  1. I changed my rear discs and had a complete nightmare, took me about 4 hours to change both back discs and pads. I didnt know you had to turn the cog behind the disc to get it off and thought it was seized or rusted. After banging it with a hammer for 5 minutes i realised but not before a broke the brake shoe hold down cup which keeps one of the springs in place. Not expensive to fix put a real pain getting the part and fitting it. Saved money in the end at least:)
  2. Hi, the only things i could think to do is take out the stereo and check the connections if that doesnt work disconnect the amp then plug it back in, that will reset the stereo. Sounds like a connection problem though. Good luck.
  3. Fixed It!!! Turns out it was the amp after all, found an origional IS200 amp on ebay, switched them round and now iv got my music back :D Was unsure if the amp was the cause cos i coulnt see anything wrong with my origioanl amp, all the components looked perfectly ok, never mind im happy now :)
  4. Hi, cheers for your replys, iv decided to replace the amp to see if that fixes it cos i cant see any other reason for the problem. i like the standard HU so if i can fix the sound problem then ill just stick a Line-level convertor to the rear 6x9's so i can use my amp with a sub. Ill probly run into problems doing this to lol knowing my luck, has anyone done this before? is it straight forward?
  5. been searching the forum to find a topic about fitting an after market amp but cant find one (probly not looking hard enough), i have a great inphase amp, would need to wire it to the boot but dont know how to go about it
  6. No definatly no mute button, iv checked all the wiring behind the stereo and checked all the fuses but cant find anything wrong. Dont think it could be the amp it wouldnt decrease the volume that much just the sound quality. Thanks for your reply :D
  7. I watched a program on discovery a while back (mythbusters) they tested everything to try and fool a speed camera including all the different sprays available but nothing worked. i just got a ticket through the other day, searched the web for days trying to find ways of getting out of it but there is no way, ****ERS!
  8. About getting another key, get one on ebay, like this one- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-3-BUTTON-REMOT...bayphotohosting Get it Cut then have a look here- http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...;hl=program+key Its a realy good topic which explains how to program the key. You will save a fortune doing this, it works to iv done it myself but i did have to program the key twice before it worked. I had a quote for a punto key years ago, £260!!! Good Luck :D
  9. The other day when i got in to my Lex (IS200 SE) on the morning to drive to work there was no volume on my stereo (standard 6 disk CD radio), everything was fine the day before and seemed to just stop working properly overnight, everything seemed to be working fine apart from there was no volume, it can be heard faintly if the volume is turned to full. This is the same for the CD player, Radio and Tape player. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? it seems to be muted but theres no mute button as far as i can see, i have played with all the settings but of coarse have had no luck. I would realy appreciate any input and help. Thanks, Matt.
  10. Hi, if you buy a Lex thats registered before 2001 then the tax is alot cheaper cos its worked out on the engine size, where as now its based on emmissions. Pre 01 car at 1.6 or lower are £125 per year and over 1.6 is £185 per year. In 2009 it will cost you over £300 for the year if its 01 reg or newer. Iv just got a bargain (i think) W reg (2000) Lexus IS200 SE with 65000 miles in mint condition for £4695, will be low on tax and cos its cheap i dont care about the petrol, much
