  1. Dirty mass air flow sensor or loose intake tube can cause that when the engine isn't fully warmed up.
  2. Yes! I had forgotten about this, and forgotten to check with the dealer on mine, deffo done in the US and you have a sticker...I want one !!! The dealer had put the sticker showing that the recall/reflash had been done. You could have them check their computer for your car's history and see if it was done.
  3. yes it is adaptive. Its on the IS200/300 spec sheet on this website and also when top gear tested it they tell you about the adaptive tranny. im guessing just a ECU reset will reset the values? My wife doesnt drive the car much but when she does she complains about the auto box! i tried to explain its learnt my habbits! yes it is adaptive. Is there any information out there about how the tranny "learns" our driving habits? I'm very interested in the subject. What exactly does it "learn"? 4. Second gear is an overdrive of first. Many of the early IS300's were recalled for an ECU reflash to fix the hesitation. Most still show the hesitation as the OP described. My 02 had a sticker under the hood that stated the recall had been done.
  5. There are clear disclaimers in the owners manual about the sunglass holder. One in particular is that the glasses might melt if the car is parked in the sun.
  6. Cross posting what I put on the USA forum. You can go to this site and for $10 download and browse for 24 hrs. They have the service manuals and should have the part numbers. http://techinfo.lexus.com/
  7. Pardon my ignorance but that £34.5K converts to about 61.2K USD. I figure that car would cost between 35K and 40K USD in the US. I'm curious as to what adds so much to the price in the UK.
  8. you DISLIKE the wood? what would you rather see? ← Cars should be made with metal, rubber and plastic. Wood went out with buggy whips.
  9. It's a saloon car not a hatch ← Saloons are for drinking. Plenty sedans have folding rear seats.
  10. We could compare RPM at a certain speed in top gear. That would tell us about the overall gearing.
  11. What light is it that you call rear fog lights?
  12. It appears to me that the ECT makes the slippage, delay, or whatever it is in the 1 to 2 shift worse. I seem to get the best runs with the E shift engaged and just letting the transmission shift itself. (my 2002 has had the ECU reflash, by the way).
  13. Putting regs on pollution, which reduced gas mileage, then turning around right away and imposing mileage standards was a really dumb move by the governments. That put a lot more money into the price of cars for sure.
