  1. I always used Meguirers, but recently had my car detailed with the 7 grand zymol... its fantastic, but as you say, not worth it - however, paying for a proffesional to do it, and then you get a top-up kit, now thats worth it ;)
  2. Completley agree with SF... The goverment swept a 5 million signature petition against road pricing under the rug with a "we dont care what you want, we're doing it anyway" so what difference will another one make?
  3. i could tell you, but then i'd have to remove your eyeballs.
  4. actually no, it was a bit of a bargin, and i dont discuss personal information on open forums, call it a bad habit ;)
  5. Does look fantastic.....but im curious to....., how much? :D send me a mail and ill let you know :winky:
  6. I try mate, I try... the problem is, my abilities seem to run out well before the cars!
  7. oh i love it. Slightly more stressful experience than the Lexus though - recently needed a new battery which didn't do my blood pressure much good. But a fantastic car, when you use it everyday, you forget how much fun it can be to thrash it down a country lane... so its important to do it regularly so you dont forget! :winky:
  8. Now, I've always been one to look after my cars, I'm not obsessive and break into a sweat if i get some mud on my car, and quite enjoy the 'used' look - but that said, I do also love the look of a nice gleaming car, and have used Meguiers Gold Class since a US friend recomeded it to me, giving a nice deep shine and protective coat. However, the last 8 or 9 years and 80,000 miles have taken their toll on my Porsche and while I could get a nice deep shine, up close, the paintwork was full of swirls, scratches and imperfections. So, i decided to employ the services of Simon from Prestige Detail (no affiliation etc etc...) from PH. He turned up one afternoon to give me a quick demo of his Paintwork correction services and a quote for the Porsche, I found him very proffesional, and he did a good job on the small area he demonstrated, and I have to admit, having seen other pricing, it was a very competitive quote! So, cue Monday morning 8:30am, the sun is shining and he turns up raring to go. He starts with a one hell of a wash, normally i can wash, polish and wax the car in an hour or two, he spent this long giving it a really intense wash, and then started with the clay bar. After lunch he started on the paintwork correction, and stayed at it until 7:30pm, returning 8am the following day to carry on. Unfortunatly, the weather was cold and windy, but he solidered on up till lunch. Once the correction had been finished, he started on the Zymol HD-cleanser, and then applied the Zymol Vintage Wax by hand. He finished off by dressing the tyres, plastics, giving the interior leather treatment and the windows a nice sparkle, by which time it was 7pm... I am very impressed with the job he has done, it is a spectactular improvement, but being completley critical, he hasn't removed 100% of the scratches, there is still a few, but these were pretty deep (created by the previous owners cat I would guess! ) and he did set realistic expectations at the demo that these could not be completley eliminated, but they are practically invisible, and you have to know where to look, and be looking very hard to spot them, but then a 80k car rarely has perfect bodywork, and nothing short of a respray could bring it back to new! All in all, I am very happy with the job, I just wish the light hadn't been fading on a cloudy day, as the pictures really dont do the depth of shine justice! So I went out today and got some pics in the sunshine... :D I would highly reccomend Simon's services to anyone, he's based down in Exeter, though would travel a reasonable distance (he says he does London - just for reference) and if anyone wants his contact details, feel free to PM me!
  9. happy birthday Matt... assuming he still lurks from time to time! cant bring myself to wish a company happy birthday though ;)
  10. Completley contridicts your normal Moderation style there Ahmet... If it was anyone else thread i'd put money on you saying "this thread has run its course" and locking it :winky:
  11. As usual, your comments seek not to impress me, old matey Ian ! :) I wasn't aiming to impress you Ahmet, I'm not sickerfantic and say what i see (oh if only catchphrase hadnt been cancelled), and you have to admit, Forum April fools rank right up there with plastic dog poo when it comes to the hilarity stakes.
  12. ........ compared to yours ? lol at least someone had some humour for the day ! :winky: Excuse me for not having the sense of humour of a five year old ;) And Jason - i was more amazed after you posted it was April 1st people continued to believe it
  13. Jason did mention it at lunchtime... was a crap one though Ahmet...
  14. yes, its a bunch of scammers trying to take you for every penny ;)
  15. I think Google's home wireless was best ;) http://www.google.com/tisp/
  16. Yeah, they give you an extra 1-2bhp like the go faster stripes :) the point I was making was it is a pure asthetical question, one which is hidden for 99% of the time, and only the owner will really see.... so really its all down to him... Now if he'd asked whether he should get a TTE or electric supercharger, I may have had more of an opinion.
  17. what exactly is the purpose of the hoses? Does the colour make a difference to their performance? no. so go with the colour you most like. No rocket science ;)
  18. probably, but then there are a few under £20k... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/141217.htm
  19. True, maybe you can try a bit harder next time... ;) anyway got a new battery today and fitted it this evening. by the way, what are you doing over easter?
  20. no, not really. The problem is, the IS200 was faultless, it really was, so set a benchmark... Plus, the 911 is older with higher miles, and all it needed was a new lock part when i first got it - and now the battery lost some charge (only down to 10v, but that Flat 6 needs a lot of current to crank it!). It may need a new battery, i'll have to keep an eye on it... I can't complain really, its just funny how the Lexus gave me such a perspective, where having to buy a battery charger felt like the end of the world! and Rob, i'm sure you thrashing it down country lanes had nothing to do with it :winky:
  21. Trust me on this. Owning a Lexus is bad for your health. Not during the experience, oh no, but afterwards, you suddenly realise how reliable and trouble free they are. Take for instance, trying to start your car, you get a 'click click click', suggesting the battery has gone flat. Not something I had with my IS200 once in over 4 years and 50k. It was so reliable, it dents your perspective on reliability, and as such, I seem to be suffering a huge amount of stress by the tiniest little fault my latest car develops... Not good.
  22. doubtful... I mean, unless your buying a Honda Insight, car tax isnt cheap anyway - and the sort of people that worry about costs buy a Fiesta Diesel, not a Lexus. Now yes, being in the highest band for a 2.5 V6 saloon takes the :tsktsk: especially considering it costs a hell of a lot more to tax than mine, but the simple fact is, anything over about 2 litres is in that upper band, and whats an extra 50-100 quid a year really?
  23. Doubtful Rob - at the end of the day, its only a tank of petrol difference in price, for people prepared to pay the cost of a Lexus, I doubt it'll make much difference.
