  1. Do you want to be able to make calls or just play music from you iphone/ipod? If you just want music get a grom kit, they connect to iphone ipod or usb flash drive, £80+ if you want to make calls then have a look at the parrot Mki9200, £130+ but you will need the toyota sot cable to connect it to the oem stereo. The grom kit just make sure you buy to correct fitment for the Lexus when you buy.
  2. As far as i know its like for like on the numbers mate, what number do you have as there's a few people on here who many have their old one with the same number kicking about their garage or shed? Also on a different matter Lexus them selves are looking for a first year is200, so yours maybe in with a good chance of being the oldest one about!
  3. Did mine last week, y plate 143000 on the clock,a pass and 0 advisors.
  4. With little or no tools to test or trace a faulty wire your best taking it to an auto elccy and get them to check it out for you. Or if theres another member local to you who can help out, auto ecclys your best bet!
  5. OK with the fogs on, try swapping the bulbs over to see if its the bulb or the wiring, i'm goona put it down to bad wires or a faulty connector to the fogs.
  6. Try the bulbs out of the fogs and on a test bench with a 12v power supply to see if they work then test the wires in the bumper to see that they are live? HTH.
  7. Yes as above, the head units mount to plates on the side of your new double din fascia and that in turn fits on to the ac controls, then it goes in the dash as one big unit.
  8. Try flipping the connection plugs as cree bulbs are like leds and only run one way.
  9. Yes Martin that will be fine to power the aerial. Don't apologize for thread jumping mate, were here to help anyway we can.
  10. Just got this off one of my you-tube channels, maybe useful to someone. http://youtu.be/uULttXXYKms
  11. Yes thats the cable you need, the se's and sport models came with a built in amp that lives under the glovebox and passenger side kick trim. This has to be unpluged to connect the new amp-by=pass cable to, which is then ran up the inside of the dash to the new head unit. So the link you gave is correct. Also wehn fitting the new head unit find the aerial cable, it has a black wire attched to it, this black wire is the 12v+ feed to power the signal booster which you must feed 12v+ to give you any decent radio reception!!!! Pm me if you need any more help fitting your new head unit. Martin.
  12. Thanks guys, yes i do send a lot of time keeping the Lex clean and polished, but just last week someone who lives round the corner from me back into the front passenger side bumper popping out the cover for the headlight washer pump, when he got out to look at thedamage he saw me and said " **** it had to be your car i backing into, not some unloved pill of **** off another neighbor"! He didnt want the hassle of going through his insurance so we settled on £265 to fix the damage which he gave me in cash, nice guy shame it was him. Cars getting garaged next month due to a months long holiday in the USA, so gonna wash and wax her before she's put away under her car cover lol.
  13. Bought a set off refubed wheels a few months back and yesterday i got the tyres swapped over. Cleaned polished and sealed them with wax to make it easier to clean them, gave the tyres a coat of rubber trim and also put new caliper decals on! They have a light chrome finish to them which im getting used to, if i dont then the old set's gonna get redone in anthracite and put back on! C&C's welcome.
  14. Good question, cant see why not as their the same car up to the rear doors, so imo i'd say yes. *stands back and waits for someone to blow that theory out the water!*
  15. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^CHEAP!^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  16. Yes i know what you mean, having all my passed cars fail on something or nothing every time to having a car that passes every time (5 of me) is a great feeling.
  17. Cheers of all the feedback and good comms, so nothing to really worry about. Ill wash n wax her before i set off, gonna give the keys to my mate to driver her round the block 2-3 times while i'm away. Cheers, Martin.
  18. Ok, so this years holiday is a months stay in the USA flying around and driving about the place. But i,v only ever left the car on the drive for 2 weeks at a time while away, so was wondering what i really should be doing to her before i leave as not to come home and find locked brakes, flats spots on tyres and rusty disc's. i have a cheap-o car cover that can be tied down to the car to help keep the heavy crap and birds bombs of it, but what else should i be doing too? It's a 2001 Lexus IS200 BTW. Cheers in advanced.
  19. Not knocking your mate but 3-4 hours to do a 4 stage paint correction he must be an octopus!!! To wash a car, clay the paint, clean the paint to just start the correcting stage takes 2-3 hours alone, now a good paint correction can take up to 2-3 days but thats going to the far end of the scale, but i'd say no less that 6 hours to remove swirls and defects in the paint then polish and seal sounds about right to me. Read this post, http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/90734-detailing/
  20. I give machine polishing a go first if you have one, start off by wet sanding area where the scratch is to feather the edges, then polish back with a rotary or dual action polisher. If you dont have the stuff to do this then give a local detailer a call, ask if they do paint correction and get them to pop round and give you a quote. I'd say your looking around £60-£80 to do the door, or £150-£250 to correct the whole car, as if one doors gone bet you a dollar the rest of the car could do with it.
  21. The amp has to be at the lest unscrewed or removed to see the connections as they are in the back side of the amp, have a load of plasters on stand by for bleeding knuckles! KOKO, i think that the connector your holding in your pic is for the satnav, after swaping headunits to a non oem one the satnav will gib=ve a blank screen, so you will need a box of tricks to revive the satnav to its full working state. There was a guy on here selling the satnav box of tricks but cant remember his name sorry.
  22. Do you have a lexus stereo in your car or after market? If its after market you need the number off the front of the one that came out, as thats the one you need to fit the connections. They look the same but you need the same as it had from factory, if its a top loading cd you need a top loader, or the same applies if its a bottom loader! Hope this helps.
