  1. I replaced the discs and pads 3 months ago, mintex discs and lexus pads.... if the wheels are buckled, would rotating them back to front be a good test?
  2. ok, so took it out for a drive over the weekend, up to 100mph and the car was stable, eased of a bit and it started vibrating until back down to 65, backup to 90 and was vibrating again, very strange.
  3. thanks for the responses guys, there's also the dreaded knocking sound when going over bumps which i have had checked by at least 3 mechanics and they cant seem to find any issues which is very annoying. I will change the shocks over the weekend and ask the mechanic to check front suspension also including ball joing, drop links, etc, etc the fact that the rear wheels are not balanced wouldnt cause it would it? normally the steering vibrates quite badly hence balancing front wheels but in this particular case, the steering wheel vibrates, but so does the rest of the car which I'v not experienced before. ...and the car used to be so smooth on the motorway
  4. Hi guys as the topic suggests, my IS starts vibrating quite badly as soon as I go over 65MPH. I have had the wheels balanced twice by 2 different garages yet issue persists, the rear drivers side shock absorber is dead, oil leaking I think, can this be the cause? will be replacing the shocks this weekend btw geo done by wim a year or so ago so dont think the cause is with alignment
  5. Hi, I need to replace the rear drivers side shock absorber, any advise on where to purchase one from and how much can I expect to pay? Thanks in advance
  6. Hi, I changed my spark plugs over the weekend and noticed what looked to be oil residue on 2 of the spark plugs\coil packs, is this something to be worried about? Regards W
  7. My Is has just started doing the same thing, get to work at 8:00am, finish at 4:00pm, struggles to start for about 5-10 secs then starts. Has happened twice so far in the past 3 weeks, will be changing my sparks to Denso Iridium IK20 soon to see if this resolves the issue
  8. I would be inclined to check the coil packs, like the fella above me mentioned, they aint cheap, I had a similar problem last year, EML came on, TC on \ of randomly, had a car diagnostic kit at home, hooked it up, and the issue turned out to be coil packs, tested by swapping coil pack 1,3 (suspected problem) with 2,5 cleared error codes, tested again and it showed 2,5 as errors, £160 for the coil packs, swapped them out, and has been fine ever since. May well be something else but it sounds almost identical to the issue I had, with the excessive fuel consumption etc..
  9. thanks for the reply's, have you got a link to the ebay item by any chance? also is this something I can do myself? changed discs n pads in the past so dont mind having a go
  10. Hi front left makes a clunk sound almost everytime I brake and the right hand side suspension makes light clunk sound whenever I go over any small pot hole or speed bumps, any ideas? Iv changed the lower ball joins on both sides which doesnt seem to have made any difference
  11. having just read the entire post ignore my last, my car will jerk at exactly 2200 RPM on gas, but on petrol its sweet, you also notice a loss of power, driving on petrol is an absolute pleasure, gas on the other hand, the less said the better..... you may want to sign up to countrywide http://www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/pws/Co...rd=businesshome my is200 is on LPG, countrywide at the moment is 42.5 pence per litre the fuel needing going down is normal, the other issue, take it back to the guy
  12. Its Birmingham Autogas near Starcity they are highly recommended and Approved, unfortunately I paid by cash......probably my mistake! I've even changed where I put my gas from, I now use Shell. Just woundering if anyone who has had a Lexus IS200 converted has had any problems and if they have how did they rectify it. Thanks in advance you may want to sign up to countrywide http://www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/pws/Co...rd=businesshome my is200 is on LPG, countrywide at the moment is 42.5 pence per litre the fuel needing going down is normal, the other issue, take it back to the guy

  16. Yea wants another £40 (down from £60), will cost me in fuel and if im in the same position in a years time, another £140 down the drain for the front tyres...
  17. Hi Does anyone know of any alternative garages that can fix the issues with my front tyres, I went to Tony (WIM) a year ago, replaced the tyres with new Falkens all around and now the inside thread on the front tyres is completly bold. I'v done no more than 10k miles, not kerbed the car or driven over deep potholes etc... Cost me £100 (Tony WIM) £30 fuel to the garage and back £140 for the front 2 tyres A fortune spent already and if anything the visit to Tony has made the tyre wear worse, so anyone recommend anyone else? p.s. I know tony is highly rated on this forum but my personal experience with his garage has been anything but... Will post pics if you guys wanna see how bad the tyres are.....
  18. Hi Iv searched the forums but cant find the answer so apologies for posting again.... The break light on the dash is always on, problem seems to be the centre rear break (mounted on the shelf) any ideas if this is a simple replacement of the bulb? or do I need to change the whole unit? Also any instructions\guides on how to actually replace bulb\brake unit Thanks in advance
  19. get your cam belt and tensioner changed , but waterpump is really not that neccessay , i know a few pople coming up to £140000 miles and their water pump is still running perfect and i know someonelse on 180,000 miles and never had a water pump change , lexus recommend it at 100,000 miles but its really up to you they dont really go that easily............ if its your major service, it makes sense to change the water pump and bypass\o rings When I had my service done the water pump had just started to leak........that was on 62k....
  20. the fella who started this post is not really with it !!! he got his answer pretty much straight away, on my service, followed the advice of the forum, changed water pump, bypass valve and O rings also, as well as all the belts and the oils, tensioner, pulley, belt, car running much better
