  1. this topic been covered many times, have a read of this article http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/tota...38/results.html the cheapest tyres were still travelling at 30mph when the best tyre has stopped the car already, so if u value your loved ones then at least get the midrange tyres like Falken ZE912 or Hankook Evo V12 from say an online shop and get it fitted locally if you are on a tight budget. Really why keep the is200 if budget is a big concern, it is one of the more expensive car to keep as far as running cost is concern.
  2. I usually put £20 at 111p approx 18 litres per week on my is300 here in London, and I get around 75 miles when the light comes on, been averaging the same £20 at 111p fill up for the last 3 weeks. So by my calculation this should be 18.94 mpg all London city driving.
  3. v nice! Congt I have the same red colour is300 and similar mileage as well ! So far been faultless except with the broken plastic bonnet clip and mpg is nothing boast about :)
  4. sorry to dig up an old thread. My IS300 is having difficulty starting in the morning now as well, having to try 3 times with a bit of gas before it kicks into life in the morning, but once it is hot, it will start no problem. So just a follow up, did the ecu upgrade solve the problem? I assume only Lexus has this upgrade, if so can I ask how much did it cost? Thanks
  5. Hi all, just like to see other member's insurance in 2009 for their is200/300. This year the comprehensive insurance has increased from £450 with Bell to £730 with no change to any personal circumstance at all??!!! This is with 6 years no claim and over 30+. I tried all the comparison web site, and this is the best figure I came up with. Can't understand why... my other car a Civic has also increased by £150.00. Luckily I can use cashback site to bring it back close to last years figure. What happened to the insurance industry, want to price us out of driving cars, or are they making as much ££ as possible in the current economic climate? Incidentally, I played around with the comparison website and 0 no claim bonus. The cheapest figure came out as £2470.. the price of some is200???!!!! really confused ??!!
  6. Hi all just want to know if anyone is aware if the Lexus is300 sportcross is ever sold in Australia. I am scheduled to move there in 6 months time so considering if I should ship the is300 back, just can't bear to selling it, but don't want to ship it to Australia to find I can't get any spare parts or worse still no insurance company will insure it. From my research I know the is300 sedan is sold there, but I just can't confirm anything about the sportcross. I have tried searching on the internet and posting on the Aus lexus forum, but not getting any response.
  7. Guys im completely confused about the car tax ruling for the is200 now after reading this thread. I am about to buy an is200 myself but after reading from the thread it looks like a 1st march 2001 car will be £400+ yet from Parkers its only £215 from april 2009 and £245 april 2010. I also called up DVLA and they confirmed the same info on Parkers web site? http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/road-tax/?de...amp;deriv=16549 Your input will help to decide if it is going to be a pre March 2001 or later model. I don't want to stuck paying £400+ for the is200, esp to this govt who does nothing to help the motorist. 2nd Q, off topic here, how many set of keys did you get from lexus when the car was new 3 or 2 sets? Thanks
