  1. It looks like the installer is talking rubbish and he might be blamed for anything that goes wrong with the car. There should be no difference when driving on LPG compared to normal petrol. Probably the mixture is not set properly or the ignition wires need to be replaced. Do not get fooled by driving 1000 miles with misfiring!!! As for the petrol gauge, get used to it. IS 200 tries to be very smart and assumes there must be some petrol usage, that's why the gauge will go down until the light comes on. You need to remember how much fuel you've had but the gauge will come back to its position after driving 20-30miles with petrol light on - ASSUMING THERE IS FUEL AND NO LEAKS. Good luck,
  2. The same problem with my IS '00. I'm going to change the cambelt and the two rolls. The coolant is leaking and I could clearly see the pink liquid on the front bottom shield under the radiator. It looks like it is a water pump which has never been changed though it's a bit strange to me that it is leaking after 130k kms. My experience with other Japanese cars is that one changes the water pump usually every second cambelt change. It looks like this time it is totally different - a bit dissapointed. However the most annoying thing is that Lexus' price of the water pump is almost the same as a cambelt + two rolls. So much money for this sh.. ? Never in my life. Going to buy a different one, which is a few times cheaper, crazy stuff.
  3. No, I did not fix it. When you start driving you can not get the feeling the shaking is there, it is only when idling. As a matter of fact I'm not looking into the problem until I get into some problems - thought somebody else could face it.
  4. Hi, There's a strange shaking when I start the car in the morning after several hours of rest. When the engine is cold and it warms up with RPM ~1300-1500 the car sometimes shakes just like there was a problem with a cylinder not firing properly. There's nothing wrong the car has warmed up and the "check engine" light does not show up. Guess it's not humidity and ignition wires as the problem would be even bigger when driving on LPG - nothing like that, though LPG starts working when the engine is quite warm. The vibrations do not disappear when I press the clutch pedal. What can it be ? Dual mass f..... wheel? - hate that stuff in non-diesel engines.
  5. One question about the HIDs. How is it in UK as in Poland if you have passed your MOT and the you're caught by the police and they find HIDs in H4 or H7 or whatever headlights which are not produced for HID they can take you car's registration certificate away. Then you need to pass your MOT once again and come back with the result to take the certificate back. Is it the same or passing MOT is something that lets you drive in peace ? :)
  6. Or you can buy an external CD changer emulator that reads USB, SD and other memory cards - it works just like an external CD changer and is controlled from the head unit. The biggest drawback of the OEM unit is that it is CD audio player and hell no chance to display song titles etc.
  7. Mine had already been LPG converted when I bought it - BRC SEQUENT 56. Fuel economy is not a pro of this car.
  8. It looks like there was only one that failed and got it replaced. Hate the price of the coils and hate the fact that there are six of them. Never know how long the others will keep on working.
  9. My pc soft claims that timing belt should be replaced every 100k miles/150k km or 72months. Isn't this right? Why 60k miles then?
  10. Right, I guess coil failure is also a common problem :(
  11. Hi guys, I guess I have the same problem. Waiting for the coil - suddenly the check engine light went on,engine started to shake, then the TRC OFF light showed up. Went for a diagnosis - cylinder misfiring - heard that 3 had gone. Switched the coils, reset ECU and found out that one has gone but the error was somehow populated. Waiting for the coil and praying that's all that needs to be done as the car is shaking and I hate the behaviour. Thought it was like a tank, but no way :(
  12. As for my squeaking problem it seems to have been too tight parking break setup.
  13. Hi, I've also recently noticed strange squeak when driving a cold car (usually after the car was outside for a couple of hours). It always appears when cold and going backwards. It is not constant, squeaks as the car is moving, disappears and shows up again. Then it disappears, let's say after a longer run. What could it be? I guess it's not clutch, suspension, wheel?
  14. Imagine a month and a half ago I woke up and saw at least 20cm of fresh snow with my summer tyres - Pirelli P-Zero Nero 215/45/17. That was a total crap I could not even leave my parking and drifted on every curve, but it got much, much better when I put on winter tyres - 205/50/16''
  15. True, guess most of the HID equipped car owners know about it
  16. Take the HID bulb and holder out. Then find the original car's headlamp lead, which will be plugged into the HID ballast (the metal box of electronics that makes the HID work). Remove this lead from the ballast, plug a regular HB4 bulb into it, then insert that into the headlamp unit. Job done. Looks like a piece of cake Thanks
  17. Mine were installed by the previous owner so I'm not too familiar with how to assemble/disassemble them. What do I need to do if one goes off and I wanted to put standard HB4(for both sides)?
  18. As for the oil - as far as I remember it is 4.2l when changing the oil filter. I'd rather check what kind of oil you've been running on - fully synthetic or semi-synthetic - magnatec 0W-30 is fully synthetic and 10W-40 is semi. If you can afford buying at lexus/toyota and you are fine with spending more money then go ahead :). I'd go to a car pars store, provide model information and you get the list of filters that match your car - bosh, knecht, toyota etc.
  19. A strange thing that CD player. It shows ERR3 every second or third play attempt. Then I load or eject the CD a couple of times and it is able to play the CD again. Don't get it at all :(. If a mechanical part was down then it should not play a CD at all.It looks as it could not position the plate sometimes but try once more and it's ok. It's got a mind of its own.
  20. Do you know what to do to get the fuel gauge back to its correct position? Will no always remember how much fuel is left and don't wont to run out of fuel. I go to NESTE self-service petrol station and fill 5liters and then it goes back to its position :) - stupid workaround
  21. I'll join the group of frustrated standard radio users. Once, I had 6 CDs in and while the changer was switching the disc I run onto a bump - ERR3 - and nothing I could do though I read some tips on the web. I gave it to Lexus and waited for the radio to come back about 2 weeks. The claimed it went to the producer to be fixed. It came back with some plate changed - even got the faulty part. Drove a couple of days listening to CDs and guess what - famous ERR3 but only with one CD in- could not eject the CD. Very angry opened the fuse box and disconnected the Radio 1 (20) fuse - radio showed 6 discs inside - ejected the right one and the 5 virtuals :) I happen to get the error twice a week I guess, but don't know what the cause of the problem is and don't won't to give the radio back to someone and drive without music. Disconnecting the fuse seems to help with ejecting one or two discs (tried 2,3 times). I could write a lot though about the radio but don't want to anyone to get bored. Any tips when it can get stuck with one disc?It seems I get ERR3 when trying to play CD which was being played when I turned off the engine (though turned the radio off)
  22. I got sorted my LPG out but the have the same problem with fuel gauge - behaves like I was running on petrol. This is totally strange. Running on LPG it almost went down to the penultimate tick and then when I run onto a bump it jumped up to 1/2 - crazy stuff.
  23. I was wrong about the fuel consumption on a long run. I drove almost 400km using less than a half tank which means to me that the fuel consumption is about 8,5l/100km which is about 30mpg - if my calculations are ok ;)
  24. One more question. Is the fuel consumption meter worth anything? I mean does it show real values? (the analog one)
  25. Right, for the time being the difference is that the petrol is twice as expensive as LPG :)
