  1. Ishaq, I just left my car there so I don't know how long it took. Perhaps sort a courtesy car first before booking.
  2. For what it is worth, in December 2013 Lexus Reading supplied a water pump for £120, fitted it for £99 and sorted the coolant after so that was around £250 with the VAT on an IS250. I thought it was fair and I needed it done quickly at the time and certainly wasn't in a position to find my own and fit it. Thanks
  3. I would recommend that you get Lexus to have a look then. Lexus Reading diagnosed the water pump on mine (noisy rumble and small leakage) as soon as a technician had a look/listen within a minute and when booked in it was fixed for £250 all in. The leakage was so small that if hadn't affected the coolant level below minimum though. I would imagine that with no heat though you might have a thermostat stuck open as going back many years that was a classic symptom of a car not warming up. Hope that helps and good luck.
  4. I have a 2007 SE with the MM pack and to answer your points: 1.is it definately worth going for one with the multimedia pack in?, how good is the sat nav? Absolutely no brainer. The sound system is brilliant and the use of the rear camera (especially in winter) is very useful. The Sat Nav is OK but I have found issues in the area I live with it just no recognising certain motorway junctions. Another local owner of an RX said his was the same. 2. i'm struggling to see what the differences are between the models, is the SE-L the top one? Can't really help but since I did not like shiny wooden inlays I opted out of the SE-L 3. If i end up going for one with say 50k miles on, will this be an issue?, what is considered high mileage on these? Do your normal checks and I guess the alloys will be very poor at that mileage. Get them swapped. Water pumps go at around 60-70K so listen for a rumble from the front of the engine around the pulley area. 4.I definately want an auto, what are people getting in terms of mpg? Auto is again a no brainer. Test drive both back to back and you'll be converted for sure. MPG I think I have averaged just over 31mpg over the 40K I have driven and on runs I have had a tank average of over 40mpg. Hope that helps and buy one. You will enjoy it for sure. ;-)
  5. Some feedback on this now I have had the work done this morning @ Lexus Reading. They fitted me in with a few days notice, fitted a new water pump, topped up my oil and valeted the IS250 for £250 inc VAT. Outstanding.
  6. If it helps anyone trying to identify the noise this youTube video pretty well covers what noise to expect from a water pump failure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td8252neMiM Thanks
  7. Thanks Exdee for the feedback. I was wondering if others had the issue too but it seems to be a "known" problem for that age/mileage I think. The bearing has to work under a lot of tension from the belt system at the front there I guess. Cheers.
  8. Hello All, Just a question to see if any others have had a similar issue: IS250 is 2007 with 67K miles and I noticed that there was a rumbling noise coming from the belt area at the front of the car. Lexus technician confirmed that it's the water pump bearing failing causing a very slight leak and is a common failure for these cars. Thanks
  9. Good list and to add to it, how about alloy wheel corrosion. Too many postings to list TBH on that one. ;-( Cheers.
  10. Hello All, I would be interested to know what is the highest figures IS250 users (mines an auto) have achieved for distance (Odo) on a tank of petrol and highest Tank Average MPG. I recently managed 465 miles with 6 litres still in the tank and a tank average high of 41.1 that fell to 38.4. Interestingly the tank average figure is rather optimistic after doing the maths needing 58.8 litres to the brim. Cheers.
  11. I saw an F Sport IS300h in my local dealer in the same colour and it did look stunning. Good luck with her and jealous. I'd be interested to know your driving impressions of the IS300h compared to the IS250 V6. Thanks.
  12. @Dave.D this was a proper leave the car for three days for a proper chemical and blast strip down to the alloy and then building the new look with primer, paint and lacqueur. No way a mobile refurbishment could match this. The steps used are on the companies web site but not sure I am allowed to post commercial links here. Cheers
  13. Just a quick note that I'm please with my refurbished rims on my 2007 IS250. Pictures of the front wheels since they inevitably were in the worst condition. The slight shade difference was due to the sunlight. Cheers.
  14. @Bry-Sel Happy reading: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre-Tests/#winter Cheers.
  15. This is my 2nd year of fitting winter tyres to my IS250 and as the previous post said, it transforms it in snow/ice/cold conditions. It enables the car to be used in the most adverse of weather condtions and being softer rubber you will not have any of the tyre slip/scrub on full lock when doing slow turns. I kept my 17" rims on which limited my choice of tyre but have been pleased with the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D, which I think are still around but have been superceeded. Hope that helps.
  16. I've been very happy with LV.com but I'm a little older. Their web site is easy to use to get an online quote and I'm sure it'll be better than £450 at around £260 I think for your age but dependant on your NCD and what options you want. Hope that helps.
  17. I too had the exact same problem after looking through some of the Sat Nav settings, it then would not re-route and no time to arrival. I too then did: - Delete all users - Press Info -> Screen Setting -> Delete personal Data Fixed the Sat Nav issues. Most bizarre. I have now memorised my settings to User1 so hopefully they can be recalled if it ever screws up again. Then paired the mobile and found transfering all the contacts (in one go) via bluetooth using Android worked 1st time. Result!
  18. @kullyb I have run my IS250 on winter tyres now for the past two years and generally get them fitted around November and removed March. They are Dunlop 3D I believe fitted on my normal 17" rims and been very pleased and backup the other comments they are not just for snow...but when it does I've never been stuck yet. Thanks and plenty of other forum topics covering this.
  19. I think this has already been covered both here and many times previously on other postings. It's normal with standard tyres however I do not experience it when using winter tyres, that have a softer compond. Thanks.
  20. I do the same as Shepherd, Lexus Reading supplied and fitted the blades cheaper than getting them from Halfords.
  21. I personally think the Speed Dial is a better option from the MM screen. I'm pretty sure you can use speed dial on the move too. So that's press the phone off hook on the steering wheel, if moving Speed Dial is presented and then select the name/number you want to call from the list you have created. Very simple and sounds less complicated than the Voice operated mode. Hope that helps.
  22. I had all four replaced under the used car warranty before that warranty expired. Hope that helps.
  23. I would also presume that a car of that age will have corroded alloys so see if they can all be replaced. The alloys are notorious for corroding. My 07 plate is on it's 2nd set and I got the 2nd set put on during the "used car warranty" period. Thanks.
  24. Is this noise heard when you are on full lock and at slow speed such as parking? If so, then check this posting and others of a similar nature: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=75660&pid=770194&st=0entry770194 Thanks
