  1. Hello, the gearbox oil in my IS200 needs changing. I took it to a local garage who said the oil needed to be removed from the gearbox with a vacuum. Is that a load of chuff? I've done some seaches in these forums and no one mentions needing to vacuum the oil out. Anyone changed it themselves? I've got a trolley jack and a couple of axle stands but I'm not too keen on getting under the car to do this. Thanks, Pete
  2. Hello, does anyone know the capacity of the limited slip diff on the IS200 sport? I have used the search but couldn't find anything, Also, anyone got any recommendations for which oil to refil it with? Ta, Pete
  3. Hello, does anyone have the Lexus list of what checks and work are meant to be done as part of the major and minor services? I've changed oil, filters, plugs, discs/pads myself on my Is200 and want to see what else I should be checking or replacing regularly. I used to have something like this for my MR2. Thanks, Pete
  4. Hello, I'm after some help please. I had constant metal grinding sound from the drivers side rear wheel. The disc on that side was badly corroded so I had the discs and pads on the back changed as I thought would get rid of the noise. I now get an even louder noise from that same wheel but only when turning right. The noise doesn't increase or decrease when I brake. And, since the pads and discs were changed the handbrake has loads more travel in it. I parked on a slope and I pulled the handbrake up to where I normally would and the car rolled back. I'm presuming the noise and the handbrake travel are related but maybe they are not. Any ideas what could be causing the noise?
  5. Hello, I have two stupid questions that I'd like answering when you've stopped laughing at me. I've bought a new air filter and a new set of plugs and want to replace the existing ones on my IS200. I've changed these parts on my previous cars, MR2, 205, and it was easy to figure out how to do each. I've had a poke around in the engine bay but can't see where either part is. Does anyone have a photo of the bay with these highlighted? Or, is there a workshop manual online somewhere. Appreciate any help. Pete
  6. Stevie, do you know which diff oil to put in the IS200 Sport?
  7. Hello, just about to order some oil for the LSD on my IS200 sport. I've read somewhere, can't remember where though, that the LSD takes 0.9l of oil to fill. I've searched on the forums but can't find the capacity. Can anyone clarify this before I but too much/little oil? Thanks.
  8. Hello, my front discs on my IS200 are on their last legs. The front pads are only half worn. I've just been online to price up some discs and the website said you need to replace pads as well if you're replacing discs. Is there any reason for this or is the site just trying to get me to buy pads which I don't need? Also, anyone know the cheapest place to get discs? I've just had to fork out for the timing belt, ouch.
  9. Hello, I've got a IS200 and it's due some routine service work. I was thinking of changing the diff oil amongst other things. I know which oil to get as it's in the service book but I'm wondering how difficult a job this is. Have any of you done this and if so how easy was it? Also, I've had a search of this forum and there seems some lively debate as to where the axle stands and jack should go. I've got a trolley jack and a couple of axle stands. What's the best place to position these so I can still get at the drain and fill plugs. I presume there is a drain and a fill plug? If anyone has got any pics of the plugs i'd be super grateful for them.
  10. Hi Guy, it Fuchs Titan something. I think I actually bought it from you from you for my MR2. Pete
  11. Hello, I've 5 ltrs of 5w-40 oil (bottle still sealed) from my previous car. Would this be ok in my 52 plate IS200 with 41k on the clock and full Lexus service history? I've seen 5w-30 being recommended on this forum but wonder how much difference there is between that and the oil I've got sat around. Greatful for any help. Pete
