  1. For sitting on the drive, Aston Martin, they are a joy to behold.. To drive, well, I'm probably biased, but I loved driving my 911 and you really can use them everyday, unlike fragile italian supercars..
  2. funny that - you pay people to find a link between Carbon output and global warming... shock horror, they find it, and ask for another grant to continue working on it... You know, there is also an inverse effect of the global temperature and the number of pirates ;) i think perhaps i should get a grant to investigate that!
  3. ignoring the above arguments... am i the only one thinking it looked a bit boring and effortless? surely the thrill of driving fast is man and machine one complete entity, feeling the grip, camber, looking ahead to predict the road... not pottering along like your doing 80mph...
  4. I did a test many years ago. The ECU does adjust to the RON rating of the fuel - and I found that running on 97 RON did give the same (or very slightly better) mile to the £ as ordinary 95 RON, but also had the additional benifit of slightly more performance when needed. But those comparisons were based on 80p and 85p a litre respectively, now with super at a £/l, it would be hard to say.
  5. They look like: and mine are free to anyone that wants to pick them up (i imagine postage may be a bit pricey due to the size?)
  6. cor, i'll have to dig through my old piccies and vids and get all nostaglic!
  7. i think i've got some of these hanging around too somewhere...
  8. Just curious what the cheapest used IS250 & 220D's are... I kinda figure still the best part of £20k, hence why i havent bothered looking, but if there are ones cheaper, i'd be interested to hear about them!
  9. sorry, bad weekend for me. Though there is a Pistonhead meet near Trowbridge tomorrow if anyones interested ;)
  10. yeah, ive heard MB service is appaling, and the cars arent as good as they once were...
  11. without a plate it'll be tough for the police to do anything, even with the make, model and colour of the car, they would have to prove it was him. (perhaps damage would help) But the fact is, i dont think you'll get much from the police on this.
  12. as this is local to me, i will again offer my hospitality for the night before/after that no-one seems to take me up on ;)
  13. aye, but guaranteed a lot more englishmen celebrated St Patricks day than even are aware its St Georges!
  14. okay, I assume you have the corrola compressor then? The simple fact is, it'll still depreciate, slower than the rest of the corrola's, but it will still depreciate. The only reason to hang onto it is if you really enjoy driving it, I dont think keeping it will have any benifit, unless your likely to want one again.
  15. it depends on what you mean by 'rare' I see many adverts for bog standard cars that are a 'rare' special edition or colour... Now, if your talking a Mercedes 300SLR, or 911 RS, or something equally classical and likely to appreciate, then absolutley hang onto it.
  16. hey, thats over 4 years... thats only 0.03 posts a day, or just under one a month ;)
  17. nice. though lets not mention F1 cars do have a reverse gear :winky:
  18. has he overtaken me on post count yet? i wouldnt be surprised ;)
  19. It is sad, but it also restores your faith in humanity. I dont see the point in arguing about the gun control, it isnt going to change over there, and doubtless the NRA will hold a rally nearby the school very soon - but i dont care, what I care about is someone who knowingly gave his life so others could live.
  20. The word hero is thrown around so much nowadays, whether for some 17 year old sports hero, or someone who does something vaugly interesting for fun/charity/whatever. however, after the US shooting, I read this, and this guy truely deserves the title 'hero'. http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,91194-1261009,00.html "Israel Professor Liviu Librescu, 75, blocked the doorway of a classroom from the approaching gunman, his son has said. Students have sent e-mails to the mathematics lecturer's wife Marlena, telling of how he saved their lives. Son Joe Librescu, in Tel Aviv, said: "My father blocked the doorway with his body and asked the students to flee. Students started opening windows and jumping out."" It sounds like he didnt make it out alive, but he was one brave man .
  21. nope, your name is Mat, and your a big scarey monster
