  1. already stated in my 1st message that I have done that!!!!!!!!
  2. I did think that it probably wasn't a fuse issue, due to the reason that you have stated, however, I am not an expert! Thanks for confirming that! Sounds like it's a job for a garage to fix, which I was hoping to avoid - At least I can open the boot with the key so no real urgency. It's just annoying 😞
  3. Hope someone can help with this. I am unable to open my boot with the Keyfob, the button on the boot itself, nor the button inside the car itself. I can ONLY open it with the key. I have checked the boot security button in the Glove compartment ( I know some call it the Valet button) and it is On (I have checked it in the Off positon also, just in case), so it isn't simply just pressing this and trying again, unfortunately When I press the Button inside the car and the Keyfob button I can hear a click of what i guess, is the relay switch, but the boot won't open. I did have to change the battery a couple of weeks ago, but I have done this before and i never had this issue then. Is there a fuse that this links to at all? Appreciate any assistance or guidance anyone may have. Thanks (oh, by the way, it's a 2005 IS250 SE - Manual)
  4. Appreciate the recent comments, but this was dealt with over 2 years ago. Just thought I'd mention that 😁👍
  5. Only thing I can think of it to try Michael on the email above The email is also on this website link http://www.ashpoint.com/index.htm
  6. I fitted one of these to my IS about 5 years ago and am really please with it - still working and still going strong. Yes, It did come with a wiring loom which helps a lot. there is still a small amount of splicing and Soldering though, but it doesn't take long (I managed it and I am not gifted in that department). I assume you tried this email Michael Rychter michaelr@ashpoint.com.au
  7. So it turned out to be the Rear N/S Hub bearing that was causing it. Stripped and replaced and now sounding a lot more like a Lexus should - Quiet!!!! Happy days Thanks for all the possible Causes all. Much appreciated
  8. I wonder if anyone here is able to give me an idea as to what is wrong. I am getting a rubbing noise whilst driving, which seems to be coming from the wheels (though not sure which one or if many) but I could be mistaken there. The frequency of the noise increases as speed increases, and I think the only way I can describe it, is that it sounds like a washing machine on spin cycle, that has an uneven load. Some days it is worse than others, and to me, it seems worse when I go around a roundabout or turn right!! I am thinking wheel bearing or Wheel hubs, but I am no expert at all. Car has done 112000 miles, so I am keen to try and get an idea of how much it might cost to fix. If it is too much then it may be time to say goodbye to it. The Clutch has just been replaced as have the rear brake pads and all 4 tyres, so have already spent a fair bit on it in the last 5 months. Appreciate any guidance.
  9. I have got this notice for the Airbag Recall, so it is a legitimate recall notice. Suppose I'll have to get it sorted then :-)
  10. Ah, Is that what the juddering is!!! In that case, yes the flywheel does need changing. That has kind of decided it then :-) Thanks again for the input .Well appreciated :-)
  11. Hi Shahpor, Thanks for the input. I have had the car since 2009 when it had only 18500 miles on the clock, so I know it well. Deep down, I suppose I knew the answer as there was no reason for Halfords to make that up. Secretly I was hoping it wasn't though as it is a lot of money. I think, realistically, that I would like to keep it for as long as I can now as I'd only get peanuts for it now. As far as I can tell, there is nothing to indicate there is anything else wrong with it. I've only ever had to change tyres and lightbulbs o it, so I suppose I am due a big one I guess a decent garage will be able to tell me "what is what"
  12. I have been told that I need the clutch replacing on my car (no surprise as it has done over 100K miles) as it is slipping a fair bit. I took it to Halfords to do the clutch check (Yes I know, - not the best choice, but it was a free check) and they have said that I will likely need the Fly wheel replacing also. Obviously, from my point of view, that is a serious amount of money. So before I commit to getting it done (somewhere other than Halfords, of course), can anyone confirm what they are saying?? Is the likelyhood being that the flywheel will need replacing or are they "bumping up the bill". Any advice / guidance is well appreciated and you have my thanks
