  1. I want to sell an existing number plate that is registered to a car already... The plate is *** MGF (obviously I cant reveal all of it), however the selling point is the last the letters. If I place an advert wherever... how do I go about selling the number plate ownership etc... and get a new one issued for this car? Please advise... and thanks in advance
  2. What is the difference between the Altezza RS200 L version and Z version please... I have looked at www.japvehicles.com and the only difference I see is the kerb weight of 10kg. Any offers... :)
  3. Aha... I'm not sure if this is compatible with ME... however go to this link below and see if this helps... if not send me a message (containing where to send the cd to, work address if you want so its secure and not personal) and I will organise so that you can receive the software via cd... http://www.matweb-tw1.com.tw/USB/Phmgr/USBGD87.zip However, this is for the USB... which is what I have... not sure about serial...
  4. Yes, if you have a data cable, software should have come with it... I have a cd that enables you to transfer files and data i.e. ring tones, pictures and phone book etc...
  5. Thanks James... maybe I didn't explain it well... How can I obtain a crime reference number from the Parisian police authorities while I am in London... is there any way I can get in touch or does anyone know any sites that I can get the address of a police station... are there any websites... can I visit the French Embassy (does one exist...pardon the ignorance)... Does one see what I mean...
  6. Can anyone suggest the best method for me to obtain a crime reference number from Paris, France. I was pickpocketed in McDonalds Restaurant outside Gard du Nord... The thieving *!*!**! got away with both of my mobile phones *Panasonic GD87 and my SonyEricsson P800). They also got my wallet with many credit cards. To cut a long story short, my P800 was insured... however in order for the claim to be processed, the insurance company need a crime reference number... from France because that is where the incident happended?!? I didn't have time to report the incident because I would have missed my train... let alone find a police station and a helpful citizen to give me directions to the police station. Any ideas???
  7. Quick question, pardon my ignorance though... If I get an Altezza, how different are the parts required for servicing... i.e. plugs, filters etc... what else is changed in a service apart from oil etc... and they not the same as the IS200? My garage is not a branded one where I give my WRX to and they do a fine job... What disadvantages would I face with an import as opposed to UK IS200? Thanks in advance
  8. Have you made a purchase yet, what was the final verdict... you may have read my forum threads to help make up your mind... B)
  9. Sorry I have been away for a while... Oh my gosh... It's almost been a whole year... Nothing much has changed, but I am getting closer to the Lexus dream... Saving up or financially committed and challenged... I am still driving my WRX, but I will have to give it up soon for an IS200 or RS200 Tezza... I hope everyone has been well and is amongst good spirits (not that kind)...
  10. I had a few questions related to fuel consumption and capacityfor the IS200 and RS200. 1) What is the fuel consumtion for both models? 2) What is the fuel capacity (full tank) for the IS200 and RS200 3) What is the expected mileage one can travel on a full tank? 4) Do they both require Optimax or just unleaded? Thanks in advance :P
  11. Just thought I would mentioned that the pics look great... and that I missed out big time... I am quite saddened by the fact that I couldn't make it because if anyone read the previous post prior to the new Bracknell Meet topic I was quite looking forward to this meet... Quote: "It would have been my first ever meet of any kind... I would have been travelling from where the wombles live; I was so excited, I planned my route a week in advance... This morning as I was giving my WRX a quick rinse with the hose... I got a phone call that one of my work pals has passed away in the early hours of the morning... My mood was spoilt... Sorry Claire for not being there but I hope it all turns out well... Kavey, Zee... if you also went I am sorry for not being present... Just bad timing... I endeavour to be there on the next meet that I can get to..."
  12. I am soooooo gutted..... I was so looking forward to coming to the Bracknell Jap Car Meet... It would have been my first ever meet of any kind... I endeavour to be there on the next meet that I can get to...
  13. Okay... so forget the less important previous question... More importantly if the Altezza comes with Sat Nav... does it use a dvd or cd based source and does the software need modifying... i.e. will the menu etc still be in Japanese. If this is the case; how does one overcome this issue Please advise Thanks :winky:
  14. So... if I find a decent mileage and good condition IS200 manual / RS200 MT6 in a private sale; what kind of things should I be looking for apart from the normal things that one looks at when buying... to be on the safe side... To be honest I have only ever had 3 cars in my driving life... A 1.3 VW Golf, then the 300BHP MR2 Mk2 and now the WRX... the last two were sourced for me and checked over from a garage before they came to me... Any hints or tips... Is it a good idea to know what these cars drive like and drive a selection of them privatley to notice the differences or is that not a good idea... What does the forum think...
  15. The Sat Nav sounds great... and not a penny to pay... I understand that with a regular service history, a slightly higher mileage is safe... So, what are the the most common known faults to occur with the IS200 / Rs200 range... inc. wear and tear Thanks...
