  1. The download depends on your phone. Some phones 1 number at a time, others will take the whole book. The blue tooth implementation is not the best ! Found with my Sony K750i had to switch its blue tooth mode to power save (connects only to one device at a time) otherwise the phone book would not upload and would drop the connection after 10 minutes and refuse to reconnect unless the car was restarted. I have a Nokia 6310i and this works a lot better. However the voice quality with the mic in the roof is not good (just try listening to your voice mail message recorded over the bluetooth link !
  2. Ive not tried it yet but if Ive read the manual right, if you put down the roof, then disable the roof in the glove box, then try to close it via the switch, the rear windows go up...... I could be wrong though, and with weather like we have got Im not likely to find out soon !
  3. if any one is interested: Ebay link
  4. The old SC was a 53, so was after the run flat issue, hence my surprise at how different the new one is. And to compound matters Lexus are still shipping them with Dunlop SP tyres (2030's I assume). As for thye sat nav, Im assuming the unit has changed, with the introduction of traffic avoidance, and not just the DVD.
  5. Messa Red, the new dark red mettallic.
  6. After 3 years ownership and 54000 miles, I have been tempted back to the show room and bought another one, which I took delivery of last month. To be honest I am a bit stunned at how different the car is between old and new. That six speed box makes one hell of a difference in driveability and acceleration. 70mph is now well below 2k revs and at 100 doesnt even touch 3k. Pick up in the 50-70 range is much better (always found myself dropping down the gears in the old one). The real change though is in the suspension, much better round corners, wallows less, and has given up tramlining. I found a change of tyres on the old sc to goodyear F1's realy improved the grip, but the new car is much more driveable, without losing that crusing feel. All the toys are there, bluetooth, traffic avoidence and a map that includes the M6 toll (but not the new m62/A1). The sat nav also now handles postcodes, and preference for multiple users. The stereo now supports CD text, but for some reason doesnt sound as sharp as the old one, more muffeled especially on am. Dealership looking at this for me. I have to say Im very impressed at how the car has evolved, although I havnt tried it yet, there may even be a way to get the rear windows up with the roof down according to the manual.
  7. at 3000 revs in fifth, its about 90mph, taking this as the gearing 6000 revs should be about 180. Whether the car has the umph to straight line the performance is another question ?
  8. Anybody tried connecting one of these up to the sat nav screen and stereo ?http://www.caraudioplus.co.uk/pp/Audio_Visual/Visteon_Audio_Visual/NEW_Visteon_DVB-M1.html
  9. I have now completed 27,000 miles on my orginal tyres (not run flats) and they are still going strong. Can only surmise that runflat are more prone to wear than normal tyres.
  10. These kits are now available directly from the dealers !
  11. any body de-restricted the car, that is remove the *** top end limit. If so anybody worked out what the achievable top end is ?
  12. The main gripes for me: Echo the sentiments about the aerial – to be honest I don’t know why it needs one at all, many manufacturers embed them in the bumper these days Rain sensing wipers, really miss them after moving from the merc, and cant see any technical reason why the SC doesn’t have them. Another merc feature that I really miss is the speed limiter on the cruise control, its way to easy to drift well past the speed limit in the SC . Finally my biggest gripe, is just where the hell are you supposed to put your mobile phone, I’ve resorted to using the ash tray ! Many people seem keen to add remote hood and TV/DVD capabilities. Since the later are on the LS don’t see why they wouldn’t put in the SC.
  13. Not being funny here, but clearly with the top down its going to being noisy, especially as you past those 16 wheelers on the motorway. Top up its very quite, except it is a sport car and therefore you are not isolated from the lumps and bumps in the road, so expect some intrusion this way. However the engine is QUIET. Odd really considering most of its competitors growl away. I sat in a friends Maserati the other day, and at tick over that sounded louder than the lexus at full throttle !
  14. I'd be interested as well, can you send some detail to paul.calvert@quista.net
  15. Got mine a month ago, blue with cream interior. Love the car, its a real buzz to get in every morning. Only nag is that Lexus decided to leave of the automatic rain sensing wipers, dont understand why since most of the range has them.
  16. Anybody know where you can source those Tin conversions mentioned at the start of this thread ?
