  1. Thanks for that, much appreciated. Also, I have another car not a Lexus!, but I am using the same 9.5mm spacers all round as the offsets on the wheels are too high and sit too far in the arches. When the spacers are put onto centre hub ring it makes the spacer flush to the ring, ie the wheel can no longer sit on the centre ring, therefore the wheel is held on by the bolts, these are extended as they are the bolt into the hub set up and not the studs out of the hub if you know what I mean. I know the centre ring is there to centre the wheel, but am I alright with just the 5 bolts holding the wheels to the hub now there is no centre ring to sit on?
  2. Hi guys, Im hoping someone can help. I am currently running my 97 LS on 18" rims, however I have had to use 9.5mm spacers on the front so they clear the front 4 pot calipers. I need now to get some extended studs so the nuts will go on fully instead of half the amount at present! Can anyone tell me what length studs I would need for use with 9.5mm spacers? I have seen sets on Ebay but only for Toyota but there are Lexus specif sets available from the US, but these state the thread length come in either 35mm, 45mm or 50mm. The 45mm studs say on the ad they are for use with up to 15mm spacers (I have emailed the guy but not got a response), but 45mm for the thread length doesnt seem that long to me? Does anyone know the standard length of a factory stud to save me having to bang one out and measure!! or has anyone else used extended studs on their LS and if so what size did you use. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  3. That would be great buddy if you don't mind. Are yours for sale by any chance? Could you pm me a contact number? Many thanks.
  4. Hi again guys, Can anyone confirm if the 18" alloys from an SC430 will fit a 1997 LS. I know they will on paper ie pcd etc, Im just concerned about the front calipers on my LS as they are the larger 4 pots. Cheers.
  5. Hi Guys, Im after some 17"+ alloys and tyres for my 97 LS. Ideally I would like the Mk4 facelift wheels but will consider any wheels and tyres 17" and above. Please let me know if you are selling. Cheers.
  6. Thanks guys will do. Is the caliper the same as the mk1 gs300. I have been told it is, but would like confirmation!
  7. Hi guys, I have a problem with my IS. Basically the brake pedal is very soft and can be pushed to the floor with ease. I also get a bad juddering just before coming to a stop. I have replaced the front discs and pads and this has solved the juddering, I guess the discs were warped. I then bled the system and noticed that one of the front calipers has a crack in it and when the pedal is depressed it leaks fluid. I know Im probably answering my own question but would a leak in the caliper cause the pedal to be so soft, as my initial thought would of been master cylinder. Is there any way to test to eliminate the master cylinder/caliper, ie clamping the brake hose to the effected caliper to eliminate the master cylinder etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated before I start spending silly money on replacing things. I know I need a new caliper so this will get replaced, Im just concerned about the master cylinder. Cheers.
  8. Right, after weeks and weeks of waiting for new parts I still have this fluctuating idle problem in Park and Neutral whilst loosing all my fuel through exhaust. Here is what I have done so far: Cleaned throttle body Adjusted throttle cable Replaced TPS sensor Replaced MAF sensor Replaced air filter Replaced leads Replaced spark plugs Cleaned idle contol valve and housing Cleaned all connectors and plugs Cleaned PCV valve Replaced EGR filter I am really running out of ideas on what to do next. The engine management light is not on and I have done a diagnostic check which comes up as no faults? The only other thing I have not done is replaced the fuel filter, but I cant really see it causing all this grief. It is overfueling because the engine is over compensating for something but I just dont know what! Any advise would be much appreciated to cure this bloody fluctuating idle and overfueling. Cheers.
  9. Right, had a mechanic come over yesterday to take a look a my ever growing list of problems. First, he identified the tons of smoke on cold start up to be fuel. He suggested I put some injector cleaner in with some fuel and try to clear the injectors as they might be blocked. This was the first time Id driven it since these problems arose. Put £20 of super unleaded in with the inj cleaner. It made no difference however I did manage a fantastic 6 miles until I was out of fuel again!! So, any ideas on what can be causing the car to overfuel so badly losing all the fuel out of the exhaust on start up in smoke.
  10. Yeah Im pretty sure its not an air leak, I had all the pipes out and checked for cracks etc and made sure they are all secured properly. Im also getting alot of white smoke from start up which clears when warm which is pointing me towards the classic power steering issue.
  11. Also, is there a way of testing to see if my spark plug leads are working as they should, before I splash out on a new set. I can see myself spending 3 times the value of the car trying to fault find!
  12. Thanks for the advice. I will change it and see what happens. Can I use the TPS from a V8 Soarer or any LS400 from 90 -93 do you know?
  13. I have spent the last couple of days trying to cure my fluctuating idle problem. I have: Changed spark plugs Cleaned out throttle body Cleaned MAF Cleaned ICV and generally cleaning out any other plugs/sensors I could see with electrical contact spray. Now the car doesnt always fluctuate on idle, however still idles high in N & P and dips down to 1100 RPM in D. It has also developed a misfire that didnt seem to be there before and sometimes when in Drive if you put your foot on the gas the revs drop right down, splutters and coughs and sometimes dies. If anyone has any ideas please, please advise me!!!!
  14. I am trying to do a Diagnostic Check on my 91 LS. I have bridged a wire between TE1 & E1 in the port under the steering wheel, put the car in neutral and made sure air con is off but the engine light just continues to flash constantly with no breaks to determine a code number. What am I doing wrong? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Thanks for the advise Pete, much appreciated. I fully understand its hard to diagnose problems without seeing the car! The car is a 91 LS400, 180k with no history apart from cambelt! Not a good start I know, but I paid £300 for her, came with 12 months MOT and brand new 17" alloys and tyres. Figured the wheels and tyres were worth that if all went wrong! Saying that the car drives without fault, smooth comfortable and powerful with no knocks or bangs! Just want to fix the idling issue and she should be good for a runaround.
  16. Hi Guys, Im new to the forum, so first and foremost hello to all! Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction in to solving my problem... I have a 1991 LS400. It has an erratic idling issue. When in drive the car idles at a little over 1k, which I know is too high, secondly when in Park or Neutral the revs move up and down constantly (to no more than 1600). Any ideas on how I can cure this, or whats causing it? Thanks in advance.
