  1. I checked my emissions today and found that the Lambda reading is not at it's optimum (lowest reading was 1.15, limit is 1.03). HC & CO readings are normal. Has anyone else experienced the same, perhaps whilst presenting for an MOT, etc. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
  2. I am thinking of using my 1994 LS400 as a second car. I have poked around various so called Classic insurance companies online and they are not even coming close to my current insurance! Does anyone run these cars on a classic insurance for about £150 per annum? I know some Ins. co's require you to garage your car but I do not have a garage (well I do really but not one that will acommodate my LS anyway!). Any info. would be helpful. Thanks.
  3. Beware!!! I would strongly suggest delivering your clock by hand. I posted mine for repair and it was damaged on it's way to the repairer. When it came back and I installed it the clock caught fire!!! I in effect paid £87 paid for a wasted repair. I ended up paying another £60 for a second hand clock. I haven't had this one repaired as yet!!! If you must send the clock by courier, make sure any damage is noted upon receipt.
  4. Does anyone else have an oil leak from the rear of their engine? I have an oil leak from what appears to be around the rear crank area of my car which is incredibly annoying. Just wondered if any else has experienced this problem and if you were able to cure with stop leak, etc. Mine is definitely an engine oil leak (as opposed to PAS or gearbox leak) and is coming from the back of the engine. Please help, it is making a mess on my drive!
  5. Thanks to all for your advice. With regards to the fuel gauge, mine seems to be working OK in that I put fuel in & it seems to register a proportional amount. It is slow sometimes in rising to the registered amount but I can put up with that. {This is a replacement speedo (the first one I had repaired burnt out as soon I put it back in & I don't want to risk that again!)}. Austin 1100!!! How long ago are we going back?
  6. What is the average MPG of a 94 model year LS 400? I have been driving mine for about three weeks now and every week it seems I am putting more fuel in and my fuel low warning light seems to be coming on earlier each time !! I have worked out that this last week I was returning 12mpg (based on 60 miles covered with 5.14 gallons). I am doing short journeys (2 miles approx., 4 or 5 times a day). I know the MPG would be better over a longer distance but 12mpg well below what I expected (and I tickle the throttle, you can almost hear the car laughing!). I would hate to think what it would do if I had a lead right foot. Anyway, it would be interesting to know what other LS 400 owners are getting to the gallon so I would appreciate your posts. :D
  7. Thanks for that advice. Doesn't look like red oil on the drive but I will double check PAS pump when I get it on the ramp. :)
  8. Thanks to every one who welcomed me to the club. I have a 94 model year LS400 with 136K on the clock. I have noticed a slight leak on the drive. I got one of the techies at work to put it on the ramp the other week to check the leak out. He said the rear engine oil sump bolts were loose and re-torqued them. I can still see a few drops on the sump so I am not convinced this was the cause. I will get it back on the ramp when we get chance but in the meantime, does anyone know of a common oil leak on these? Thanks :D
  9. Hello fellow Lexus members. Just wanted to say a quick Hi to you all. I have been looking everyday (for the last six months!) on Autotrader, Bargain Pages, etc. for a half decent early LS400 and guess what? Could not believe my luck when I Finally got a 94 model (last owner had for 13 years) for a surreal price. Never been in an owner's club before but I think owning a Lexus justifies this now! I have only had the car for about a month now and have had the traumatic experience of having the clock repaired (illumination prob's.) and seeing it melt almost instantly after putting it back in. I must however express my most sincere thanks to KENMAC for sorting me out last week with a replacement cluster (speedo needle is a bit dim but this clock is staying in the dash!!). What a top bloke. I was seriously starting to question my choice of purchase but this is not an issue any longer. Look forward to being part of the club. Thanks.
