  1. Happy Birthday shytalkz!

  2. Came with the car, so that's good news re the warranty period. @ Chandru: no, not treated them with anything as yet, just a weekly wash. Any suggestions when I get the replacements as to treatment method?
  3. Thanks for that. Guess I'll leave them for the winter months, though, otherwise at this rate, I'll need another set come March!
  4. Washing the car last week, I noticed pitting on both front alloys. It's not a lot at the moment, but, seeing as I shelled out £1200-odd for them as an extra, I'm none too pleased; nor does it bode well for their look come the spring time. Has anyone else had problems with these? Why only the fronts, could that be the brake dust reacting somehow with them? And, presumably, Lexus will replace any/all of them under warranty?
  5. Also, to open the boot with the external button, the key has to be at that end of the car. If you leave it inside the car, engine on or off and go to the boot, it won't open. There are sensors in several places to determine the key's location, so the likelyhood of the hobbledehoys (fantastic word btw!) getting stuff *if* he had locked it and the key was in the house is a remote (pardon the pun) one.
  6. The OBC seems to overestimate mpg anyway: mine is showing an overall average of 29.7; my own records show tank mpgs of between 24.74 and 26.57 with an average at last fill up of 25.99. Currently c2k miles on the clock. As for fuel types, I go where my Total fuel card takes me!
  7. You think we have such things here in carrot land? People still stand and point when a plane flies over.... :eerrrmm:
  8. :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk: Had the car a month and, thanks to a moment's inattentiveness, scuffed the nearside front Hoshi on a kerb this pm. Not too badly, but I know it's there.... Does anyone have any ideas of good places, preferably either in or somewhere near, Norfolk to have it returned to a pristine condition?
  9. ...sounds like a Base plus some after kit... It would be an interesting check on the V5, if that's what they were doing!
  10. That seems to be the default factory setting: my SE-L is the same, not that it's particularly bothering me atm. However, the locks disengage as soon as you put it in P, so, unless you're trying to leap out of the car at >12mph and then get in the back door....?!
  11. Although there are extra sensors on the front with the 800: the standard set-up on the SE-L MM with 2 sensors on the front is ok for warnings regarding obstructions likely to be swiped by the corners, but wouldn't be of use in tonking something straight in front. More a requirement for women drivers though :P
  12. Did the same in my old IS200, miles from home in a motorway service area, when I shut the boot, with the keys inside, having already locked the doors. RAC man eventually turned up, got a small airbag in between the top of the driver door and body, inflated it enough to be able to get a wire down to flick the bootlid lever: voila, keys recovered. Never did it again, fortunately....
  13. I've had the IS250SE-L Auto MM (Cadoxton Slate/Black with 18" Hoshis) for just over a week now and I have to say I love it. Tank average is showing 29-odd mpg, which is not bad, seeing as I've been doing mainly short journeys in it so far. Keyless entry is great and I just love the way it all lights up in the night as you walk up to it; footwell lights are neat too. However...that nanny-nag stuff on the MM is getting on my threes already and I'm feeling a visit to get the Tom's hack kit coming on. Lawyers will ruin what little pleasure there is left in this world, given half a chance... :tsktsk:. Interestingly, my old MP3 CDs seem to play better than the original CDs from which most of the music was taken, with much better bass response, although the file details greying-out as part of the nannying is somewhat annoying. However, my principal vitriol is reserved for the agree/disagree screen that comes up on starting - what a pointless waste of time, I've not even read it ever, just hit the "agree" (out of interest, might just try tapping the other one to see what happens!) side every time. All in all, though: fantastic car, the six-speed auto box is sublime, so much so that I only had two minutes' playtime with the paddle gears and went back to lounging in full auto mode after that. No rattles or loose bits, the road noise is not excessive and it all looks v pretty inside at night. As I say, other than the entirely pointless MM nannying, I have nothing negative to say thus far, nor do I expect to as time wears on. I even managed to get the satnav to find an address in Norfolk this time, unlike when I had the demo! Me likee, mucho. :D
