  1. If my maths is correct, the drop will take 15.76 seconds
  2. I've used water from a water butt for years. No problem with bits in the water as the outlet is a couple of inches above the bottom, dirt sinks & leaves etc float - you get clean water from in between. Clean it out once a year and fit a hoselock connector instead of the tap - you can then run a pressure washer if its below the level of the outlet. Rain water is also softer than tap water.
  3. I believe its under the rear parcel shelf.
  4. Using them for speed enforcement is new. I'd be interested to know how much of the network they plan to cover like this. The M42 trial is about 10 miles.
  5. Latest speed scamera system here. A bit of caution advised, I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of the Governments standard 'leak something really bad and the punters will be happy when we introduce something only half as bad' schemes. This also assumes that they can get it working, the government record with introducing big IT systems is not good (Child Benefit, Income Support, Passports, Swanage air traffic ... ). The article does refer to the DVLA database being in a bit of a state. Still doesn't sound good, you'll spend all your time watching the speedo.
  6. Wasps. Friend of mine came got rid of a nest in his place by mounting a fan blowing across the front of the entrance hole. They could get out but not back in. He left it going for a few days until the wasps stopped coming out then blocked the hole up. Good bit of lateral thinking I thought.
  7. Paint em blue & add some aerials.
  8. I don't think it matters where the images / video are stored. The MD5 hashcode is used to verify that the evidence have not been tampered with. As the hashcode can theoretically be changed, there is no way of proving validity in court. They'll fix this by using another system - looks like it will delay things for a while though.
  9. Monaro's used to be a bit chav when I was younger. Plenty of power & torque but the live axle and leaf springs meant axle tramp was terrible off the line and they were lethal at the first corner. The new ones are quite nice & handle well. There are some good mods for them too on Australian web sites - superchargers, suspension etc plus the engine, nothing sounds like an iron block V8. Dollars / laugh however one of these would be worth a look if they sold them here. Nearly the same engine spec and very tail happy. Plus you can get more sheep in the back than a Ferrari.
  10. Assuming they test it and don't just rubbish it in the 'News' section, script will be : 1. Intro explaining the Lexus / Toyota connection. Mention small market share in Europe compared to Germans & Jaguar. 2. 30 secs slagging off the current IS including as many Alan Partridge references as possible. 3. Cursory review of looks, performance etc. Half of the time will be spent on some small detail like the shape of the ashtray or the way the light switch works. 4. Conclusion. Not as good as a B*W 3 and final Alan Partridge comment. As noted by others, entertainment only.
  11. Lexus dealers have them :winky: Its fairly basic though - no colours, trims, prices etc. Most of the info is on the Lexus UK website although there are a few new bits. Proper brochure is due nearer to release.
  12. No spring on my '200 either. There is a rubber but it only compresses a few mm before taking the load. I have got about 6mm play in the cable which I'll look at but I don't think there is the improvement suggested for the '300.
  13. The NASA one is quite good as well. Quite a big download but has some nice toys.
  14. Dodgy, thanks very much for pointing this out - wife was caught last year in these roadworks. Will be following this up as her insurance company used this to bump up the premium.
  15. A few different colours here plus some footage of one in motion. Thanks Alan P for the link.
  16. 'Life is like a burnt steak. Its black, its hard and the chips are stacked against it.' Mayall, Mayer and Elton
  17. I've just been through this myself. One dealer said it needed doing at 60k, another (from the same group) said 100k. I phoned Lexus UK and the official answer is : 100k or 6 years. This is changed from 100k/10 years in the service book.
  18. Lexus GB say it has changed to 100k/6 years. Looks like I can put it off till next year then
  19. I've been phoning around to organise a 60k service and have been told by one dealer (Exeter) that the timing belt needs changing as Lexus have revised the interval down from 100k/10 years. I know this has been discussed a few times recently but none that I searched gave much more information. Does anyone know if this is correct? (None of the other dealers mentioned this).
  20. Scrubbing brush and a bit of elbow grease for me. I don't like the glossy finish of most tyre black products - don't look natural.
  21. I do corners as well, all legal & calm. If the limit is 60, I just keep it at 60 if I can. Most of these idiots don't know how to go round corners and soon back off after a couple of 'brown trouser' moments.
  22. The kit is around (as I'm sure you know). Been random roadside breath testing in Australia for 20 odd years now. Just a matter of making the portable kit legal to use etc in the UK - where there's a will they'll find a way! In my home town, they used to have a 'Booze Bus' with 10 - 15 coppers on board. They'd stop beside the road & set up shop for a couple of hours, stopping every car that passed. By the time word had got around they'd moved on. Made a serious impact on drink driving at the time.
