Had this weird experience over the weekend. Took a turn into a wrong street and tried to back out onto the main road. Road was sloping down on the reverse. Time to stop and shift to Drive for moving forward. Alas! No brakes. Tried to pump the brakes. Brake pedal was all the way down with no impact on the wheels. As i was rolling slowly down the road in reverse and with no vehicles behind me, i shifted the gear to park to stop with rock and roll. I was puzzled with what had just happened. Engine had stalled - probably with shifting to park. Tried to move back to reverse gear and again the same thing. No brakes. shifted to park and stopped again. Called Lexus roadside assistance. Flat bed arrives in 45 min. Tow guy applied the tow rod and i casully tell him to check the brakes and voila, the brakes are back. I drove the car back to my home a short distance away. Taking it to dealer tomorrow. I have a feeling that they are going to say that everything is OK. But, i know the bewilderment i felt during this experience, :shutit: was real. Will update with what the service guys say. Mine is 2008 IS 250 that is barely 2 months old.
