  1. Yeah - you need to be a bit more specific. The Mk1 was still being made in 1997, as was the Mk2. :)
  2. Hey guys. After working solid for the last year without a break, I finally booked a weekend off for my son to come down to Wales so we could spend some time together. We decided to hit the beach, and as soon as we got to the car park, with the engine still running, the alarm went off. After killing the ignition and starting again, it went off but resumed about 30 seconds later. We tried locking and unlocking the car - same result - it was if it was on a timer and went off every thirty seconds. By this time the car was attracting a lot of attention so we got in and drove it, with the alarm still sounding, 200 yards up the road. The only way we managed to shut it up was to disconnect the battery then the siren itself which involved taking the undertray from the bumper and 3 hours messing in a hot sun. Needless to say I wasn't very happy. This could have happened any other time than when my son was down and it wouldn't have bothered me. I now have to disconnect the battery every time I leave the car for longer than a hour. It seems there's a backup battery in the alarm system which makes a loud clicking noise every few seconds. After leaving the battery disconnected for a while, the click stops, but starts when the battery is reconnected. We tried to reset the system by holding the two buttons down on the key fob but this did nothing. With the nearest Lexus dealer being 100 miles away in Cardiff, does anyone have a idea how I can at least get the car to function in a way where I don't constantly have to disconnect and reconnect the battery? Or how to fix the system itself? Thanks a lot Dave
  3. Hadn't thought of that, and they're only 15 minutes away. Will call in next time I'm up north and see what they have. Cheers bud.
  4. Again, thanks a lot Dave. Much appreciated! Probably going to go for the Falkens.
  5. Thats great, cheers for the TF. I'm looking into the Falken's at the moment, they seem pretty good.
  6. It needs a clean first. After a somewhat quick 200 mile run up from south Wales this morning, it has the entire Welsh population of bugs splattered over the front of it.
  7. Thanks for that bud - just what I was looking for!
  8. Yes, I thought it was a tad on the expensive side. Technically, it's my dads car, and he's BigD, but I use the forums more than him. I'll pass that on ;) The tyre size is 275/40ZR18 (10 inch sport rears). He just needs to know what the best he can get for it is. These Nexens have been very good, just not lasted long at all. EDIT: If someone could recommend a decent place to get the tyres online too, that would be a awesome help.
  9. OEM it is then! o.0 Cheers mate.
  10. Hi, My Mk1 GS is just overdue a new cambelt - i know this won't be cheap! Does anyone know how much a OEM Lexus cambelt is? TDI have a HKS one (http://www.tdi-plc.com/catalog/product_inf...oducts_id=16895) that I THINK fits the 2JZ GE engine for just over a hundred quid, but if this is a lot more than the OEM one, i'll go for that. Basically, does anyone know how much the OEM one is, and is it worth spending a little extra on the HKS one if it costs more?
  11. Hey people. My GS300 has eaten a pair of Nexen N3000 tyres (back) in just under 9000 miles. I don't push the car particularly hard, and try to never spin the wheels. I do accept that it's a big heavy car with a lot of power, but I also can't afford £500 for rubber every 9000 miles. The car has had it's geometry set up by Lexus Chester and the tyres are wearing evenly. Can you guys recommend something that will still be pretty grippy but last a bit longer? I'm not sure where to start. Thanks BigD
  12. Wow. I'm going to be at Santa Pod when you guys are running, being a bit of a freelance photographer, would be nice to get some pictures of the people on the forums! What does your car and truck look like? I'll make sure I find you guys!
  13. Hey. I've thinking about ordering a USB OBD2 reader for the car - it's due a service soon but feels a little down on power so want to see what I can find before she goes in. Car in question is a 1997 1ST GEN GS300. I know OBD2 was introduced in 1996 but was it implemented on the 1st gen series of the GS? I know there's a diagnostic connection under the bonnet, but am not sure if just plugging the OBD2 reader into this would let me read the information from the car? Anyone else had experience with this kind of thing? Thanks Dave
  14. I hope to God the little ***** gets what is coming to him. It's just not right. I by no means want to de-rail this thread, but not all teenagers are like this as I'm sure you know. I'm 17 and I don't drink or smoke at all. Neither do most of my friends. However, I get the blame for things sometimes, or people will cross the road to avoid me. I do not look intimidating or anything. Yes, I do wear hoody's but that's because they're warm and comfy, not because I'm a member of the local 'so-solid crew'. I agree with the comments about the social networking sites. I myself use Bebo, but unlike most I'm capable of using full words when presented with a keyboard. Some of the crap that gets posted on other users' pages goes beyond belief, but that is down to the person posting it. Most of it to be fair, is utter crap. I wish the law would back off, they can get away with pretty much everything. They know that if you retaliate (sp?) towards them they can quite easily get you in the *****. That is why they will not give in. Why can't we just smack the ********. Sorry, rant over. Just sick of getting other people's *****.
  15. I've contacted them about a pass - they said due to my age, insurance is an issue and would not provide me with one for the Main Event. (Which annoyingly, is one of the very few I'm free to attend.) Grrr.. A ) At health and safety B ) being 17
  16. Hey guys. When I was at the Pod a few months ago, I remember hearing it mentioned that health and safety were blocking up the old shed behind the track - sadly they carried it out so there is now only viewing from the sides. I am very into my photography and was wondering if anyone here had any little tips on where to set up the camera gear now? I used to love being behind them, but apart from the top of the stands, or the grass on the other sides, where else is there to set up? I know this is a real shot in the dark, but i've got to rent lenses (which isn't cheap!) to take with me. I don't know if i should rent a big telephoto zoom or a relatively wide angle like I used to. Many thanks.
  17. I have one. My Wii Sports age is 56.. I'm 17. Wii Fit says 21 though, so I can live with that.

  19. Teehee, well, at least my dad (BigDave) was a bit older, he got 64 and he's 53. He won't stop laughing at me. (BigMark)
  20. Yay for impeding death. Just ordered a Wii Fit.
  21. Hello all. I purchased a Nintendo Wii the other day, and finally managed to get a play on it with Wii Sports (and what good fun it is! I'm addicted to the golf and tennis ) I decided to try the fitness test thing. Now am I not fat, I'm a bit over-weight, but have very broard shoulders etc and am bloody strong. The Wii said my age should be 56. I am 17. Help.
  22. Ebay may be your best bet. Does it have the wider rear tyres on it? This alone is a good selling point - even more so if they're in good condition. The Mk1 sports are getting pretty rare now.
