  1. hi guys, sidelights aren't working, checked bulbs, all seems fine, which fuse is the one for me sidelights? many thanks
  2. hi people i need new front disks and pads for my 51plate IS200 sport, getting real heay vibration under breaking, asked the bloke doing my MOT about it and he said he'd have to measure the disks because there are a few different ones for the IS200 can anyone recommend a place to buy replacements and if possible which disks and pads i need, as i said its a 51 plate IS200 sport many thanks :)
  3. i know nobody can say 100% without seeing it, i was just polling for any other reasons i could be getting the vibration, i never thought it could be the ABS, i do have a lip forming on the disks so i might change em anyway, thanks for the info mate
  4. hi guys, recently (2 weeks or so) a bad vibration has developed under any breaking >30mph. vibration can be felt through the pedle and even by passengers through the firewall and floor. pretty sure you're all gonna say warpped disks but is there any thing else this could be caused by? and when buying replacement disks would i get more bang for my buck buying after market disks rather than lexus ones? many thanks :)
  5. cheers mate, and yeah i agree its not really a big issue, i don't race anywhere (my licence means too much too me!) i just wanna have the power too accelerate swiftly should the need arise, i love the look of the IS which is why i'd rather try and squeeze more out of it rather than just trading in for something quicker straight out of the packet. i've read a few storys about supercharging / turbo charging the IS but most seem to end in numerous trips back too the garage, if i went down the supercharger or turbo route will it really make her as temperamental as i've heard, or do success sotrys far outweigh the bad ones i've read?
  6. Hi peoples, can you guys give me some suggestions of things to do to improve my acceleration including rough costs and gains ? anything from induction kits too turbo kits. i don't want to make my car so stupid fast that i'd end up back in the garage every month or so, i'd still like it to be reliable but i'm tired or being shown up on the lights by muppets driving 'nothing special cars' final straw was today i was at lights and some 50 something bloke flew away in a 57plate prius and made me look silly, does it sound like i may need a tune and have lost power or is the IS200 nothing special really when it comes to acceleration, having not driven another i've no frame of reference to see if mine has lost some power or not, its a 51plate sport and i get nothing special acceleartion wise until i hit ~3500 revs much appreciated :)
  7. someone has too say it - have you checked the volume isn't right down ?! :shutit:
  8. yeah, i did think of the problem about taking the sub out, i'll do as you said and put it on a mdf board at some point this week, for now i've fixed it with some short dumpy screws too the sub, not pretty but at least i've got some bass at last
  9. nope, wont clear the torsion bars either :/ anything wrong with mounting an amp on the actuall sub enclosure itself ?
  10. hi guys, just wanted some opinions on this before i do it, i'm going to install my amp and sub today, i was thinking of putting the amp under the parcel shelf in between the cutouts for the rear 6x9's, i know its not a flat surface so i was thinking of drilling the bolt holes and using some longish bolts with spacer tubes to fix the amp ~40mm off of the surface (esentually bolting it too the parcel shelf with some 40mm stilts too clear the unsmooth surface, the amp would be held firm, no way of bouncing about, i'll use - hole in parcel shelf - 8mm bolt / washer - 40mm spacer - washer - amp - washer - lock nut and clamp down tight.) anyone see a problem with this idea? i'd really like to put it upside down under the parcel shelf out of sight rather than bolt too back of seats, think it'll look neater
  11. sweet, cheers mate, thought it prolly was
  12. finished fitting amp n sub to find the amp wasn't powering up for whatever reason, remote was plugged into 'R Cont' on the back of the head unit when nothing was happening, tried using the loose blue wire from the amp bypass kit (labelled 'ant cont') and this works fine, trns amp on when key and head unit face is in, shuts off when face or key is removed, so asside from the wire being labelled something different, is there any harm in using this as a permanent solution to my amp remote problem ?
  13. woohoo, sorted it! i tried using both pairs as stav suggested and got sound, but it gave me a horrible grasshopper like buzzing through the tweeters, so thought maybe the speakers were duff, i faded the fronts back in, noticed the fronts had the buzzing too, i disconected the rears and the buzzing stopped, so connecting all 4 were giving me the buzz, in the end i cut my losses and ran new speaker wires through the car direct too the head unit leaving the lexus wires out all together, strange stuff eh!
  14. ok, double checked it all, no sound from red / black or blue / grey, checked the workshop manual for wireing colors before the 4 pin connector, manual says rear speaker RH is red + and white -, rear speaker LH is yellow - and black +, i tapped into these wires directly, still no sound, yet original speaker plays with no trouble when plugged back in
  15. no sound, from top set or bottom set, polarity is correct in both cases, any ideas?
  16. no, i've changed the HU and used the amp bypass lead, now i'm changing out the rear 6x9's, one was dead. so you say use the top speakers wiring for the new set ?
  17. hi guys. just want to check, i'm fitting new 6x9's in, on removing the old ones i see that the block that plugs into the old speakers (under parcel shelf) has 4 wires due too the 2 speakers on each side, for my new speakers i only need the one pair each side (+ / -) i'm assuming i use the pair that went to the bigger (bottom) driver and no the smaller top speaker yes? red & black / black&brown in this case
  18. yeah, mine went in fine, no troubles, seems i didn't need that red wire i guess, just used the iso blocks and it functions fine, memory holds, works when ign is on, shuts off when key is removed, all the bells 'n' whistles
  19. hi guys just after some info before i install my new HU, got the amp bypass lead here, it has iso blocks one end, and the block to byass the amp on the other end, however in the middle there is a loose red wire with a clamp down crimp block with no mention of this in the help sheet, i'm assuming this is the 12v ignition or 12v permanent wire yeah? thanks for your help :)
  20. thanks lads, will have a pop at it, update will follow soon :)
  21. sorry guys, its a New car so i'm still learning all the bits and bobs on it, its a 51 plate, what would be the best way too actually test the alarm is functioning properly ? do what i did before but wait 30 secs or so before doing a dance in the chair ?
  22. Hi Guys Has anyone personally fitted an aftermarket alarm in their IS200 ? my alarm doesn't work, does nothing, i lock the car whilst sitting in it, can move about, and even start the car, no alarm or no immobaliser function at all. so i'm thinking about putting in an aftermarket one rather than spending hundreds on an auto electrician to sort out the factory one :/ any info you guys can give me would be most appreciated
  23. ahh, that would be why i didn't see a siren. thanks mate, handy too know. but i'm still thinking of putting an aftermarket one in, the one i had in my astra done total closure, wound up windows, turned off lights etcetc, so if anyone could still provide me with some pointers too wire locations and colours, it would be most appreciated. thanks chaps :D
  24. really?! thats pretty damn sexy, i didn't even think it had one since i could see no siren under bonnet or LED in the dash.
  25. Hi Guys i have a 51plate is200 sport, and have a quick question. when the cluth is fully pressed, then brought up, you can hear / feel a slight 'click' near the bottom of the travel, other than that clutch operates fine. i've stuck me head under the dash but cant see the pedal actually fouling on anything, anyone else experianced this or have any ideas what it could be? thanks Neil
