  1. Yes the new models have it turned off, I have just had my dealer turn on CLOSE only by holding the lock button, that way I cant accidently open them as I have done before! but i can close them if they are left down without having to press the ignition button.
  2. Just tried a 2gb stick with my old files and not working. will give it a go later, thank you with some new mp3`s
  3. normski, thanks for the reply. Tried my iphone last night and that works fine pluged into the port. What software do you use to create the .mp3`s? maybe mine are not made right?
  4. Its a 8Gb flash drive, I have also tried a 2.5" 160Gb portable hard drive which spins up fine, with no power issues, but has the same problem reading the tracks. In this day and age i cant believe they have limited it to below 8Gb!!
  5. Hi, Having been playing with my USB socket in the Arm rest, I have no luck with it playing any music. If i Burn a .mp3 CD and put it into the head unit it plays fine, track names everything. If i format a USB stick to fat32 and copy these .mp3 files off the CD to the USB it wont play at all. The USB stick is found, but it just goes through each track for about half a second without playing anything and moves on to the next track. Its like it cant read them, no track name or anything comes up. Any ideas?? Thanks PS. I owned a 220D SEL before, and i can honestly say this model and engine is so much better! Chuffed!!
  6. The mass air flow sensor could possibly need a clean, although i looked at mine first and to be honest i would doubt looking at its design it could get that dirty. Its a very simple one. Again very easy to clean, its situated on the left of the engine as you look in, in the pipe by the air filter box. two screws (i think from memory) to lift it out. just be carefull not to loose the o ring off the top of it. I used carb cleaner on mine, made no difference in performance.
  7. Have you checked or had checked your EGR valve?? its on the top right of the engine as you look into the bonnet. I have had problems with it sooting up and not closing 100%, this then lets boost pressure leak past into the exhaust. If you plant the throttle you get a lag (most apparent if coasting upto a junction in 2nd and trying to pull out whilst still moving, the car feels really gutless) once the revs get upto around 3K the car pulls again, its because the boost pressure overcomes the leak and the car then revs ok. Only a tiny gap, with it not shutting can cause this problem, my brother (a mechanic) solved the closing problem by soaking the metal part of the valve in diesel for a few hours then cleaning it up. Refiitted was like a new car, more responsive. The valve is actually fairly easy to remove, just a few bolts. Mine never threw a warning light up, prob because the gab was very small, say 3mm, expect if it gets much bigger then the ECU would be notified by the valve, as this fault can throw a light up.
  8. Its the lever that switches where the air is sourced for your cabin vents. It moves a flap across the pollen filter so the air comes from inside the cabin or outside. Depending on what your circulation button is on. From memory if you open the glove box remove the black plastic cover and look at the pollen filter a plastic cover should move up and down when you press the re-circulation button on the climate. You will prob find you can lift yours up and down by hand now. Not sure how its suppose to be held on, did you force the cover up or put it in re-circ mode as you should, if you forced it up to put the new pollen filter in its prob snapped off. Doubt you can buy just that bit, I had trouble with mine but managed to screw it back on with a self tapper. was about 2 years ago, works totally fine now but cant remember the exact procedure of fixing it, sorry.
  9. I have the same problem on my IS220D up/down ok but no in/out. First happened on drivers side then on passanger. I have taken the mirrors apart (not really that fiddly) they have two motors in each mirror, one for up/down and one for in/out. On pressing the direction button i could here the relay in the door clicking so gathered its the actual motor. All the plastic worm drive was fine and all greased well. I popped the little motor out its craddle and it spins freely in hand, put it back in. It then worked several revolutions then stopped again. Removing it again and tapping hard with the back of a screwdriver has allowed it to work for severl months but now has the fault sometimes happening again. I put it down to the motors being the problem. (maybe carbon build up off the brushes?) They are a sealed metal case, crimpted over type motor very much like a Scalextric one. If you could buy them they certainly wouldnt be expensive, but have no idea where! I think the problem of the auto dipping mirrors not always dipping the same amount (which i sometimes get) is because the dip function engages a relay for an amount of time and depending on how eager the motor is to work and spin varys the dip level.
  10. This problem seems to be happening on my IS220D SEL! No problems before, lived in the same house for years with no issues. Over the last few weeks had a couple of times when fobs, door handles and start button wont work. Hasnt happened anywhere else and can sometimes only not work for half hour then totally fine for days. Two diff key fobs both new batteries. Any ideas what is likely to cause the interference? I do live on a housing estate but not that built up.
  11. Martial38 do you have any information on where to wire this in, is it many wires? just wondered if i would be able to fit it. thanks.
  12. Sometimes - but not always, I get a small rattle from somewhere behind the rpm counter / right air vent area. Any ideas on how to remove clocks and fix it? Ta.
  13. Owned two IS200`s & Now IS220D SE-L MM,

    Would love an IS-F!
