  1. Cheers lads, thought it had more to give than 130mph! 145mph sounds a lot more realistic than 134mph lol! I did do a forum search for top speed before posting, didnt bring anything like what I was looking for up :( I come on here every few weeks but usually a forum search answers my questions, hence the lack of posts! 153BHP is not bad either, thanks for the answers :)
  2. Just been looking on the internet and everywhere seems to reckon that 134 mph is the top speed on an IS200. I am wondering if anyone on here has ever got their IS past 134mph? Been in an IS doing 130mph before, may or may not have been me driving it, and that felt like it had plenty more to give! I know that this is illegal and etc so if you just want to point out speed limits or tell me anybody doing this speed is stupid, then go to another thread.....lol Just curious if anybody with a heavy foot has ever edged past 134mph, possibly on a German motorway ;) Edit: Also wondering what the standard BHP is on an unmodified IS200? Never figured that 1 out, various sites give different figures....lol
  3. i have just replaced mine. the walk thru guide to getting the old unit out that wozza provided was top notch so get that. the hardest bit is indeed getting the cables out the amp. we removed the bolts on the amp, ended up removing some of the door trim as well to get it out. Took us over an hour to do that and about 15 minutes to do everything else =D the "bypass" cable comes with full fitting instructions off ebay as well.
  4. Right i have been without a CD player for a week now thanks to error 3. Reading through these forums and a few Pms off members have helped a lot. I know that to replace it i need the amp bypass lead which is available on ebay for about £30. I also need a HU (obviously), and im gonna stick the ripspeed touchscreen screen in the car. Only reason for that is to minimise my losses when i upgrade to a is220d next year. Obviously i need some kind of fascia surround for the new CD player but with it being a fold out screen i dont know if this is right. I found this http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/fp2500-lexu...1998-p-317.html for the fascia. Will that work with this http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...55#BVQAWidgetID? There are two people on ebay selling the bypass leads. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lexus-IS200-SE-Sport...1QQcmdZViewItem or http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lexus-is200-se-sport...1QQcmdZViewItem. One is a fiver cheaper but i cant find anyone on here who has bought off him whereas the other guy has good reviews here. I have a bypass lead installation guide thanks to a pm from aaron and if possible im gonna get halfords to fit the screen for me. Its £20 to get it fitted but saves me time and it should work properly that way! I guess im just looking for advice on which parts will make it look best when its installed and will cost me as little as possible :D How do you take the old HU out. I have no stereo keys for it- would halfords have this anyway? And how do i install the fascia. I just need simple as possible instructions to get it done as quick as possible lol. Besides the gypass lead, new HU and fascia do i need anything else? Cheers
  5. where is the amp/sub in the car mate? as i mentioned before im not great with cars and electronics is my weakest point.....I have no idea where the amp/sub is! I have had my eyes on that kenwood for a while and the cheapest price i have found is from the link on the other thread i mentioned. I seem to remember the bypass lead is available on ebay for about £50? That sound right?
  6. Hi, owned my is200 for a couple of weeks now. Ive been browsing this forum for ages and working out things i didnt understand and its been great :D A couple of days after buying the car it started error1 on the cd player. Reading through here i kinda expected something to go wrong with the CD player and the best advice i could find was to get a cd lens cleaner. Bought a cd cleaner, inserted it into the changer and BAM........started whirring and clicking.....i panicked and pressed eject. Whirred a bit more then claimed to have ejected the disc. (unfortunatley it didnt!) Then it went to error3 which gave me a momentary heart attack! Recovered and messed around with it a bit but i cant get any discs out and i cant play them either. Just comes up with error3 after lots of button pressing. Now i know they general advice is to replace it, and im looking at this avenue. But id like to think i could sell the car in the future with a working head unit so is there any way to fix it temporarily. Also how do i go about putting a new head unit in. I was just looking at another thread with a kenwood dvd player for £350 from bass junkies (i think). If i bought something like that how easy is it to install? I know i need an amp bypass lead ( or something like that :P) but what do i do with it. Im not the best when it comes to car electronics (or much car related to be fair) so any advice would be a help. Couple of other things- I have a Y reg is200 se. I had never drove a 6speed til i got this car and it took some getting used to. With my old car i (tried) to stay at around 2000rpm no higher than 3000rpm before changing gear. But at 40mph in 4th gear im at almost 3000rpm and as i want to keep the engine good (not thrashed) for when i sell it i wondered what speeds people change gear at? ie 1st gear up to 15mph, 2nd up to 25mph etc. Would be a great help for my peace of mind if someone could confirm the rpm can be higher without thrashing because its a 24valve. lol The CD player is the only problem i have had so far and i have to say its a very smooth ride. Im loving the acceleration and my last two cars were also 2litres. this just seems a lot quicker than them though. Cheers for any help in advance :D
