  1. I don't have any clunks! And yeah, the ChChChCh's frequency is relative to speed. It's a pretty distinct sound, I'm well aware clunks and rattles are almost impossible to diagnose but this is a definite sound of its own.
  2. It could literally be a million things? Surley someone has a vague idea seeing as it's only happening on weight in that corner?
  3. Hello. I'm a bit worried about my IS300. I have a, fairly loud noise now actually, coming from (I think) front right corner when I turn to the left, when the weight is on front right corner if you see what I mean. The noise is a sort of chchchchchch sound, much like a high powered sprinkler system if you know what I mean. It's definitely gotten worse over time and now it's a bit of a concern. May or may not be related to some wheel wobble I get under braking from 60 odd mph? It's not brake discs though as I've recently had those all changed. Any help would be much appreciated! Don't know wether something is about to go Pete Tong or not!
  4. All I've done is add the sports grille and have new snazzier plates made up, other than that totally standard. Yes, I very much enjoyed the runs! I'm actually pretty pleased with my times also, pretty much exactly 16 seconds, on all four runs. Good reactions too!
  5. Yep, don't see many. Especially not many IS300s going down 1/4 mile :D Have to admit mine did get a lot of attention and people wanting to talk about it, look under bonnet e.t.c. Mostly admiring though I would hope! I was camping with my Celica lot, car was there saturday night and on sunday I just parked it in public after I was done with my dragging. Next time eh!
  6. I'm a bit of a lurker here and don't really post since I've had my Lexus, but I saw you lot on my way back down from each 1/4 mile run, I think a few of you saw me and wondered why you hadn't seen me before around your club bit, but I'd gone down with me old crew! Mine was the black IS300 with square rear plate and sports grill if anyone recalls! (This was earlier on the sunday) I came had a look a bit later on, some nice looking metal you've all got ;). Should say hello next time really!
  7. I need to change my discs & pads because they're slightly warped and they're very screechy! My question is, what is the importance (in the real world please) of the quality of disc? I only ask because I can't really afford top dog parts, and have found this on ebay and it looks fine, the dics are unbranded but pads are Mintex. Should this be ok? Anyone got any useful information? Thanks in advance!
  8. Thanks for your kind offer mate, however mines an IS300 and I need drive belt tensioner not timing belt, already done that! Thanks everyone else for links e.t.c, I did call Lexus but the parts were expensive, but I suppose they're going to be anyway :(.
  9. As the title suggests, I'm in hasty need of a few bits for my 2001 IS300, I need: A Water pump Drive belt tensioner bearing (though I've got a feeling I might have to get a whole tensioner) Radiator Of course I can get them from Lexus, but I can't really afford to. Does anyone have any clues where I could look? I'd prefer new parts so not really keen on breaker yards.
  10. I'm shocked. I don't have an IS200, I have an IS300... I paid (just yesterday actually) £600. 23 years old, 4 nears ncb, 3 points. That policy is protected no-claims (could have got it for just under £500 unprotected). Noone else on the policy but me. Not too bad, right?
  11. Looks good though I think, and really I can't see any old bill being too anal about the technical legality of it, at least I've not used a stupid font or anything (though the letters are carbon style lettering!)
  12. They're import size plates yes! I wouldn't know about the legality ;).
  13. I know, I've only just got my IS300 and yes, I know, I said I wouldn't modify this one... So sue me... Received my new plates in the post on saturday and got them fitted, I much prefer them to the ones it came with (rear had standard UK size). If it looks a bit odd it's because I've edited out two of the characters :P. Also bought a sports grille but that won't be fitted till next weekend because I'm having timing belt & tensioner done during the week and I don't want the mech to scratch a brand new grille on the off chance, so that'll give me something to do next weekend :D. Whaddya think? (Before anyone feels they should mention it, yes, I do realize)
  14. I've given myself nightmares about the Err3 message on the CD player now :(. Mines a 2001 IS300 and still working... Just how common is it :S. And if it does go, I guess I can kiss goodbye to navigation aswel unless I fork out for a new OEM sterio?
  15. I'm going to give this ago tomorrow now! Will get it all masked up as suggested! Thank you all very much for the help
  16. I ordered and received an OEM bulb with it's own plastic holder so I assume that's all I need, I hope I don't have to solder that! I'm changing it because it's blown, not to change for blue ones. Thanks for the help everyone I'll try this tomorrow!
  17. Alrighty, actually it sounds rather intimidating. It's going to a (non Lexus mind) garage next week for a timing belt and tensioner change. I'll probably get them to do it, or is that not a good idea? All the guides out there say remove the top tray first but mine has nav!
  18. Hi, I did a quick search but I don't exactly know which term/s to search for! I'm after a guide for an IS300 to get to the fan control knob bulbs, as one has blown and I need to replace it. So I guess I'm looking for a stereo removal guide and all the other units above that? How hard is it to do?
  19. Literally sold my rev3 turbo a month ago for my new IS300. A good friend of mine has a very nice one for sale! If you want any information PM me or post here, I'm still in the "fold" when it comes to MR2s :).
  20. Thanks much for your replys, put my mind at rest somewhat! The smoke doesn't completely disappear when it's reached heat, but it's not exactly bad. Last service was a full one by lexus 4000 miles ago, I got the feeling from the previous owner that he didn't exactly drive it enthusiastically........ Even more reason to look forward to getting it insured!
  21. Hi all, Well, not even driven my IS300 due to not being able to insure it, but already something is worrying me about it. Basically, I think there is excessive white smoke coming out the back. I'd understand if it was a cold morning it was doing this however on a nice day, middayish it still does it. Now, it's weirder still because it doesn't start immediately after you turn the engine over, more like 30 secs - a minute the smoke starts coming out. Obviously more comes out if you gently rev it. It's not exactly plumes of smoke, but on a warm day surely there shouldn't be ANY? It does stop when the engine has fully reached heat however. Radiator is full of coolant, and no mayonaise around the oil cap. Any ideas? I'm finding it hard to look forward to getting it insured at the moment because of this!
  22. No, he's bought a 300!! It's true, although even the IS300 is much slower than the tubby, no offence but an IS200 woulld have been to bigger hit for me to take :D. I love it to bits so far... And I haven't even driven it! (Dad drove it back cause I spunked all my pennys on it, can't afford insurance yet) Got a few chips here and there, but I'll get chips away out soon me thinks! Alloys are a bit kerbed too but apart from that it's mint. Thinking I'll eventually change the alloys, some nice black ones with polished rims perhaps!
  23. Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself as I might need your help down the line! I'm Alistair, 23 years old from Newbury, Berks. And here is my new car, an IS300. My last car was a MR2 Turbo!
