanks.. Ian
  6. My baby is 10 years old this month - I've had her from new and have no plans to change anytime soon - great car! All I've ever had to do myself is replace the radio display when the lcd images went haywire - that was fairly straightforward. I now have a problem with the steering wheel automatic adjustment mechanism - as you know, the wheel should move out and drop down to the desired position when the ignition key is first put in and return when the key is removed to allow easy entry/exit to the seat. The wheel is moving backwards and forwards but is locked in the down position. I've tried the manual adjustment button on the side - backwards/forwards works fine but just a single clicking noise on up/down and the wheel doesn't move. Has anyone encountered this - is it easily fixable or does it need to go to my expensive dealer!? Thanks Ian
