  1. Marty read this and wonder why i'm now driving a Mercedes! http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=51698 Just before Christmas the clutch broke going up a hill in the snow. I rolled back and ended up powerless in a snowdrift, in the middle of mini roundabout! The Mercedes recovery system didn't recognise my car as having a warranty so the time it took to be told i was going to be recovered went on and on. I found the dealers card in the glove compartment and to say the got on the job is an understatement. Recovery, replacement brand new Ford Galaxy(which wasn't bad) and lots of follow up calls. Even the Mercedes specialist popped round a month later to see if things were now OK. Lexus seemed in my short experience to have lost that fighting spirit when it came to customer service and personal decency. Never again.
  2. I haven't needed Mercedes service or care yet so can't comment, but at least it turned up in a serviceble state as opposed my used Lexus. Can't fault the A class personally, good interior knobs and switchgear(not out of a Corolla anyway!) excellent MPGetc. If i had seen the new ML or GL then i wouldn't have wasted all this time and effort at Lexus but there you go.
  3. Guess what????????????????? It's back again....... http://listersgroup.co.uk/Used/Vehicle/Lex....0_SE-L/1019229 Refund maybe
  4. IHPJ i sudgest you take a good look at two threads i have had to make recently..... http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=54766 and best of all read this front start to finish... http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=51698 I eventually got trading standards involved and got a full refund, just after HO found out the boys were on the way round and the papers had been informed. Japan not interested, HO not really interested, me not interested so went to Merc who were interested. A nightmare from start to finish, never again.
  5. Judging by the way my hire car RX400 was full up with balk standard Toyota switchear etc i would try them. Jumped into a Corolla Verso only to find the same steering wheel as the RX. Try sites in the US and A where ripping people off gets you shot.
  6. She said she read the mileage at "about" 56k and i am sure that it went back with 58k. I agreed with her that the dealer wouldn't surely bother to knock off just 2k! If they didn't then why withdraw it from sale? If i was a retailer and i was quized about something i had no guilt about i would still have it there. Maybe it was it's dodgy history, change of plate, suspect repsray paint under the bonnet, alarm going off all the time etc etc etc. Either way i'm glad they have been told that they will be watched and are on their "list".
  7. Phone call from Lincoln trading standards. Dealer warned. Car removed from their stocklist!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Needless to say Mrs Tonker won't be driving a Lexus anytime soon, so had good think. Not only about the quality of car but what we actually need it to do, and with the economic climate how we can be more frugal. I have just bought a Mercedes A class A180CDI Elegance 05 plate!!!! Yes you may laugh, but stop and think. My RX had space for 5 and a good boot. My new A class has space for 5 and a less good boot(3 kids) The trim of the new A class really is every bit as good as a C or and E and being a fat person the seats are very supportive. BUT. If i keep up with the lorries i get 65 MPG, and if i try and keep up with you lot 52MPG. Taking into account our mileage and how much extra diesel costs, we have saved since Monday £45 in fuel costs alone. Now as of today i have a good job so not much of a problem, but if either my wife or i loose our jobs in the current climate we are stuffed hence the granny mobile. Stereo excellent, again seats very good and switch gear all Merc. Comes with a 360 month free recovery package, yes 360 month. Plus Merc gave me an Orchid for the wife which was good timing as i have done my annual trick of forgetting her birthday! Ripped of Merc label and hey presto bl*w jobs are back on the menu. Was £18,765 just over 2 years ago and we got it for £8000 with warranty mats tax diesel MOT and an Orchid!
  9. We should now start taking bets to see how quickly it goes back up. They will say it was a typo, but it is some coincidense that it is typed almost the same as when i bought it. :tsktsk: If anyone is around Lincoln could you get a photo of the Tacho.
  10. They are the old pics from the old advert but i have a print out screen dump of the original advert...52,582 after double checking. Trading standards will investigate and police from Lincoln phoned today to get a link so they can get evidence early on. What would you do if you were Lexus BMW and Listers were found to clock cars.
  11. As you might be aware with my "buying advice" thread i have had massive problems with an RX i bought from Lexus Lincoln. I have now after 200 phone calls and numerous visits to a different dealer got a full, if not protracted refund. But there is one final problem that should worry you all. When i bought the car it had 52,588 miles on it and just over 58,000 when it was returned. Just look at this advert for my car now it's back on their forecourt and look at the mileage. http://listersgroup.co.uk/Used/Vehicle/Lex....0_SE-L/1018554 Police on the way
  12. Now the Tuesday after they were meant to refund the money, had the hire car 5 days and my car 2 months and still no promised refund!! Finance company getting legal dept involved!!!! Lexus Lincoln, a bad start, poor middle and a pathetic and predictably inept ending. Avoid
  13. Well i'm now at witts end. They have finally admitted the car is faulty and they are unable to fix it. They have offered a full refurnd which i accepted. As of today they have MY car that i purchased, and they have JUST collected the hire car under the aggreement that they refund me the money straight away so as i can purchase a replacement. After 2 different employees confirmed that the money would be refunded immediately today i have just phoned to be told "nobody in,will do it monday" They now have both cars plus the V5 for the old one, and i have been told that any damage to their hire car will have to come out of the refund!!!!!!! The hire car came with an insurance agreement that i would have to pay a £250 excess which is fair enough. This is a legally binding agreement between the insurance compay and not these spitefull inept thieves. I have phoned the police to tell them that my goods have been taken under protenses and a crime number has been made for Leus Lincoln. If i wasn't at work tommorow i would wait outside their branch with banners and protest. :tsktsk:
  14. Have now been given 3 options by Lexus Lincoln to sort out THEIR problems. 1 They buy the car back at 2k less than the i paid for it!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2.I keep the car(which i can't as the alarm can't be fixed so i have to lock it with a key=invalid insurance) and they find a replacement!!!!!!!!!! 3.I keep the 400 loan car until they can fix the car that Teeside couldn't do in 3 weeks. Tomorrow i phone trading standards to get my money back. I still haven't got my log book, which for the umteeth time they tell me is on the way. This car was meant to be a "Lexus Approved " car. This my friends clearly means nothing. Any helpfull contacts etc would be appreciated. A full breakdown of this affair is going to every car mag and newspaper we can think of. JDPower already contacted. Please help
