  1. Decided to treat my IS200 for its 100,000 mile birthday to a new cambelt, water pump, full service including plugs, MOT, all other belts and pulleys/bearings/tensioners and a complete cooling system flush. She is now running brand new again. Cambelt was obviously the original as it was starting to wear on one side so was a worth while investment. Water pump was a bit poorly too due to a leak but all is good now. this is the old belt and pump Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  2. Ok thanks. Ive just realised though that i posted this in the wrong section, i was meant to post in in the IS200 modification and tuning section ...oops!! So unless the LOC mods move this post then for anyone just reading this i own a 1999 IS200 and thats the car im talking about :duh: .
  3. This is true, i didnt think that far into it about pressure switches etc. Oh well maybe ill leave that mod then ha ha. Thanks for the reply though lexynik
  4. Ok so for those who dont understand, a normal electric window switch you have to hold till the window gets to the top/bottom, an auto switch is where you just press the button once and the window will goto the top/bottom on its own without holding the switch all the time. The big giveaway is the word AUTO on the drivers window switch, that should point you in the right direction (pardon the pun). On the drivers door there are 4 switches, one for drivers window, one for front passenger window and one for each rear door window but only the drivers switch is auto or "one touch". I wanted to know if you could replace all the other window switches to auto switches too.....
  5. Just a random thought but does anybody know if its possible to replace the electric window switches for auto ones like the drivers window has? Is it just a matter of taking the switch out and replacing it with auto ones?
  6. Thats another possibility, may try that. For the sake of a couple of £'s on a bottle of fluid after ive flushed the pipes too its worth a shot.
  7. Sorry for the late reply. I took the arch liner off to gain access to the washer bottle so i could initially remove it but it was a right pain to do. So i left it in place and just pulled off the main rubber hose that goes upto your jets in the bonnet. I then got a piece of old hose pipe and placed that over the part where i pulled the rubber hose off. Then i filled the bottle with warm water and squirted it out through the old hose pipe. That way i didnt get crappy water all over my car, instead it ran down the drive ha ha. I did this 3 or 4 times and it seemed to do the trick........for a couple of days!!! So now back to square one! I think ill try flushing the pipes too, maybe if i disconnected them from the washer jets and the bottle i could blast the hose pipe down them to try and clear them out of any possible muck.
  8. well i flushed the washer bottle through 3 times now and my car still stinks inside when i squirt the washer jets. Do any of you have any idea what else i can do to cure this smell?
  9. no not seen it as i have been at work all day. big outbreak is there?
  10. Evening all. The past week or so i have noticed that when i squirt my windscreen jets there's a bad smell like stale socks/body odour. And before you ask No its not me ha ha. It can only be i presume stale water/screen wash in the resevoir. What i want to know is How easy is it to access and remove the resevoir to drain it fully and give it a good clean out? I dont want to just fill it and squirt it all out as thats risking burning the motor out i guess. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, dave
  11. Anybody have any suggestions?
  12. Hi all. I fitted a scorpion middle and rear section to my is200 the other day however the sound is hardly any louder than standard, unless your driving through a tunnel then theres hardly any difference. I dont want to go stupidly loud as im 32 now not 18 but i would like it to be a bit louder, that was the main reason for changing exhaust. Even though the straight 6 sound great its all engine noise not exhaust. Does anybody know if i can get a straight through middle section to do away with the extra silencer? If so how much would i be looking to pay?
  13. Good morning boys and girls. As the title says, ive got a squeeky clutch. Its not the peddle as u can definitely hear it louder outside than inside. Ive had a look under the bonnet and under the car while my mate pressed the peddle but could not see anything moving. Is there a cure? Anybody had this before?
  14. Ive got a sony 55w x4 mp3 player up front (single disc) with sub out, 800w amp and 600w 15" sub in a sealed box. I know the setup is good as ive had it in my other cars but none of them had the solid wall behind the rear seats. Had an E36 bmw which was pretty solid at the back end but not quite as much as the lexus.
