does anyone know if the latest updates to the sat nav system for my 2003 lexus gs300 recognises uk post codes - it has never been updated. how easy is it to update cd or is this a specialist job?

please advise me how to start a new topic in this forum?

still panicking - february/march 2012 - MOT advisory on the exhaust - "severely corroded" - as it passed the MOT i thought i would leave it and save up. november 2012 - warning light on dash - faulty sensor - i have not rectified the problem. if it fails the mot in march 2013 because of the exhaust i need to have and idea as to the cost(to the nearest £1,000) of replacing the ENTIRE exhaust system(WORST CASE SCENARIO). the quotes i have had so far range from £1,400 to £3,400(to be fair none of the quotees has actually examined the car). QUESTIONS:- 1. has anyone had to replace their ENTIRE exhaust system and if so what was the cost?. 2> has anyone replaced COMPONENTS of the exhaust system and if so what was the cost? 3. what is the system made up of:-(downpipes?, catalytic converters?, tail pipes? etc. etc.) many thanks in advance and apologies for being so persistently boring - i am a real geek when it comes to cars.

i was offerred £1,200 as part exchange by a kexus dealer. i will probably now get the sensor fitted to clear the warning light, and wait until the mot(due 27march2013). if it fails the mot on the exhaust, i will have a big decision to make then - if it passes, i will continue to run it until the exhaust is completely unrepairable and then decide. some good has come out of this exercise thus:- 1. the different quotes for the same parts that one gets from lexus dealers for the same job. 2. what can be cleareer than "i would like a wuote for the entire exhaust system - i had qoutes of £1,200(toyota dealer). £2,500/£2,800/£3,400 from the same dealer when i went back for clarification(he kept missing parts off the quote(catalytic converter/twin exhausts etc. etc. the most understanding of all the edealers i spoke to was the one at sheffield - they listened, explained and advised - they were really comforting - i would recommend that anyone who has to get a major repair done on theie lexus give sheffield a call. sorry for the "novel" but i though i might give someone who like me is a car dummy and worrier some comfort.

Advice, Consoling required!!!! - 03 reg lexus gs300 - second owner - purchased in 2009 @ 50,000+ - current mileage 92,000+ - cambelt replaced in march 2011 - in addition i spent over £1,500 on "igniter" & door lock in 2012 - Suddenly on last thursday 20/11/2012 - warning light came on - OEM ran diagnostic and states that exhaust sensor needs replacing - exhaust severly corroded. the quotes from the OEM for replacing the entire exhaust based on the parts being supplied by a lexus dealer were:- 1. 21 november - £1,200(toyota dealer). 2. 23 november - £2,060 (lexus dealer). 3. 23 november - £2,500(lexus dealer as in (2)). 4. 26 november - £3,334(lexus dealer as in (2)). The OEM had to keep going back to lexus to ensure that they were quoting for the correct parts as their quotes were very sketchy - it was only when he asked for a fax with the details and discovered that they had ommitted parts that he was able to give the latest figure(£3,334). the mot due 27 march 2012 - but i will be out of the country 27february2013 to 24march2013 - i have decided to live with the warning light until then and if it passes the mot i will run it into the ground. if it fails the mot i will give it a decent funeral(scrap it to an enthusiast) - i will feel better as i have really taken good care of this car). 1. any advice? - 2. anyone know a man who can? - please give him my mobile number - 07976750557. 3. what is the car worth based on the information that i have given above? 4. if the forum allows it, anyone can be called on 07976750557 - you will only be charged for the initial call as i will call you back (i have loads of minutes to spare & and unlimited landlines) - if not i will join the forum. 　

just filled up with petrol - warning light "h" indicating "malfunction indicator lamp" referred to on page----67 of the manual has come on. advised by garage that safe to drive - i plan to take it in first thing in the morning. anyone had a similar experience???? what is the worst case scenario????. i shall have a really sleppless night - so i hope someone can cheer me up - give me an idea of the cost to the nearest million pounds!!!!

gs300 - 2003 - auto at my mot in february i had an advisory for my "entire exhaust system" corroding - i was told not to worry for about 6-9 months - any comment? if i have to replace the entire system(no idea what parts make up the whole system - pease advise), how much should i expect to pay - i have budgeted for £1,800(eighteen hundred pounds) - would i be able to get a stainless steel lifetime guarantee for this price?

car was starting after 3/4 attempts - then unable to start - new lexus battery installed - car will not start - someone suggests faulty "ignite" switch - any suggestions?

lexus gs 300 - 2003 - mileage 59050 - purhased at 51215 - 2nd owner - service due at 60,000/05may - passed it's mot today but the following advisory items were flagged:- tyres worn close to legal limit (4.1.d.1). brake discs slightly worn (3.5.1h). exhaust has part of the system slightly deteriorated (7.1.1a). exhaust heat shield insecure. do i wait until the next service, what alerts me to take immediate action. i shall get a quote from lexus and others and compare - any suggestions?.
