  1. Thanks, Paul. That does sound like a reasonable explanation. I think we'll try and borrow an old non-smartphone SE or Nokia and try it out.
  2. Hi All, we've just acquired our second Lexus (I already have an RX350 SE) - a 2005 (05) SC. The car is fantastic - love it! There is something we haven't been able to work out though: when connected by bluetooth to the built-in hands free, the phone itself rings, but the SC's hands free does not ring. This is, ofcourse, fine when the phone is NOT on silent, but if it is, there is no sound notification that you have a call. The radio mutes, the touch-screen displays the incoming call, and you can answer the call etc. absolutely fine. The manual just says that the system will display the call "with sound" but nothing as to how to set/change that "sound"! Does anybody have any idea as to what we're missing? All suggestions gratefully received. By the way, we've tried using a palm pre, an iPhone 3GS and a blackberry, and the results are the same as described. Thanks in anticipation.
  3. Sorry, cant give you an answer, but I also have and RX350 (06) and have exactly the same problem. Purchased the car from a Lexus dealer couple of months ago, keep meaning to phone them up and ask. If I get round to phoning, I will let you know, or perhaps some kind person on here will enlighten us!! I finaly figured out the problem: my clock was set to "auto update". I think on this setting, the system checks its location & timezone via the satnav to establish the time first before the clock updates, hence the delay. I've now switched off auto-update, and the clock shows current time straight away. Mighty relieved about solving that!
  4. I wonder if any of you more seasoned RX owners may be able to help me. I've had my RX350 (06 plate) for a few months now and absloutely love it. I have, however noticed one thing with the clock: if the car has been left for a few hours (e.g overnight), when I firts start it up, the clock seems to show the time that I last drove it. After a few minutes, it catches up to current time and then is absolutely fine. Is this normal, or am I missing something and my car has some kind of fault? Any help/thoughts appreciated.
  5. Hi everybody, Happy New Year. I've had my RX350 for 4 weeks now and absolutely love it! However, I was wondering if any of you more experienced RX owners would know this: is it possible to set the clock in the RX350 (April 2006) to a 24hour clock format instead of the 12hour clock format? I've had a look through the settings and can't find anything - probably because I'm being dumb! Any thoughts much appreciated.
  6. Thanks for all your helpful replies. I've finally picked up my RX350 SE. and I absolutely love. And - of course you were right - the sat nav picks up straight away. As for the search by post code feature, well that's the same as was on my Honda Accord, i.e part post code only, so no loss there. The quality of the navigation instructions, however, are an order of magnitude better in the RX in my opinion. And, of course, the navigation screen itself is also superb. Merry Xmas All. Cheers
  7. I'll definitely come back and post my thoughts & comparisons - both in the drive & ownership of the cars, and specifically on the sat nav Cheers
  8. Thanks very much - that's great to hear. I'll post my first impressions of my first ever lexus when I've had a chance to drive over a week or so. Cheers
  9. Hi All, I'm a newbie to the LOC. I've traded my honda accord 2.4iVTEC Exec for a RX350 SE with all the toys which I pick up on Saturday - can't wait! I do have one question which, hopefuly, one of you very knowledgeable and experienced owners will be able to help me answer: when you first start the car, how long is it before the sat nav gets a satellite fix and is able to start giving directions? I ask because, on the honda, it is within a minute, but on my wife's tomtom, it can take up to 5 minutes. I had an afterfit dvd screen fitted to a saab 95 I once owned, and although when that got going it was very good and accurate, sometimes it could take 10 minutes to get ready - nearly made me late for an interview once! Any thoughts would be much appreciated. I guess I'll find out one way or another pretty soon! Cheers.
