  1. Above posters are correct ! I do have Xenons, which I was getting confused with Halogens. I was confused by the lack of projector like the later HID lights, but after some web searching realised Xenons do also come in a reflector style, and since they do "flash" on ignition and auto self level they are the Xenons. So the kit won't be as good as the factory setup, fair enough, thanks for putting me straight.
  2. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lexus-GS300-GS430-GS...%3A1|240%3A1318 So is this kit good value and a worthwile improvement to my Xenons ?
  3. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lexus-GS300-GS430-GS...%3A1|240%3A1318 So are these any good ?
  4. A biot of googling threw up that Is200 calipers and GS300 calipers are the same.........does this hold true to GS430's as well ? Maybe I could use an Is200 brake upgrade kit.........*scratches chin*
  5. So I have a very slightly sticky front caliper. Not taken it off yet, but I suspect a sticky piston or one of the slide pins has seized. I will take it off this weekend and have a proper look, but if I go to the trouble of taking of a caliper, I normally replace it with a remanufactured unit. It got me thinking......Is there another front caliper from Toyota that gives better performance ? Maybe a Supra caliper or a 2005 model caliper that fits the hub assembly ?
  6. I think I have found the answer : http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...art=#entry52517 Says : If you have a floor jack and are not lowered or have a kit that will hinder a jack from getting to the middle of the car, you can use the suspension cross member in the front or the differential in the rear as jack points. I will give it a go at the weekend......I will let you know if the diff punches a hole in the boot
  7. Hmmm it seems we are "alledgedy" down on torque as well - 308 ft pounds compared to 325 foot pounds. We have been robbed !
  8. I have noticed that the US Gs 430 cars are listed as being 300bhp, and the UK ones at 280bhp. Is there is any real difference ? At a guess it is the OBD2 emissions controls that cause a problem........... If there are different parts, can I put them on my UK Spec car and gain an extra 20bhp ?
  9. I use a hockey puck with a slot cut in for lifting on the sills......... But usually there is an exposed subframe part that is safe to lift from.............and there is less chance of damaging the sills. The RX300 people have a good thread about it, but its not the same gor the Gs430 I would only want a lexus dealer to show me, but its a 15 mile drive to one..... having seen the mess normal garages make of the underside of most cars...its one of the reasons I do my own maintinence wherever possible. Does no-one here jack their own car up on a regular basis ?
  10. So where do I place a trolley jack and axle stands on the GS430 ? The chassis rails feel too thin.........ideally I need two points at the front and rear, one to jack and one to place the stand under.
  11. Well....there is some merit to that statement....but a good owners club can save you a packet on getting the right parts at the right prices. And Lexus, well they seem to put a "Lexus owner Tax" on parts that is unresonable in my eyes. Same part from Lexus was 196 pounds. Toyota wanted 176 pounds. Denso US is 100 pounds ( 70 pounds + shipping ) I have sourced a facet OE Replacement for £ 53 from camberly auto factors today.
  12. Thanks for the detailed responses guys. Aido you have the Aristo twin turbo car ? I had looked at some of those but could not find one in a condtion that satisfied me over 4 months of looking =-( Yours looks loovely though. I suppose you have seen all the vertex videos of an Aristo chasing various things around a track. I saw a forum post that complained that a universal one gave an error code on the 430 as the heater had a 4ohm not a 12 ohm resistance....don't know if anyone else has tried it, but it would save me a lot of money using a bosh filter, the Denso one from the US is 100 quid once you add shipping..... ! I am refering to the visible drive belt at the front of the engine, that runs ( I think ) the steering and aircon etc.
  13. Hi ! New Lexus GS430 owner. Model is the 2001 GS430 LS with Nav. I have recently bought a Gs430 - enjoying the car hugely. I switched from a Mazda Mx3 and was active on the forums over there for the past 5 years ( although I rarely had to use them as the car was so reliable.=-) I need to order some parts, and was wondering about the best places to source. I am new to this forum, so if this breaks any advertising rules feel free to PM me, or moderate the topic as you see fit. 1. I am showing a check engine light - I ran my OBDII reader on it, code P0135 which tells me the O2 sensor 1 bank 1 is faulty. Through forum posts I found the pre-cat O2 part on densoaftermarket for 70 pounds. Is this definately the one to go for or, or is there a preferred uk supplier ?. http://www.densoproducts.com/resultsSearch...Number=234-4138 I have been looking at the online workshop manual at http://bahamutcars.free.fr/workshop/GS_97-...ents/index.html but it still leaves me a little fuzzy about which one it is. Is it accessible without dissassembly of anything... or is there a photo of it anywhere ? 2. The spark plugs are due for renewal at 60k, I understand there are 8 iridum plugs to change, any good suppliers ? I understand lexus want an arm and a leg. 3. Aux Drive belt - its due replacement at 60k, looks like an easy job I prefer OE spec independantly sourced parts, as oppposed to universal or pattern parts....but if they are "known good" I will compromise my standards.=-) .
