  1. I've gone a similar route to you sterling in that I recently changed my 2007 is250 sel for an Audi a4. Absolutely loved the the Lexus, had it four years and it was a very good car but a change with my job meant I needed a diesel and I'm getting close to 50mpg in the Audi in the long run. The only problem I had with the Lexus which I agree with you about is the interior quality. I had all the usual rattles and then some more on top. I got so fed up of them that I had to cure most of them myself. Had both the door cards off for a rattle near the top of the door. I could actually see where the metal clips had scraped the plastic off its housing from all the rattling. Used sound deadening sheets to secure the cables and felt for the clips and it did the trick. Had rattles from the rear screen, dash, central air vent, dashboard, top of the door frames. All known to Lexus and most had tsb's issued for them. The dealers were great but most of the rattles eventually came back. Was just disappointing to have such a great car with these silly problems. I'd like to think that mine was an exeption but every time I had a new courtesy car from Lexus they also exhibited similar rattles! I know many people have had no rattles at all but I'm just talking from my own experience. It's the fact that newer cars showed the same problems that made me realise that Lexus don't seem to be sorting trim problems through the production cycle of the car. Spoilt an otherwise great car for me. Hope you enjoy the Audi!
  2. However I still like my car. One of the best looking cars in its class in my opinion: (sorry abit blurred) Full Lexus GFX kit, boot spoiler and 18" Baransu alloys, Love it!
  3. The rattle in the passenger door could be coming from the metal trim at the top of the door. Its a known problem. The metal clips erode the plastic housing with movement. This consequently creates play and thats the noise you hear. Solution is to place felt around the clip housing and open up the clips abit to get them to sit tighter. You will be shocked when you see whats behind the panel, just not well made. The black foam in the picture is what i have added on all the door cards etc. very good for rattles. Also have added sound deadening in the door skins because i thought i might as well as all the door panels were taken off anyway. This incidentally has improved the sound of the mark levinson system. Not something i would normally do but like yourself i think i was suffering from all the possible rattles that were listed on here just got fed up!
  4. Hi Astr4twin, I had the same problem as you regarding the rattle from the boot lid. I just pulled the carpet cover off and stuck on a sheet of foam sound absorber across the whole thing. It's an acoustic layer used nomally by car stereo types. They use it to stop trim rattles. It did the trick for me. In fact I've used the stuff all over the car to stop rattles! Behind all the door panels, behind the sat nav, under the centre console,in the boot and even in the rear view mirror!. Great stuff, car feels solid now and whisper quiet. Shouldn't have to do this on a car like this but the rattles were driving me crazy!
  5. mrkfx, Pretty easy fix for this. If you roll each window down and up again all the way from the drivers switches a couple of times then the lights will stop flashing, and they should work properly. You must roll them all thee way up and down. Its a mechanism that come into play normally if you disconnect the window switch from the wire loom. Because the computer has to relearn the resistance points at the top and the bottom of the window frame. It may mean you have a loose connector or something like that. Hope this helps
  6. Hi Jamie, ive got exactly the same set up as you, 250sel multimedia with gfx kit and baransu alloys but in black. I noticed you've got toyo proxes t1-r tyres. Im looking to change mine soon. ive currently got pirelli pzero rosso tyres, which have been great in the dry but in the cold they are rock hard and have really poor grip. Ride is also very harsh in the cold. How have you found the toyo's and also how much do they cost approx? thanks Also is the bmw platinum silver abit lighter than the original colour because i think mine look abit darker compared to yours
  7. Does it have a bodykit? I thought it was just the IS-F grille and nothing else but I'm probably wrong. Lexus Cheltenham had one in last time I was there, it was sold the first day they had it in the showroom . I saw it after they had prepped it ready for the new owner, and to be honest the only exterior changes I noticed was the new grille and the boot spoiler, so you could be right about not have the front lip, sides and rear. The boot lip spoiler is also a different shape from the previous OEM one. The seats hug you quite well but the seat squab sides are very raised (more than the standard Sport model). I would imagine the seat on the drivers right side will suffer from excessive wear from getting in and out of the car, although the IS-F owners will qualify if this is of concern. The dash looked just like the one in the slideshow. Still has the small front discs and calipers with the dusty pads though. If it had the IS350 front brakes and the 3.5 litre V6 it would be a very reasonable sports saloon (and lowered suspension, stiffer springs, slightly wider rims ) Tango, did you notice if the nav and stereo surround were in satin black as in the isf or just the same as regular?
  8. the 250 F-sport auto is priced at £29,365 and the 220d F-sport at £28,290. Can only be specced with full Multimedia, not available with basic nav. Good news for used buyers :D Oddly also lists baransu/hoshi/tsuki wheels as optional. wonder which wheels come as standard?
  9. IS250 standard tailpipes, the revised grill surround shape as on the latest IS 250 but with the IS-F 'mesh'. Same steering wheel as the IS-F, and same shape seats which are part Alcantera/Leather. Different 18" alloys too. ..and the GFX kit of course. Also black headlining similar to a certain german m-sport competitor
  10. matt555, im surprised to hear you say this about the Goodyear F1s. Was thinking about going for these next time but interested to hear about your experience on these tyres. what was so bad about them?
  11. Hi juicestop, the pic your referring to regarding the navigation is a picture of an actual is-f. It has the chrome bezel around the dials and the black satin black finish on the centre console of an is-f. I think they are showing that pic just to illustrate the steering wheel you get on the f-sport, as its the same as the is-f. I just thought someone on loc might have some more info on the detailed spec. I would imagine it would be quite high considering its priced between the sei and the sel. I had a sit in an is-f at the dealers and the seats are so good. would be worth it just for those seats!
  12. Hi everyone, just looking at the latest price list and it says the new 250 F-Sport lists at £29,365. Apart from all of the f-sport bits does anyone know what the general spec will be, eg heated cooled seats, xenons etc? Also notice its only available with multimedia option not full map nav. http://www.lexus.co.uk/about/motor-shows/f...50-f-sport.aspx thanks
  13. Johnny777, how are you finding your 09spec 250sel? I have a pre facelift 07 plate 250sel. Love the car and I think I would consider upgrading to the facelift model. Apart from the seat problem have you suffered from any other squeeks or rattles?
