  1. Sounds like it maybe the steering angle sensor may need resetting or has gone down. This is the zero point calibration. If this is set wrong, like if the battery went flat with the steering wheel turned off centre then that can effect it. If not then its probably the yaw rate sensor. thanks for the reply, are either of these able to be done by a car owner or is it a Le$us garage only? thanks
  2. when I go into a right hand corner faster than my granny would drive into the corner the TCS systems beeps until i get the speed down again. No noise when its a left hand corner. Anyone any ideas? Dont think the power is affected when the tcs goes off. thanks
  3. rear near side wheel bearing. Only £350 fitted. Car had the RAC extended warranty but RAC say this is wear and tear (sp). Guess I need to call them and hre it from the horses mouth. Will see what thebearing on its own would cost.
  4. As the title says I am noticing a rumble when turning right, louder at high speed not noticeable upto around 15mph. Can't work out if it is a bearing or which wheel either. No hub is heating up. any clues. I am waiting for the service department to call me back so I can have them book it in. It is still under the extended warranty I got with the car 5 months ago.
  5. Hi. Glad I have help reduce your fears. It was a witter detachable I purchased for 225 inc del. The wiring was an after market relay unit I took out my Merc. before taking the bar off to sell separate from the car. I am afraid I went the easy option of scotch block but took another live from the interior boot light as they do not go through the ignition so the lights can stay on. Yes there is a cut out on the bumper and you could easily just flex the bumper round it but it made the bckend look as if it had been bumped. let me know if you need any more info. SG I face a similar challenge of fitting a towbar - your comments are reassuring as it seemed a huge undertaking on the face of it when I looked at the fitting instructions available from some towbar sites ! Which towbar was it you fitted and did you HAVE to make a bumper cut or could you have bent / coerced the rear bumper edge to fit ? I see the official Lexus one on the Lexus Tech doc website is actually the Westfalia 335305 detachable (£297 + del off the web for exactly the same model number). Did you use the official Lexus wiring kit which seems to have a cable going all the way back to under the dash (although I suspect this may only be for a 12v feed which can be picked up from the 12v boot socket - may be an issue with leaving sidelights on and the ignition off though ?) or did you use a kit / scotchlocks type solution ? Regards, Dave
  6. Well. just a quick pdate on fitting the towbar. What a simple job. 2 hours all in. you simply remove 6 screws to drop the under body covers at each side of the outer bumper cover. drop the bumper 5 nuts 4 screws. then unbolt the bumper bar from the car 6 bolts the bumper bar is binned now. remove the rubber plugs from the pre drilled holes that already have captive nuts behind them. bolt up the tow bar hich now doubles as the bumper bar. refit the outer bumper cover drop the spare wheel to feed up the iring lom refit under trays remove storage tray from under boot floor connect wiring using the 12v outlet in the boot and lighting wires to the relay box that came with the tobar. test lights fit detachable towball take trailer to dump. the reversing camera is great for reversing up to trailer no more scratches in the bumper.
  7. 2004 RX300 Navigator from Edinburgh Lexus.. firstly what great service Edinburgh provide very friendly and helpful plus the Saturday wash club....what a great idea. Take your car in on a Sat and they will wash, dry and vaccum your car for as long as you own it. As for the car. I had BMWs, then grewup and got a Merc C280 - About to sell if anyone wants one, 1 careful owner (but that owner was the person before me). Thanks to the credit crunch the price of the car was "favourable". Getting a wopping 22 mpg but the merc was only 28mpg for far less car. The insurance is cheaper than the merc though. So far the gadgets in the car are great, reversing camera, sat nav and remote tailgate are my favourites and the stereo is pretty loud. Only problem is I only get to use it Sat & Sun as Mrs Scotchgitt likes it so much. Two jobs I have planned is to fit the detachable towbar I purchase for 200 quid. Lexus quoted 1700 to fit the same thing. Second is fitting tvs in the headrests. quoted 250 quid fitted Lexus wante close to 2000. Then i need to add a media layer from Mapin (100 quid).