  15. All is good now. Had the broken one replaced and they torqued them correctly for me. I drove that day but didnt go mad as i wasnt sure if the wheel would hold up on only 4 studs, stuck to the back roads instead of the motorway so couldnt just forget about it and drive at 70mph lol.
  16. Excellent, thanks for the reply. I know it may sound silly but is it ok to drive with only 4 out of 5 studs for a day? Need to get to the lexus dealer tomorrow (approx 18miles) and also work tomorrow night (another 5miles) then back home (17miles). Obviously i wouldnt be doing 70mph down the motorway but still thought i'd ask.
  17. Hi guys. After cleaning my front caliper pistons this morning i managed to snap a stud on the O/S front wheel when tightening the nuts :duh: . I know what your all thinking, that i over tightened it, well yes and no , one was seized on the other day so took it to the garage where i had my tyres fitted and they whipped it off (the wheel nut). The guy said to squirt a touch of WD40 in to clean the thread which i did this morning but in doing so it kinda snapped when doing it up. Spoken to lexus birmingham just and they supply a new stud for a whopping £2.49p. Local garage where me and my family have work done said they will swap it over for approx £20. Is that a reasonable price? Im guessing its only a case of tapping the old/broken one out and knocking the new one in...... Anybody had this problem before on their IS200?
  18. Next question, whats the best way to clean my engine? Is it as simple as using a jet wash? Obviously not squirting the sensors/switches etc..
  19. Well i finally fitted it this morning. What do you think? Ignore the dirty engine bay lol, i will do that once ive fitted a cold air feed. Didnt get chance this morning as it was chucking it down by the time i finished assembling the filter/pipe. Not as loud as i was expecting but if i remember correctly on my last car it did get a touch louder when it was sucking nice cold air in, still has a nice sound to it though. Only managed one scraped knuckle too ha ha.
  20. thanks mate, 1x metre of alloy tube, 1x 90 degree silicone elbow and 1x 45 degree slicone elbow came to a total of £41 and a few pence including delivery. this is the seller i used Ebay shop delivery took i think 2 days which i was impressed with. i got a pipercross filter for an amazing price of £12.50 including postage, brand new!! cant wait for monday now, im like a kid with a new toy lol
  21. obviously need to cut down the 90degree elbow a touch as i think it will foul on the underside of the bonnet. this picture only shows upto the 45 degree elbow, theres another piece of alloy tube still to be added but just need to get back home to measure up with the filter in place 1st. will defo upload a pic or two when fitted. i know theres no real power gain but i miss the induction sound from my old V6 so surely a straight 6 will give a nice sound too. fingers crossed eh....
  22. Not fitted it yet, my filter only came today but im in doncaster till prob monday morning so wont be back home in the midlands till lunchtime. i remember someone saying that you can just cut a hole, put the sensor in and seal it if it wont stay in. but i will cross that bridge when i get home. ok thanks ill take a look now on uploading photos, everytime i click the button it asks for a URL lol
  23. So where would you suggest then if not behind the hatch? on the side of the boot facing the other side? Or facing the rear of the boot so as to fill the boot with bass that way? Ive never had a problem with bass before but with the lexus having a sheet of steel behind the rear seat then this is creating a slight problem. What would you suggest as a sub size, 10" 12" 15" 18".....
  24. I bought a 1 metre length of alloy tube (63mm external dia), a 90degree silicon elbow (63mm internal dia) and a 45 degree silicone elbow (63mm internal dia). Mine will be going the other route to ormi's above. It wont go over the manifolds as they get extremely hot. I believe ormi has now upgraded to a supercharger which im not jealous of in the slightest, honest :shutit: :shutit: lol. I would love to follow suit with that but for now funds dont allow ha ha. My pipe will be going where the shiny cover is on ormi's photo and then bending to behind the o/s headlight. I took a photo of my pipe part built but dont have a photo of the complete pipe yet. I am just trying to figure out how to upload a picture.
  25. May sound a daft idea but could you not just put a sticker over the switch to hide it? As the saying goes "out of sight, out of mind". At least that way its not a permanent fixture and if you wanted to access it you could easily. Also if your littlun did attempt to flick the switch then you would physically be able to see. Hope that helps.
