  1. I'll be buying a towbar within the next week, If anyone has one they want to sell let me know.
  2. I had a place in newport lined up and prepared to do the work to wim's specifications (king david tyres) but I bottled it after reading on here how many places got it wrong even with wim's settings, so I made the trip to wim's and have to say it was well worth it!! Tony commented on how "sick" my car was but was "fixable", very professional and friendly guys who really know their stuff, if you want peace of mind it's been done properly first time follow the advise of many others on here and make the trip yourself, there's even a good cafe a 5 minute walk away so you can re-fuel before the enjoyable trip home :D
  3. Niceone "superblackbird" at least you got the problem sorted...where did you get the KYB shocks..do you have a link to the site..? The thing is im not to sure what the OEM shocks are ..think they are either made by..."KYB or another company"..or by "Tokhico"..???? I will have to get some new ones...its driving me mental.... :duh: http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/shock-absorbers-lexus.php Thats where I got mine from, couldn't find cheaper anywhere else, I understand the kyb's are oem but not 100% sure
  4. I had a knocking noise coming from the rear n/s when going over rough roads in my recently purchased is200 with 79k, took it to a garage and asked them to check the shocks and they said they couldn't see anything wrong with them and no signs of them leaking etc, not convinced with there verdict I rang the previous owner and asked him if the shocks had ever been replaced by him which he replied no, after searching on here for hours I decided that due to the mileage to change them anyway and ordered a full set of kyb shocks and had them fitted, hey presto!! no more knocking!! turns out that both front and rear n/s shocks were shot, not saying that this is what anyone elses knocking problem is but generally I think if your mileage is fairly high and your on the originals get them checked properly by removing them from the car.
  5. I used that guy (ricerocket) many times for my fto parts and can confirm he's a 100% genuine guy.
  6. At the top of your first post on the right hand side is a drop down box "options" click that then click "standard" under display modes, mpg can vary quite a lot, i've only been getting an average of 22-25 out of my auto but my first long run to wim yesterday I achieved a whopping 36mpg.
  7. Well I was so impressed with my is200 when I bought it a fortnight ago I didn't think it could get any better, had a few niggles to sort out but didn't think it could possibly improve anymore, first job a new set of tyres, secondly sort out that knocking on the rear, I was sure it was the shock and after reading on here it's a comman problem I bit the bullet and ordered a full set of kyb's..... am I glad I did!! WOW what a difference, It turns out one of the fronts were shot also, next job....geometry, Wim's is a good 2 1/2 hr drive away so I thought about asking for the settings and getting it done localy but after reading a few posts on here of some halfwits still getting it wrong despite having the Wim settings passed on I've decided to make the trip to the experts so i'm booked in for next week and I can't wait :D
  8. I got that link from on here, so it must of been you that posted it ^^ :) delivered within two days and can't fault that price!!
  9. I just ordered a full set of kyb shocks for £230 to my door off these guys http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/
  10. Thanks for all the welcome's!! was it not an upgrade option for the full leather then? someone has gone to the expense of having it re-trimmed or swapping it out of a much later car, surely the half suedes are comfier aren't they?
  11. Hi, just bought a 1999 is200 se auto and i'm a very happy bunny, have owned a wide range of cars over the years including 3 brand new ones within the last 10 years and i've just parted with an fto to buy this is200, it's everything I was expecting and more and i'm a lot happier with this car than the new ones I've owned even though this is 10 years old. Got a few little niggles to sort out, one being on braking I get a VERY small wobble on the steering wheel at around 40mph which I put down to tyres/balancing but after having a new set fitted yesterday it's made no difference, don't think it's warped brake discs because I would feel it at braking whatever the speed wouldn't I? maybe it's just me being over sensitive!! The other is I think near side rear shock has gone because it clunks in that area going over bumps And the last niggle is the alloys need re-furbing, comman problem I believe with toyota alloys It's got full leather which I believe is quite rare (would have preferred half leather half suede though) and has been well looked after with previous disabled owner having changed cambelt twice in the last 5 years despite only covering 20k in that time.