  16. Hmmm... so that gets me thinking... thanks for that info... which leads me on to the next question... What is a respected mileage on a 1999 model IS200... I have seen anything between 30,000 to 70,000... I would have thought around 40,000 would be acceptable... what are your thoughts everyone... Is high mileage to be steered away from... or are they tough engines that can take a bit...
  17. Nice one bloofire; interestingly enough I have Autotrader / Top Marques under a very close watch... However, it does seem evident that more people go for the IS200 UK as opposed to the Altezza... How come??? Owners who have an IS200; would they like to own an RS200 if they were more popular to get hold of... Are the Altezza's a highly sought after cars... or not really so... Please advise... :)
  18. I'm in a situation... and I need advise how to best solve it... :) I want to buy an Altezza (mind made from this discussion) however only after test driving both the IS200 and the RS200 MT (Altezzza) I have a WRX at the moment... I can only buy the IS200/RS200 from the money I raise from the WRX when sold (and put a bit more in). There aren't many RS200's about to test drive let alone buy... (correct me if I wrong and pls tell me where I can find them) Do I trade my car in when I find an RS200 Do I sell and hope to find one soon Do I find one and put a deposit on it hoping I will sell my WRX soon What do I do... I know this sounds silly because I haven't got one yet, but will I have problems selling them after many years of fun... because they're not so popular here...
  19. That's a bit of an in-sight, thanks mark... However, once strapped down to the rolling road... then what... does one race it through the gears redlining each one... or...
  20. :duh: Pardon my ignorance... I know very little about a 'rolling roads'... As far as I know a 'rolling road' discovers the top speed and BHP of a vehicle... But how; like what do you do... Do you drive at full throttle through all your gears on the rollers or what... Thanks in advance
  21. Danny Boy, :D Let me contribute my 2 pence worth as a new comer to the 'Lexus Owners Club' seeming as I don't own a Lexus but very interested in getting one... I painted my brake callipers last summer with a complete kit available from... wait for it... Halfords... However it was not the Halfords own brand... in this kit you get everything you need... :) The brand is Folia tec... a German company I think... the choice is yours... I can only recommend what I have tried and tested. All you need to provide is a brush 1/2 inch will do for good results and getting into the small areas and depending if there are any rough spots... a small wire brush. It should take about 1.5 hrs to do things thouroughly... all 4 that is... I painted mine red on a silver WRX... the result was WOW... I was impressed... :o This is how I done it... 1) Jacked up the car each in turn 2) Removed the wheel carefully 3) Cleaned very well the areas I wainted to paint i.e. calipers 4) Blew away any excess dust etc 5) Sprayed special spray provided 6) Painted very carefully areas required 7) Carefully placed wheels back not getting the paint on to the wheels 8) And done the other lot Bare in mind that you can't move your car for a recommended I think 24 hrs and do it needless to say in daylight hours in nice dry weather... This stuff turns rock hard after... and it looks great... I would provide pics but I haven't got a digi cam. I hope this helps... :)
  22. I think I will be spotted from a mile away, I will be the one driving a scooby looking lost and embarrased... "Like the odd one out kinda thing" Billy no friends springs to mind... doh... However, I endeavour to be there... I havn't done anything to my scooby so I don't want to get any hopes up if they're expecting a flying machine... :P
  23. Hi... I was wondering whether I can pop down because I am seriously thinking of buying a IS200 / RS200 and would love to be amongst many Lexus cars... and have a nose around... However, I may be the odd one out because I own a WRX (Jap import)... If it is, I endeavor to visit... do we have to register prior to anything??? or just turn up... Sorry I've not even been to a Scooby get together let alone a Lexus...
  24. Wow... It's a small world Asam, who knows we may even recognise eachoher... :P Going tangent slightly, I was born in St. Georges (old building in 1973) and since have lived with the wombles... however know Tooting like the back of my hand. I'm assoicated with the T-Mobile shops... (I work for T-Mobile)... :) It would be great to meet up after you come back from the US; thanks again... In the mean time I can start my hunt for that perfect Altezza (I wish...)... :D So... if my mechanic will service, will it be okay for him to source parts from Gemca; I may even find a car with them... who knows... do they sell cars (sorry)... :duh:
  25. That's good news buddy, you've really been helpful which I really am grateful for. Is it best to get one from a dealer then do you think... I wouldn't really know what to look for in a private sale when it comes to an RS200... Also, what are the differences between the RS200, L and Z models... And you know it's not raining Altezza's so where's the best place to get one from Sorry for so many questions... I'm just anxcious I guess... Thanks in advance PS. I live with the Wombles... :P
