  1. My iPhone 4 pairs and works just fine, unless I password protect it - when it awaits a password and drops if it doesn't get one. Mark
  2. Hi David It could be thet the previous owner just installed a new map CD. The latest map CDs allow you to enter nav destinations and change MP3 folders when driving. You can also dial numbers when driving (speed dial numbers only - not through the phonebook). If that soulds like your car, then I think it might just be a new map, rather than a half-completed DVD hack. Maybe check the year of your map DVD on the ML screen first to be sure? Mark
  3. Mine is also one of the last of the 07 plates and although I did have the 'usual' rattles, Lexus derby cured them all. Any car under warranty shouldn't rattle - there are fixes and (for me at least) they do work...
  4. I had some scratches on the centre (light grey) unit near the gearstick and the cupholders. I used some scratch remover from JML (the label says it works on plastics as well as painted surfaces) I tried a small area first, and the scratches lifted - but the gloss surface remained, so I did the whole thing. So long as you're careful not to do it TOO many times, the scratches do come out (and a couple were quite deep). Lexus said it would need sand/fill/respray, but this JML product did it in 20 minutes. Worked for me anyway.....
  5. I agree with Brucie - try to get an Auto. A Lexus really should have an auto box (IMO), and the 250 Autos have better fuel consumption as a bonus!
  6. :D Love that bit about 'French cars in general'! Now that makers are coming up with those 'stop start' things - where the engine cuts out when you're in a line of traffic and restarts when you start moving again - how long before we see long queues of cars with an old Peugeot or renault at the front having not re-started!
  7. I think you're right. Get a 250 and don't look back - they're everything a Lexus should be - creamy auto box and silky V6. The 220s I've has as courtesy cars were OK (though they lose revs massively just after you pull away at junctions), but I just don't think a 'real' Lexus can have a diesel engine (IMHO). My IS250 (I had six IS200s before that!!) has (touch wood) been wonderful. The usual rattly dash for a while, but cured at Lexus Derby. I'd take the plunge and get the IS250 - but make sure you get an auto with the Levinson Stereo (so either an SE-L Auto or a pre-2009 SE Auto with MM)
  8. Just a quick reply. I noticed mine was 1700 or so, took it to the dealer, who fitted a new control unit - only to see that one at about 1700 as well. Turns out to be absolutely normal. I find that, as with others, it drops rapidly after a few minutes - or if you put it in drive! Now if we could get them to warm up a bit quicker (mine often takes 4-5 miles)
  9. Hi Guys If you go to the UK Lexus website as of this morning there's clearly a message saying that UK Lexus models are NOT affected by the recall. To check yourself, go to www.lexus.co.uk and follow the links for customer safety questions (on the left hand side menu) Cheers Marklex :)
  10. Thing is, for years, Toyota has been regarded as a luxury brand (or at least a BMW Audi equivelant) in Japan anyhow... With platform sharing and group ownerships, you can say it about a lot of cars: Audi - "Nice Skoda" Jaguar - "Nice Tata" (formerly "nice Ford") - I think Tata are also the makers of the world's cheapest car? Range Rover - "Nice Tata" (also) Infiniti - "Nice Nissan" Accura - "Nice Honda" Doesn't work on Saab any more tho': "Nice GM" was funny, but "nice Konigsegg" - hmm, I'd be jealous of that!
  11. I had a 2009 09 plate loaner with only 2k miles and it already had the dashboard creaks from the centre speaker area, so it's still a design issue! Still, most centres know how to fix them...
  12. I had an SE-I as a courtesy car last week and I really missed the DRG. What I hadn't realised (D'oh!) was that if I missed a turn, then the SE-I won't just calculate a new route - It keeps on trying to get you back onto your original route. Maybe I'm odd, but I'm so used to setting up a route and if I know some shortcuts then just taking them. The pesky SEI wanted me to rejoin the original route I was glad to get my SE MM back - but it rules out an SE-I for me at tradein time (shame!
  13. You're absolutely right. I bought an IS250SE Auto MM from Derby in May - last of the 07 platers (end August 2007) with 11000 on the closk for just under £18k. I finally persuaded my mate (after he rode in it last week) to look for one similar, and he's tried everywhere over the last 7 days - they're all at least 2k more! Still - these things go in cycles. Maybe once the scrappage money dries up the prices will fall back again?
  14. I think most of the IS250 dash and trim rattles are temperature related in my experience. Most dealers know about them and how to fix them though, so I'd pop down to your dealer. In my case, Derby were excellent...
