  1. You have done a fantastic and professional job. However, not for me :duh: - I tend to like sticking to the 'norm'......but i'm boring like that :winky:
  2. My 250 SEL was in the garage for over 3 weeks during the horrific weather. Started first time - not a problem.
  3. Surely as the key is still in the vicinity of the car, touching the inside of the driver's door handle would unlock it again wouldn't it?
  4. Be careful what you say.......they take it to heart. In 1988, I bought a brand new Cavalier SRi-130 (yes, it was a few years back). The Missus took out the whole of the spoiler on one side on a very high kerb. My language was pretty bad.......she didn't talk to me for a week, and it was her that broke the car She's never driven my SEL
  5. £88.12 including the VAT. Can't really complain, as it was quite a bit of work - taking the seat out etc. I think a retrim would have been £110+ VAT (ish), but once he got the seat cover off, he was able to use the existing leather. Probably better than having a re-patch, as I was worried that it wouldn't be 100% identical leather etc.
  6. This story has a happy ending, but just wanted to issue a few words of caution (probably common sense to most!!). In the hot weather, was wearing a pair of shorts, which had zips on the back pocket. Got in my beloved SEL, and managed to rip the leather. You cannot imagine how upset I was about this, and to make matters worse it was late on a Saturday and there was nobody I could contact for advice. Anyway, found a fantastic company in Sandbach called CCTRIM. They thought it might need re-patching, but took the car in this morning, and have just got it back. Because the damage was close to the edge, the leather was soft enough to re-position, so all is well again. You would never know there had been a problem. So take care......make sure there is nothing sharp in your back pockets. It's not a nice feeling when you do something a stupid as I did.
  7. I thought the MPG of my IS200 was dreadful. In comparison, i'm really pleased with the IS250.......I tend to get 33mpg on rural roads, and I like to put my foot down every now and again. I was lucky to get 25mpg out of the 2.0l IS200. 33mpg might not be great in comparison to 'economical' cars, but if I had wanted 50mpg, I would have bought something smaller!
  8. Saw one in the showroom today in Lexus Wolverhampton. Didn't look too closely at the spec, but it was up for £33k, so guess it must have been kitted out with MM. Looked very nice.
  9. Isn't DAB broadcast all over the UK? Or do you mean that your car came without DAB? My 2010 IS 250 that I got last week came with DAB, even though I can't use it, since DAB is not used where I live. My worry is that I don't have DAB, as my car was registered in Jan 2009 (2009 spec IS250), so have just missed out on DAB.
  10. I went from an IS200 Sport that I bought new in April 2005, to and IS250 SEL in June last year. When I handed over the keys to my beloved IS200, I felt quite sad. However, I have no regrets what so ever - I really love the IS250. It's smooth as silk, more powerful, and loads of toys and gadgets to play with. Interesting what you said about the IS200 being 'rugged' - I know exactly what you mean. IS250 seems to be a much larger car, but it is definitely less roomy in the back. However, I didn't buy it for that reason, so I have no regrets in changing. When I was looking around at cars, I considered Audi, BMW, Mercedes and even VW, but the way the Lexus Dealerships have looked after me since April 2005 counted for alot and I was never really serious about getting a different make. Only worry I have now is about DAB radio, but guess that's still a few years off!!
  11. Don't really see how this is an issue. If you get out of the car, the warning beep goes off, but engine still runs. Why would you want to leave a car running if you are any further away (eg: indoors)? Personally, I think people who do this are highly irresponsible - same as people who leave their keys in the ignition when paying for petrol. Additionally, as Steve has pointed out, this also invalidates your insurance. Because of this, the Lexus keyless entry/start-up system is excellent.
  12. Absolutely loving the car - it really is fantastic, and other than the creaky seat, i've not suffered any other rattles etc. First auto i've ever owned too, and no regrets.
  13. Not lucky enough to own one of these beauties, but am lucky enough to have a 10 month old IS250SEL. Was in Lexus Chester the other day, and they had 2 250C's in the showroom. Got to say, I think they are stunning, and if I had a spare £40k, I would be very tempted. Not sure Richard Hammond was quite so impressed recently though:- http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/cars-motorbikes/...al---foldi.html
  14. Bought my 5 month old 09 spec IS250SEL from Lexus Wolverhampton in June. Over the last couple of months, drivers seat has been suffering from an annoying creak. Took it into Lexus Chester today (my nearest and usual Dealer). They told me that there was a 'nut mod' available, and if that wasn't going to sort it, a last resort option would be to get me a new seat under warranty (£3,500 worth apparently!!). As it turns out, all they had to do was grease the runners. All is great now :D Car was a little dirty too........they handed it back all nice and gleaming, so saved my a job there too (hoovered inside too). Usual fantastic service from Lexus Chester (have visited a couple of Lexus dealers, and Chester really seem to give that little bit extra - excellent).
  15. Perhaps I could direct you to the Care & Detailing Forum:- http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...hp?showforum=31
  16. Is the car still under warranty? Long shot, but if it rattles etc, you may be lucky and they might replace it. Happened to a friend of mine with a IS220d.
  17. Bought a brand new IS200 Sport in April 2004 and traded in for a 5 month old IS250 SEL in June 2009. That was the longest I had ever kept a car. Plan is to keep the IS250 for 5 or 6 years or so. Didn't want to buy new again.......my IS250 had already depreciated £5-£6k in the first 5 months of it's life. Perhaps I should have gone for something slightly older, but I fell in love with the car!
  18. Just found this video......does look nice:- http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9rfnc_le...-cabriolet_auto
  19. Bought my first Lexus (IS200 Sport) when I was 40. 45 now, and 1 month into my second Lexus (IS250 SEL MM) and loving it.
  20. Got about £6,700 p/x for my April 2004 IS200 Sport (not quite what you're asking I know, but thought I would mention it). Had the car from new and it was immaculate with only 36,000 miles on the clock. Lexus put it up for £8,995 and sold it within the week! Alloys had a bit of corrosion and there was a repaired chip in the windscreen that they probably needed to sort out. Front tyres would have needed replacement in about 5000 miles too. With these things, and the fact that the next service was a major one, i'm not too disappointed at what I got for it. Also now enjoying my IS250 SE-L with loads of toys
  21. I had an IS200 Sport and loved it. I've had my IS250 SEL for just under a month and love it. My 250 had to go back to the dealer for a couple of days, as there were a couple of things not quite perfect (second hand buy, but only 4 months old). The loan car they gave me was an IS220 and I hated it. No power in low revs and complete lack of refinement. I'm amazed that Lexus have got something so wrong. Sorry for the negative comments - I know you own an IS220, and I mean no disrespect.
  22. They have collected my SE-L this morning to sort out a few bits and pieces. Have been left with an IS-220. No disrespect, but crikey, it's so basic. Not a nice car.
