  1. I thought the sports grill was a modification for all IS No it wasn't. Lexus accessory catalog just shows side-skirt kit, rear spoilers, illuminated sill plates - I don't think it is standard on the sport model Yes it was like the tints, LSD & lowered suspension, perforated pedals etc. Maybe the sport grille does look better - but I think the point I am making is that the grille was about the only thing that distinguished a sport at a glance & it reminds me a bit of when loads of standard Minis were tricked out as a Cooper S. As a principle, mods to make a car look better to you are fine, but sorry, fitting bits which tend to make it resemble another model doesn't seem right. However, that's just a personal view which I am sure many don't share. All the sport models I looked at when I bought mine had the same standard grill as the base model. I had to put the sports grill on myself.
  2. Not sure fitting a sports grille to a base model is the right thing to do. Strapping breasts onto a man doesn't turn him into a woman. Base model???? just makes the car look better. I really admire those who use their skill and talent to design/fabricate modifications to enhance the appearance of their car and make it individual. I only slightly less admire those who know their limitations and use mod kits for the same purpose - which results in something a little less individual. However, bolting on bits from models further up the chain is just too close to "forgery" even if that is not the motive. Strangely, nobody seems adds details to top-end models from base models even if they are aesthetically better. I thought the sports grill was a modification for all IS - I don't think it is standard on the sport model. I once swapped some alloy wheels on my Metro for some steel wheels from a base model - does that disprove your statement! Although it wasn't for aesthetic reasons, more due to saving £40 per replacement tyre in the process.
  3. I think you should make your point so that it isn't missed on the same post as your question instead of trying to get your post count up with one post for the question and another for the point! Some people will do anything to get a +1 on their post count!
  4. Will you not still have to have insurance, even if it is SORN, it'd be too big a risk for me not to have it insured.
  5. I ended up jump starting it and went for a long drive and all seems to be well now!
  6. Cheers for all your help, I'll dig out the charger tonight.
  7. It turned over slowly to start with but that stopped after a couple of attempts. Now it's just a clicking sound when I turn the key.
  8. I'm hoping someone can help, How accurate is the voltmeter on the dashboard. I went out to start the car this morning and it wasn't turning over, yet the voltmeter was showing that there is some charge in the battery. Is it likely to be a dead battery and misreading on the dash or something else? Cheers
  9. Lexus Sheffield charged me £250 last year including my LOC discount.
  10. Might be worth trying a few other Lexus dealers in the area - I was quoted around £400 less at Sheffield than at Leeds for 80k service and cambelt. I think the service itself was about £150 cheaper.
  11. I live in Scunny too, When mine was due a cambelt change John Roe wanted to charge a lot more than Lexus Sheffield, even taking into account the travelling. I think the quote for 80k service, cambelt and water pump was something like £1000 at John Roe compared to £600 at Lexus Sheffield. Might be worth looking further afield than Scunthorpe.
  12. Cheers, I'll have a look later on, now it's daylight.
  13. I had to clear my boot out last night and I don't appear to have a boot light at all (unless it's not working) I had a quick look around with a torch but couldn't see one. Whereabouts in the boot should it be? Cheers
