  1. I had the same light, turned out to be an oil pressure sensor. Took a day and a half to replace after diagnosis, and was told they had never seen the light come on before (surprise).. Thankfully, this was under warranty
  2. There's a setting that can be changed via the general settings menu. If you go into the menu where colour etc is changed, it's there somewhere
  3. I had exactly the same problem a couple of months ago - the light came on on the elevated section on the M4 (which has no hard shoulder) so I phoned my local Lexus dealer, who asked me if it was driving as normal and as it was to bring it in in the morning). Same pressure sensor fix.
  4. I've got one of these. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_251029_langId_-1_categoryId_165477 It works really well (GS450h). There is usually an offer on to reduce the price too. Paul
  5. I do find the same thing sometimes, but it hasn't happened for a while. It seems to me to occur after leaving town at low speeds (sub 40) then accelerating gently from the roundabout to the speed limit change followed by hard acceleration. I'll will keep observing. Paul
  6. 450h has been brilliant. I couldn't get our celica moving on our road (an ungritted but icy crescent), but the 450h has been brilliant. Snow button depressed, not a spinning wheel in sight. TCS has been kicking in up the hill (yes the crescent goes up a hill at both entrances). I followed a neighbour and his Laguna slipped in the same places as I did. Paul
  7. thanks for the info re faulty mirror assembly. It started happening again last Friday, so I made a detour via Lexus Reading. Long story short, they replaced it under warranty on Tuesday while I drank tee and sat inside the Bentley in the showroom. Paul
  8. Well, I think we have found the car I will buy, before I do if I May I will tell you the deal and wait for comments. The car is an Oct 06 (56 plate)GS450H SE with sunroof in Messe red mileage is 44000 with a full Lexus service history. The car looks clean with a few chips around the front but nothing bad. Price £18990 and the part exchange on my present car is acceptable. What do you guys think of the deal and the purchase price, good, bad, average? Should I snatch the dealers hand off or walk away. Never bought a Lexus before so asking for advise from more people with more experience than I have. I f I have a concern it is the mileage a little above the average. Thanks again Hard to say about the price - I bought mine in April, 23 Months old with 47k - and paid 500 more. Mine is an SE without sunroof. For me it is a little expensive - the main warranty runs out this month - Is it a lexus direct car and do you get the 12 month lexus warranty? Paul
  9. I would agree with tony's sentiments. Just one thing to add. It will run on the electric motor at 30 on a flat road, and upto 40 down a slight incline. Paul
  10. I have a 450h of the same vintage. I moved from an Avensis with a cavernous boot. It all depends on what you regularly do. We find that the boot is the similair to a small hatchaback. like a fiesta or maybe even a focus. Sometimes some additional though is required when planning a trip, but we have never found it to be an issue. For all the other rewards of the car the boot can be at most, a minor inconvenience. If you are buying from a lexus centre, why not see if you can book a 24hr test drive in a new 450h and see how it goes? Paul
  11. wasn't central when it happened to me, also wasn't that it didn't work, but as the OP pointed out, differed in the amount the mirrors travelled and was inconsistent. P.
  12. I have recently had the same problem. Though it seems to gave gone away after I was forced to completely reprogramme the seat memory. Would be interested to know why it happened and what the solution is. Mine os on an 07 plate Paul
  13. the disc is in the top right of the glove box, above the manual holder. It works on my 07 450h, so I don't see it why it wouldn't work - by 2005 do you mean mk3? lexus-mapupdates.eu will tell you what the latest available is - it is a lexus website. You input the part number from the existing dvd and it tells you what the upto date version is.
  14. in 2005 onwards, eject the DVD through the menu instructions - do a search on here for detailed info. I think you navigate to the information screen and hit the top left of the screen. To get the upto date dvds go to lexus-mapupdate.eu (cheaper)or your lexus dealer. Paul
  15. They are very good - it is actuallly Fish Brothers who are the lexus main dealer in Swindon - When I had my Toyota, prior to my GS, I used them several times. They are quick, reliable and helpful. However, you will find that if you are a gold member, your local Lexus dealer may offer a substantial discount - mine in Reading/Bracknell offer it and that would save about £15 on £75 Paul
  16. Did you try FAT16? (ie FAT). I can't remember if you can do it under Vista, but HP have a tool to format - HP USB Storage Disk format tool. This has wokred for em in the past. Paul
  17. How did you format the memory stick - ie under what OS and with what options? Paul
  18. From experience, you have to make sure that the CD has been finalised (ie is no longer writeable). If you are using windows, the option to choose is to play in other CD players, not the one that allows it to be written to or read on other computers. Paul
  19. I spent the day on and off fast roads, so was careful to see how mine behaved. It did not behave as yours does. I put it under reasonable motorway load for 10 mins, then managed to get into battery mode on the slip road and keep using it where appropriate. Later, I put the car under heavy load along the motorway and managed to get straight back into battery mode - so I guess for me it comes down to learning some finesse over the time I have owned the car. Paul
  20. I think I had the issue, but not after smooth, efficient motorway driving (it can be a struggle on the m4 where I live). I will monitor it this week, as I do a similair journey to my office, although on the day of your original post, I had just done that and battery worked as expected (ie left the motorway and then used batter only mode immediately) Paul
  21. I think I have experienced this- although what do you mean by on the motorway for a while? I always thought that it was being a little lead footed. What mode have you got the car in - Hybrid normal and normal suspension setting (ie not sport)? Paul
