I have also bought one of these wee cables (HMV) and I cannot get it to work! I see in the Lexus manual this function hardly merrits a mention. With a lot of car companys now advertising their i-pod conectivity as a big selling point why wouldn't we? Either this bit of my car is broken or -hopefully- the cable is a dud. I take it I'm not missing out on a programme to go into the MM or anything like that. Incidently, a girl in my work has just got a new VW Scirroco and is having the same bother. She has only tried it with my cable though. Her manual does go into it a bit more although I never had time to read it. Any advice folks?

I have had a 250 auto for 2 weeks now and I am well impressed with it. I, also have never had an auto box but think it is great. The performance is smashing and even had it at 140 the other night!!! Sorry but had to try it. It was still quiet, smooth and had plenty more to give. The car will accelerate fast if you just put your foot down! I'm not a boy racer type but, you know, new car and all that. If I had to go for a fast wee hatch then it would be the Golf GTI with leather and Sat Nav. Great car and was thinking of getting one before I had found the Lexus. Didn't fancy the ST, Type R, Leon, Astra etc and my mrs ordered me not to get the Golf cos she already has one! Agree that the Golf is boring unless in GTI mode.

Thanks for the replies. Bought the car from a non-Lexus dealer so I will have to check the warranty to see if that noise is covered. I very much doubt it though. Incidently, how long is the Lexus warranty? The car is Nov 2005. If it's for 3 years, is the car still under warranty even though it has a new owner (me) and not bought from lexus? Ta

Hi folks, just got myself a second hand IS250 SE Auto, 55 reg, MM, silver with black trim and 40k miles. My first ever Lexus. Had a Mazda 6 54 plate and hadn't even thought of the lexus but so far very impressed. Been messing about with the MM and have somehow made the on screen button dissapear which changes the display from night to day. This makes the map appear very bright at night. Car manual doesn't say much so does anyone know how to find the button again/change it? Also, I-pod. The car came to me without a lead to connect an I-pod to the aux point. Where do I get one. Would it have to be Lexus or would HMV provide such a thing. Or is it something less simple than a wee lead. Thanks for reading. Oh, also is the 'ratching' noise normal when i press the start button? Pleased tell me it is and isn't supposed to be silent.
