  1. @Barry14UK do you have anyone in around Bristol on the list? Thank you
  2. Thank you guys, for your recomendations, it is much appreciated. Funnily enough I had highlighted GOCOOL when I had a trawl around the net, so it's good to have a personal recomendation. I will contact both of them, fill them in on the history, and see what they think. I'll report back in due course. Many thanks once again. Andrew
  3. Any idea if the gremlins have been sorted out in the 2009/2010 disc ?
  4. Just bumping this in the hope that someone may know of a specialist. Have done nothing over the winter, but hoping that I might need the A/c soon ;) Did speak to Lexus, Bristol but they said they carry out their A/c work in house
  5. Thanks for your info. and sorry for the delay in replying. The car is a 2004, and I have owned it for exactly 1 year. THe problem is that the system is leaking, it was only when they attempted to regas it the second time that they encountered a problem, and that was when the foreign matter was encountered I bought it in October, and only use it occasionally so I'm not exactly sure when it stopped working. I know a little history of the car, and would be very surprised if "aircon stop leak" had been used. I did not see the debris the garage mention, but they described it as congealed oil. Any other infomation I can give you? Andrew
  6. I'm looking for a really first class aircon engineer in the Bristol/South West area. I had my LS430 recharged, and all seemed OK for about 3 weeks. The people who did it (recommended on this forum) told me to bring it back if there were any problems. I did as they said, they had it for about a week, they had a good look at it, and felt the only place where they thought there might be a leak was at the refilling point. They changed the valves, but then they found they couldn't recharge it, they brought in a specialist (name unknown to me) and he suggested there may be some "foreign matter/congealed oil in the system), pipes were removed and cleaned and now all was well. The recharge has lasted about 4 weeks. I'm loathe to take it back, as I believe it's beyond their level of expertise, and would welcome any comments and recommendations for some who is really good. I don't mind travelling to get this sorted out once and for all. Thanks in anticipation Andrew
  7. Just a shot in the dark How many files did you put on the disk? I believe there's a maximum of 99 Andrew
  8. I've noticed that the boot gets a bit damp. Whilst checking the seals I noticed the right hand side of the boot does not fit as well as the left. There doesn't appear to be any adjustment. My question is would I be best advised to tale it to a body repair specialist or a Lexus dealer. Be interested in what you think Second question as my LS430 has A/c in the back need I got to a specialist for a recharge or can I leave this to my local otherwise competent garage Andrew
  9. Hi David, Although I haven't used them, another member recommended Bond Motors, I thought I would probably give them a go when mine needed a service. Andrew PS I'll pop into Bedlam when I'm passing :)
  10. Hi David, and welcome from another Almondsbury resident. I've had my 430 for a couple of months now and love driving it. It is very much my car for "best", as I seem to do a lost of journeys conveying muddy children, large objects, and trips to the tip, at which my Grand Espace excels. Andrew
  11. I know what you mean. What I do now is decide the max I'm prepared to pay, put the figure in, and hit the confirm price with 3 seconds to go. You'll either get it, or it will go for more than you were prepared to pay. Therefore happy at either outcome Andrew
  12. I had a similar problem with my Samsung , paired OK, worked OK , but could not transfer numbers. Another poster suggested Sony Ericsson's usually worked, I had an old one lying around so transfered my numbers to this, and from this to the car, and it worked a treat. Andrew
  13. It was the DVD version the latest which I presume is 2007/2008. The funny thing is on the problematical route, my 2004 version calculates it correctly. You're quite right you can buy a standalone satnav for not much more than £50 which calculates the route correctly, or £130 for a disc that doesn't  Andrew
  14. I had a problem with the latest update, in as much as some of the routing was incorrect. I was told by Lexus Map Updates that the earliest this would be corrected would be in the version due Oct/Nov 2009 Andrew
  15. Did you see that pussy with a safety line? Seriously though you wouldn't get me up there Andrew
  16. Interesting that about the 2001 version, the 2004 which came with my car gets it right using the M25. So it looks like they've gone back to their old ways. Strange Andrew
  17. You might like to read this thread relating to the latest DVDClick Here Andrew
  18. OK to put this one to bed from my point of view Navteq never responded to two further emails from myself, so we can assume they are not interested in bugs in their product. Lexus mapupdates were very good in respect of answering emails but they couldn't do anything until the next update around Oct/Nov 2009. The have however agreed to refund my money, and have arranged to collect the discs via DHL. My view is that although it would be nice to have up to date roads, and POI's, it is more important to me to have a system that calculates routes with some degree of intelligence Andrew
  19. Just an update NAVTEQ have gone quiet, since I asked for their clarification, and the supplier Lexus-mapupdates is "still waiting to hear from the person who deals with this" Reminders sent Andrew
  20. This is part of the reply I received from Navteq Thank you for contacting NAVTEQ. NAVTEQ have not influence on the route calculations that are made by your navigation system as this is determined by the navigation system. I replied asking them that if this is the case why does the original 2004 version route correctly, and also whether the disc included a firmware update. I await their response, and will report accordingly Andrew
  21. Might be worth following this thread if you're thinking of updating THREAD Andrew
  22. Thanks for all your help lads. The good old Sony Ericsson T630 has been brought out of retirement, and has done the decent thing. Working a treat now :) Andrew
  23. I've got a Sony Erricson knocking around, so I'll give that a try Andrew
