  1. Lol, yes it should say biennial! I'll get it tested. The local mechanic said if your coolant doesn't need replacing for 100k and that gets heated, why would your brake fluid need replacing? Anyone know if it's included as part of the essential care major service?
  2. Hi, My air filter replacement is due now. Any recommendations for the air filter? Options are OE ~ £25 K&M ~ £45 HKS ~ £35 Considerations in order are Value for Money (ecomony/mpg/replacement intervals), performance, engine noise. Thanks
  3. Hi, Lexus service intervals state the brake fluid must be changed every two years, however my local mechanic (non specialist) says this is a money making scheme, a simple contamination test will suffice. I have also read somewhere the bi-annual brake fluid change is required to prolong the life to vacuum pump. What is this, and how are the replacement costs? Cheers
  4. I had Dr Bones look at my Mk1 - 10 years ago (fantastic job). However I was hoping to avoid the 200mile round trip and premium charges.
  5. Ok to summarise. Any 4 Wheel alignment place can check to the official settings, however a specialist may be needed for adjustments?
  6. I gather there are no special settings like MK1? I.e place with 4 wheel alignment can carry this out?
  7. Better all round plugs, but less cost? I can't get my head around that one. Strangely sparkplugs.co.uk are no longer listing them as compatabile for the 250. Lexus Birmingham do the plugs at a fantastic £79.99 (much less than the £120+ being charged elsewhere). I'll stick to the manuals recommendations.
  8. Hi All, Does any one have any experiences with DENSO IRIDIUM TT SPARK PLUG IKBH20TT? They are listed as compatible and than half the price of the standard FK20HBR11. Cheers Len
  9. Thanks Mars, this seems to change with mods and not using OEM (dense sk20). I have spoken to a friend who was a top lexus techie, he has recommended going for NGK (Denso isn't worth the extra, avoid Bosch and Champion. He also recommended getting them changed more frequently due to the lpg and blower. Does anyone know what the NGK version of the IK22 is?
  10. Hi All, Does anyone know how long HKS plugs are supposed to last? I've done 40k/9 years and its misfiring. Coil(s) likely to need replacing. Can anyone suggest suitable replacements and intervals given the supercharger and lpg conversion? IK22 and 30k? Is there a cheaper NGK equivalent? Thanks,

  12. I ended up snapping the light trim in half. Its not obvious unless you are looking for it. About £80 from the dealers, I didn't ask it if was colour coded or not.
  13. Hi All, I have had a search and couldn't anything (recent). Can you recommend a group 1-3 seat for little Lenny? I need one for the IS and one for the Aygo. Looking for the best value seat, however I could be persuaded to spend more on a Recaro..
  14. Definite notice in improvement with the interim Lexus Servicing vs full X garage service. I'm not sure if the Lexus OEM engine flush and fuel treatments had anything to do with it.
  15. In a nutshell, I do now. The essential care services are very competitive compared to when I brought the car twelve years ago. On top of that Lexus Birmingham sorted me out with an even better package for a three year service plan. PM me if you want the chaps name. Long version.. After my warranty ran out, my car was serviced by a friend who is an award winning ex Lexus/Toyota techie. She was well looked after and didn't miss a beat. However Louise had been in storage for nearly 5 years and I now live quite a distance away from my friend. So last year I went with servicing stop.Co.UK for a major service, it was quoted at a tasty price but once surcharges were stuck on, it was quite expensive. They didn't care about the car, we're under trained to deal with it and it was just another number. Lexus gave her some proper TLC. Likewise I lost out with my Aygo going with servicing stop.Co.UK only to realise Toyota now offer fixed price servicing cheaper than I paid for with SS. I think for routine servicing Lexus are the way to go.
  16. Birmingham have sold two and the third orange one is expected to be snapped up soon.
  17. will post pics up as soon as :) they have such a cheeky character about them.
  18. agreed, but they have gone bust!!! I'm sure we must have people here who can make them on an exhange basis?! or write up a guide on how to do it...
  19. I'm up for it providing its after 14th december. I'm bringing the Aygo tho ;)
  20. i think they were all LHD, well the genuine ones anyway.
  21. Lovely cars, but slightly out of my budget Came very close to getting a new one, £17k 1.6 TDCi on a 3 year lease, but didnt want to spend that much driving an average joe focus, never been a fan of fords, cant believe i was 80% close to getting a new mk3 or 2nd hand mk 2. Ditto, cant see myself in a ford. I've heard a lot about the unreliability of these engines, put me off VAG completely. This is what my dad does and its his philosophy when it comes to cars, but I like my cars to run like new, so would spend ££s doing brakes, supension, tyres, engine etc I didnt find one in my budget with the right mileage. Tracking down the right second hand car seemed way too much hassle, and then making sure it was in good running order could have cost as much as a new car... So today me and the missus went and got a brand new top of the range Aygo (Platinum with A/C), 1/2 leather/suede interior (similar to the Lex, didnt really want this, but it was the only one available), 14" alloys :D , £20pa VED, 63mpg, 68bhp!! Picking her up on friday, Lexi Lou will be doing about 2k pa and should always look her best.
  22. Andy I always wanted a 306 since passing my driving test and looking at yours i remember why, but I cant be in the 206/7 307 herd. Shake, I want an oil burner, micra is too small. I'm leaning towards to a focus at the mo.. I had a primera 94 reg for 30k since 90k, and yes found it quite economical and reliable with it being neglected.
  23. Hi Guys, Need some advice on getting an A to B car to run to the ground 3years+, minimum of 50k (40% motorway,40% country A roads, 20% town) of life, here are the requirements: Hatchback Budget is between £2-4k Needs to return 50mpg+ Be reaonable comfortable Japanese reliability Must be cheap to maintain Reasonably good good handling and sum excitement Offer good chipping gains Nothing french Nothing too revolting Cars I've briefly looked at, would prefer something Japanese, but the good stuff is out of my range. Honda Civic 1.7 CDTi Top of my budget, VW Golf 1.9 Was looking at the 110 or 130, seems like reliability is a problem Nissan Almera French unit? Vauxhall Astra Ford Focus Mitsu Carisma Lacks a lot of it Many thanks Len
  24. 300s are basically sports version of the 200 auto pedals
  25. yep had this problem when i first got mine over 5 years ago, but then i stopped being a tight arse fill the tank up like most lexus owners :P the problem will get worse if you keep filling small amounts..
