  1. 89447 miles, doesn't seem that cheap to me, but low miles for a 99 but mine has 82k
  2. put some heat on it?? may damage valve or alloy though, also might not be a bad idea to keep an eye on pressure anyway as there maybe a problem, think it's not been topped up for a while hence caps stuck on.
  3. tyres first, the police don't like bald tyres so keep an eye on them and you need to be safe, the brakes next but they will probably be ok for a bit and wear steadily, then sort exhaust on cheap from breakers yard a blowing exhaust etc shouldn't be that critical, some heat sheild can be removed without too much problems but depends on the design and what it's protecting
  4. my mates dad had the 225 on a 51 plate s-line and that was pretty fun, the cars are not boring as such, just grip far too well and very easy to drive quick, too composed and reassured for my liking, i found you have to drive like a looney to be involved and have to correct anything as the car just deals with what you throw at it, it made my ex bird think she could drive so it must of been good.
  5. advice on tt if mk1, i could never see out of it, out of the windscreen was poor, side front windows bad and anything past b pillar forget it, also prone for cambelts snaping so look into that, a lot quicker than lex, no turbo lag, very solid grip from quattro etc. found it boring to drive and not as enjoyable as is200, audi very expensive to service etc. 180bhp quattro 52 plate a few years back
  6. cheers everyone, got the tax sorted yesterday, they say emmisions were not recorded on v5 so goes on old system above 1.4 £190 for 12 months (not bad for 2.3t) handed in old disc to dvla etc (40 mins in queue). it's all fine now, wasn't running the car after i found out about tax problem a couple of hours after buying so it's had it's first proper run today. in the first few years it seemed to do a fair few miles but in last couple not done a lot to balance it out. still got is200 it's parked up sorn at minute(will always keep this, probably let the mrs have that and sell her cougar). plans for the t5 are 1 cosmetic work inside/out, 2 remap + induction/filter + service + v-power etc. should be 225 bhp standard but will service and v-power and rolling road to check, then induction and remap. done some research and standard internals and turbo with this should be 300bhp, which is what i will aim for, although with uprated turbo the internals can handle 400bhp tbh don't fancy more than 300 in fwd car for cost and don't think it will make the most of it, 3 needs new discs anyway so sort them 4 sort tailgate open error on dash, just a £2 switch in tail gate, it the sensor moves out of position sometimes and needs pushing back or fails with repeated use. just wanted to say i will be off on t5 club now (john 02v70t5) but thanks to everyone on this club, too many to mention but especially ormi (true legend), sparkystav and dj wozza etc. still will mod the is200 which is one of the best pieces of engineering i have ever owned. thanks
  7. just bought v70 ex police from private auction on saturday( but came straight from humberside police from new), has 4 months tax and mot 13-03-2010, 141k, bit tatty holes in roof, sticker residue, poor inside etc. 1. tax disc says police on it and nil cost, i assume i have to change on the log book tax classification to plg from police and pay for new tax, thinking about using to end of february and pleading stupid if stopped, or can i use police tax until end of feb??? 2. with those details does it seem like a good buy?????, cambelt done 84 k in jan 05, plugs 118k, turbo and engine and box seem ok. 3 hoping ormi can ask his mrs for advice for me, cheers
  8. it sounds like you are burning the clutch out, although it may possibly be something different. It's difficult to reverse up steep hills without doing this or stalling or shooting off like a rocket etc. Try driving forwards up it and then rolling back using the footbrake to then reverse out, instead of how you're doing it, not always possible for safety/visibility issues etc.
  9. ebay item numbers, don't know if these are any good. 120373582240 or 250520314892
  10. is that why they are only two years old and already rusty???lol(10 year old rust free is owner)
  11. new job all the way, you're only benefit in the old one is comfort zone, don't think any better of the old firm as you can't progress properly, only did anything for you when you were leaving, more to regret staying than leaving. not everything lasts for ever and sometimes things just run the course. once your in the new one after 6 months and fitted in and know what you are doing will be best move you ever made.
  12. not sure i would buy from a shoe sniffer. don't understand what i mean, check what he may have bought from mistress-bossy-boots (yes i know she lives in donny same as me before you all start) was just checking his feedback to see if he has sold car before and saw that and had to have a look what she sells. lol
  13. sat nav link now working properly, lots of good info by some very clever people, i can't understand any of it.
  14. right an se has built in amp, with a car with/without nav firstly remove the glovebox when you get a chance by looking underneath on the hinges, there are two plastic pins that come out, don't lose them and use a flat knife or screwdrive to pop them out, very tough by hand. once removed you will see the amp on the left handside, should have a couple of plugs in it, basically the amp can be removed and a plug that used to go in the amp now goes in your new iso lead, the other end then goes to the stereo, the lead is quite long about 2-3 foot, it's not one of those 6 inch iso's that you and i are used to. item 380162983931 from ebay eg. SECONDLY AS YOU HAVE SAT NAV YOUR SAT NAV WILL NOT WORK properly (no sound i think)without a different or other cable so you may not want to proceed, there are a few topics on here and a guy called fargo made his own wires which solved the problem, i just took my nav out (sold it)and replace with normal shelf (bought it)when i replaced the head unit. search is your best friend from here in this section or help from other members who have the nav option, not ideal advice i know but it puts you in the picture a bit more. have a play taking glovebox out and do some searching and you can see at least what your up against
