  1. Hi all, I think I've seen a car I'm keen on, a RS200 Altezza, but it's a long way from me. I'll happily travel to get it if we can work out a deal, however I've not really been in one to get a feeling of what they should drive like and if they're the right kind of car for me. I've read a load of reviews and on paper everything looks good, decent suspension setup, good chassic, RWD and normally you can tell, but it's always nice to see them running IYSWIM. If anyone would be willing to help out just let me know, I'm based in Rayleigh, Essex. Thanks in advance! Mark
  2. Hi all, Been looking around and was going to import one but with the Yen getting stronger and the pound becoming dropping just as fast, it's not really the time to look to import ;) But I'm after a manual (seems really rare!) Altezza RS200, in Black or Gray and no newer than march 2001 (as I walk to the train station for my daily commute so need cheap road tax ;) ). It's pretty specific I know but if you don't ask you don't get! As I understand (correct me if I'm wrong), the manual engine is different to the Auto engine right? So even putting a manual box in an Auto car you'd be down on power slightly? Plus all the work to fit the new peddal box etc... Anyway, if anyone hears of anything like the above please let me know :D Cheers, Mark
  3. Thanks Stav, I'm pretty handy with a spanner and have read through the IS200 buyers guide and TBH it's so short compared to must "bug lists" that it would seem to be pretty easy, just the usual checks on the cars of that age and a couple of specific things to look out for. Just the RS200 doesn't seem as common as I first thought!
  4. Hi Ian, Not far at all, I'm over by the station, but that's part of the reason I'm looking to change, both me and my gf commute via train so rarely use the cars, and I have an old Xantia that I've used for years as a knock around car (280,000 miles and counting!), but most of the time ended up driving that rather than the RX7... Or have 4 people to transport so have to use the Xantia. So finally thought I should just go for it and get rid of the both and get something that does a reasonable job of both. Beemer M3's or similar were on the list but I just can't bring myself to get a Beemer ;) So just liking the idea of getting back to my Toyota roots and with something RWD (my only critera of a car now!) and with some extra comforts :D
  5. Hey everyone, I've signed up as I'm starting a search for the somewhat elusive (now it seems so), 6sp Manual Altezza RS200 in Black of metallic grey... Not as easy as I thought! Anyway, I'm getting back to my Toyota roots after being a owner of several MR2s (always fancied one with the BEAMS engine in!), and spent a year racing Mk1 MR2s I've always been a fan of Toyota. Currently have a Mazda RX7 and have owned a S1 Lotus Exige for about 3 years, fun but far too hot and sweaty all year round ;) But if anyone can give me any advise on the RS200's, how much do they go for roughly? And it looks like there's a model report for them now as well so even if I have to bring one in (personally imported my gf's Figaro) then the SVA shouldn't be too bad right? Or is it worth holding out until next year and let the older ones slip past the 10 year rules (which I hear could be phased out?). Anyway, be goo dto hear from you all :) Cheers, Mark
