  1. They do come up on Ebay every now and then, usually from breakers. I sold one last year. It went to the States.
  2. I was told by Lexus Sheffield that it was 3 years and only for the visible faces of wheels. They refused mine for corrosion on the inside edges and produced a document from Lexus HQ to confirm.
  3. Same here. I've been looking to trade my 27,000 mile 2003 RX SE for a similar year low mileage SC430 but looks as if I'm keeping my RX forever.
  4. I've always used the Wickes loft boarding which comes in a size to fit the hatch and with a bit of pva glue on the tongue and groove the joint doesn't need to be on the joist. I've always wondered how much boarding increases the insulation but haven't managed to find out.
  5. By the way, regarding the transmission of the (non-hybrid) RX, I've read some posts where the car is stated to have a part time 4WD, normally front WD and with the central diff kicking in only when needed. Others claim that the drive is always 50% front, 50% rear. I must say that the car handles like a full time 4WD, but I would like to get a definitive answer to that. Thanks :winky: P.S.: I know that a set of winter tyres is expensive, particularly if you have 17" or 18" wheels, but be sure that the lightest crash into a wall or another car will cost way more, and that's not considering possible personal injuries! The RX 300/350 is permanent 4WD. It's the 400H that is FWD most of the time.
  6. Also 4 wheel drive is only of use when trying to go forwards it's of no use when trying to stop - and that's when the weight is against you. With the wheels locked the ABS wouldn't have had a chance - or does the regeneration override that? We were out at 4am yesterday but my RX stayed in the garage - we were in my wife's 15 year old Vitara with agressive snow tyres on and no problems whatsoever apart from hatchbacks sitting 6 inch off our back end on the way home at 9 am.
  7. Also all LPG cars start on petrol then switch to LPG so small amounts will be used.
  8. It would depend on the type of store. Some items are zero rated for VAT, there are some items that are charged at 5% and some are 17.5% - soon to be 15%. But at 17.5% to 15% you can' reduce it by 2.5% as the retailer loses out - it will be something more like 2.25% - but your argument would hold using that figure for all the 17.5% items. My son has a shop using all 3 VAT rates.
  9. Does it say anything in those regs about HGV's driving about imitating christmas trees? Passed one this morning with about a dozen spot lights - 6 on roof & 6 low level all with sidelamp bulbs lit?
  10. Not taken mine anywhere testing yet as the tyres would be useless. I think the abs / traction control would compensate for the lack of centre locking diff as per freelander. My Range Rover had the fluid coupling limited slip centre diff which seized up as they are prone to do which then produced interesting on road driving. The lack of low box would be more of a problem but again no different to Freelander. Sorry - just re-read first post. I am referring to RX300/350 not 400.
  11. Yes always been 4th November round here. Haloween didn't exist when I was a youngster, seems to have been introduced by schoolteachers and from America?
  12. My old Glowworm is over 35 years old now and each year I look at replacing it with a more modern one as I know that it is costing me extra in gas but I then look at the replacement cost and expected life of the new boiler and put it off for another year. I just wish that the government was more upfront about total costs and not just running costs - and its the same with cars and the retrospective tax isn't it?
  13. I get 23mpg knocking about, 30mpg at 70mph and about 27mpg on the continent at over 80mph. I do tend to accelerate and brake sparingly. I have done 26,000 miles and tyres less than half worn and brake pads less than half worn.
  14. Well I have already made my mind up not to watch any more. What is the point of sitting for 2 hours to have the result overruled? The incident was far less dangerous than the Massa one in the previous race. When did Schumacher ever get points deducted for pushing Williams' cars off the track?
  15. Thanks for your input. I've not been able to do this at the shop due to time and space restrictions. I think that I shall have to try and copy the whole contents of the disk and bring them home to look at them. I've tried adding the Alt characters to the footer but the software is filtering these out and so won't allow me to insert them. I have no way of adding a footer file. Again thanks for the info.
