  1. hi guys, the subwoofer in my ls430 has started to crackle... a couple of questions 1) how do you remove the subwoofer? i took off the cover (on the parcel shelf) but that hasnt helped.... do you have to unbolt if from the boot? 2) does anybody know if the subwoofer out of a mk4 ls400 fit the ls430? cheers
  2. i remember my CX500 with great affection.... wonderfull bike :) i like the idea of a gesture to other LS owners.... flashing lights always make me think either the police are doing a speed check round the next corner, or the back of my LS is on fire
  3. i have (or rather had) a mk1 ls400, and fitted the clear indicators. I also added the extra bulbs by splicing in a connection like steve did. FWIW.... you need a bulb holder, i used the one from the small indicators on the side of the car (which i replaced with clear indicators that have 3 small LEDs in them) guess i should get on and sell all the custom bits on my old mk1 before i scrap it
  4. very good idea steve the new cd wont read in my laptop.... well, it says it isnt formatted. The old cd reads fine, has 4 big files on it so im guessing it has got corrupted somehow
  5. i managed to get a more upto date sat nav cd for my mk 4 LS400 (cd ver 3.4). It came out of another mk 4 ls400 and was tested before i got it When i put it in my satnav drive, the lexus logo appears.... after a few seconds the screen goes blank.... then a few seconds later the logo reapears. I left it for over 10 minutes, and nothing else happens If i put the original CD back in (ver 2.1) everything works as normal.... sat nav is available almost immediatly I have cleaned the new disc, it looks spotless, but this has made no difference im thinking of getting a cd lens cleaner as a last resort, although as my original cd is working, im guessing it wont make much difference anybody got any ideas?
  6. Who or what is the troll? im pretty sure they are refering to celssior and his negative posts
  7. oh good find.... i did do a search.... but didnt find that thanks.... guess im off to maplins :)
  8. funny enough.... i spent most of the afternoon taking the AC unit apart in my mk4 LS400 to replace the AC LCD backlighrs (both the passenger and drivers LCD are dark at night) As i had done this on my old mk1 ls400 i thought it would be an easy job.... even removed a few bulbs from my mk1 to make the replacement nice and easy boy was i in for a suprise. You have to totally dismantle the mk4 AC display unit..... literally remove the motherboard.... to find the lcd backlights are hidden under a surround.... once i removed that, i found the bulbs.... but they are soldered in, and seem smaller than those on the mk1.... it was too late to go to maplin.... so i re-aseembled everything and will try again when i have more time has anybody done this on a mk4? if so, what bulbs do you use??, they could even be LEDs its difficult to tell with the little cap on the bulb.... they do look a pig to remove tho lol any help appreciated
  9. i will repeat what others are saying..... the LS400 are amazing cars..... ive had a mk1 (which tbh wasnt in great condition.... but was under £400) it went through 3 MOTs without a single problem.... I now have a 98 mk4 and it drives like a new car (less rattles than some new cars tbh) I like the mk4 better..... the inside is imo a nicer place to sit. As for bulbs.... im hoping i dont blow one lol.... but i will say, they definitly light the road better than the old halogens in my mk1
  10. Hi Did it work under test before fitting? Has it got a good earth? Were you not abe to connect into the old aerial wiring. I wouldn't say your actions are silly; many years ago I arrived at my mate's just in time to see him put the drill straight down the side of his new wing due to no masking tape. Now that WAS silly! ok fixed it, somewhow i had wired the +12V and the earth round the wrong way ..... guess that will teach me for remembering which wire was what lol nice to have a working aerial again.... i can go use a car wash now :)
  11. the motor on my original electric aerial on my mk4 ls400 is stuffed.... been looking for a replacement for a while, but couldnt find one anywhere.... so i decided to fit a 3rd party aerial till one turns up. As i want to fit a proper lexus aerial when i can get one, ive cut the plug off the broken aerial and wired in the 3rd party one..... used my trusty old volt meter to find a 12V supply, and a switched supply (that only shows voltage when the key is turned in the ignition..... but it doesnt work :( if anybody has successfully installed a 3rd party aerial, and remembers which coloured wires they used can i check i havent done something silly please
  12. wow.... stunning price they certainly look good to me.... cant wait to see a photo of them on your car ;)
  13. That sounds more like I was looking for. Did you keep the instructions? afraid not steve.... they were very easy to fit tho..... after i worked out how to remove the headlights
  14. i fitted HID dipped beams to my mk1 LS400..... it made one hell of a difference to visability, so i Strongly recomend them.... i paid about £60 on ebay for the kit (couple years ago) I would be careful about fitting them as full beam tho, as pointed out, they take a while to warm up, so would be pretty useless if you wanted to flash with them