  13. Thankfully, my issue seems to have cleared itself, without any input from myself. Not sure what was going on there!
  14. Got an OBD-II and Torque Pro as suggested ( a very useful piece of kit, by the way ) and it came up with error code P0301 - Cylinder 1 misfire. Hopefully it'll just be something simple like the spark plug, but at least I know what I should be told when I head to Lexus for proper detailed analysis :-) Thanks for the tips, suggestions and steers people. Very much appreciated
  15. Thanks all, Have order a Bluetooth ODB 2 reader so will hopefully get to the bottom of it soon. Unfortunately, not as simple as the fuel filler cap. Good thought though
  16. Can I get any ODB-II or do I need a specific one? Apologies, am new to this side of things
  17. Hi all, Hoping someone can help with some guidance. I started my !S250 this morning and the Check VSC message appeared and stayed on my dash along with the Engine light and stability light (I think that is what they are) - I have attached a picture of the dash showing that lights that are on. Id doesn't seem to have had any impact on the car performance as I have just done a 50 mile stint with the lights still displaying (hopefully, I've not done any damage). My car is a 55 plate IS250 SE Manual and its done about 76K. I had this before when I got the car many years ago, and I think the dealer just reset it. Is there anyway I can try and pinpoint the issue. I'm obviously hoping that it's not serious, so all guidance is gratefully received...
  18. Ok, so I managed to rip off my front bumper while reversing out of a drive and have sheered some of the fixings off completely on the drivers side. What a numptie!!! Any-one know where I can get a replacement one in Canterbury Blue, around the South-East area for a 2005 SE model, or can anyone recommend a good place to get it repaired in the Surrey area. All suggestions gratefully received! Thanks all
  19. Got mine as a used from Lexus Tunbridge Wells 3 years ago. It rattled a little during the test drive but I still bought it. Rattle got worse driving it home. It was so loud that I could hear it over the stereo. Sounded like a whole piggy bank of coins had been dropped behind the dash. Got mine fixed free on the warranty, but then I did get it from a Lexus dealer. The fix does involve taking the dash off and changing the fixings as you quite rightly point out, though.
  20. Ah yes, I forgot about that, which I shouldn't have done as my mum has an SC430 which was registered on 1st March 2006 and so is £245 to tax instead of over £400. It means a '55' reg or very early '06' reg manual IS250 would be cheaper to tax. No worries. I have to say it took me an age to work out these rules when it came to getting mine. They are very good at making these really complicated so you don't know just how much you will end up paying in tax, until you get the reminder through the door, and then it's too late to find you've read the rules wrongly :-)
  21. Actually, that's not true for a car on a 55 plate as the road tax is the same as for the auto as it will also be in group K. The rule for Group K is something like "Includes cars emitting over 225g/km and first registered between 1 March 2001 and 23 March 2006", which a IS250 on a 55 plate falls in to. This is why I went for a IS250 manual which was registered in Dec 2005, and I pay £245 in road tax. Check on the Direct Gov site or The AA or something for more detail.
  22. Ah, the dreaded dashboard rattle issue. Not as simple as it sounds. This is well known on these forums and many have complained about this to Lexus, myself included. There is a standard fix that they do to remedy this, which is covered by the warantee if you have it. If not, have a search through these forums as I'm sure I saw somewhere the detail of the Lexus fix.
  23. Ok, Not sure if anyone else has had this. I have a minor issue when I do a left turn of about 90' or more, and (generally) whilst going uphill. When I make the turn, I get a ping (like a warning ping) from the dash and the interior overhead light flashes once then settles down. Haven't seen any other warning lights displayed (I though it might be the traction control) but I keep missing it if it does flash. Anyone got any ideas. I'm wondering id ther is a sensor on the drivers door which momentarily triggers. All suggestions gratefully received!
  24. As with many choices like this, it's down to your own personal preference. It's all well and good asking the general concensus of what other people think you should go for (which is what advice is all about) but at the end of the day, I suggest that you really need to take both cars out for a decent test drive (puttingthem both through a similar pattern of conditions and speeds) and see what YOU like/ prefer. I took 3 cars out, Diesel, Petrol Auto and petrol manual. Before I did this I was going to go for the diesel, but once driving the petrol version, the diesel was discarded. I then drove the Petrol manual, and yes the gearbox was "kicky" and not the smoothest drive in the world thoughI did find that I got better changing gear during the drive. The Auto was a lot smoother - agreed - but I have to confess, it bored me, and I've never been able to get on withthe paddles (had them on my Alfa a while back & hated them then). So I went for the petrol manual, as you can probably gather. Had it 5 months now and have "mastered" the gear change somewhat (with the occassional lapse). I've never had any problems getting away in 1st either. At the end of the day, it's down to what you prefer as I said above, but do make sure you give both a decent test drive. Good luck & happy driving!
