  1. Right, so you have some aftermarket speakers. The quality and success will come from the install. All ou need is a pair of 18mm mdf rings in the same diameter as the speakers you have (more than likely 17cm) from eBay. Screw the rings onto the door skin, with the screws flush into the wood. Then mount the speakers onto the ring with short self tappers. Don't believe the hype about how good the OE speakers are...they are inferior. Hope this helps, Jason.
  2. Hey all. Good morning to you. I have recently decided that due to baby number 2 on the way, I want a more peaceful and relaxing driving environment. I absolutely love my Impreza, but luxury calls so it's being replaced. My question is is there much difference in consumption between the two. Also, apart from low speed, full lock knocks from the front suspension, and vibrating steering wheel etc, what in particular should I look out for? I do love my music (jazz, soul, some rock, some r n b and of course baby music) and the one I'm going for I think has Nav. Do I have to keep my oem stereo, or can I upgrade to a doule din unit with hands free and iPod connectivity? Finally, how much oil is required for a service, and what grade plugs do you use? Ay other tips as of 2013 will be helpful. I have read the forums, and am an old IS200 owner. Mileage doesn't bother me so long as I get a feel of care and attention from the seller. J
  3. Quick question...what year Corsa speaker bracket. Thanks. Jason.
  4. Is it just me or has the ECU been relocated?
  5. Hello. nbo acces to ebay from work but bi-xenons are H4 which you don't need. You need HB4 or 9006 bulb. Jason.
  6. Hi there. Sorry to bring up an old thread, but where was the ECU relocated to? I want to fit my intake on the passenger side, but it seems the ECU is in the way. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. J
  7. Ah man....just took of a perfectly good one and gave it away for free. :( sorry.
  8. Hello all. Well today I decided to start on part one of the sound system. I fitted the amp bypass loom, deleted the OEM amp and OEM head unit and removed the rather excellent Kenwood universal CD changer that the previous owner must have fitted after seeing the dreaded ERR3. Here goes it in pics. The Head unit Microphone iPod remote The sound is good and a bit bassy, but the stock speakers have to go. Part two will be to install my InPhase 4 channel amp under the passenger seat, and run the new OFC cables through the doors to the new components. I will then run another pair of speaker wires to the rear to power a new pair of 6 x 9's mounted on 12mm MDF spacers. With budget and everything in mind, I'm thinking JBL but only time will tell after a chat with Colin at Car Audio Direct. Tomorrow, I'm taking her to the workshop for an oil and filter change. I did not buy an air filter as I plan to make my own towards the passenger side headlight and I will get some new plugs. Thanks for looking / reading. Jason.
  9. Hi Charl. I see you are in Kent. I'm based at Lakeside. Well, thing is I want matt black wheels so I have decided to paint the calipers shiny silver with black decals. That way one has to really look to notice and it will not stand out too much...almost OEM. I will keep you posted on the 6 x 9s buddy. I have seen some 12mm MDF spacers on eBay for both front and rear. I think you will get rid of the distortion by amping up your speakers for a less stressed system and cleaner sound. I just discovered an annoying rattle from the engine compartment at low speeds. sounds tinny. Will investigate and report. J
  10. Cheers mate. Usually I only have front speakers and they always run off an amp. After much reading today, I thought I will use my 4 ch amp for fronts, and with a spacer fit a new set of 6 x 9's. I swore to myself 5 years ago I would never use 6 x 9's but I guess this is a straight swap bar a spacer, so not 'chav'. Hopefully, the amped 6 x 9's would give me enough mid bass to not yearn for a sub. Time will tell. Thanks. J
  11. LOL yes indeed. I thought I would take advantage of the long weekend and ordered the stereo facia and amp bypass wiring kit from Car Audio Direct. Hopefully be delivered by thursday. Quick question, once my Pioneer HU is fitted with the bypass lead, will the rears be deleted or will they sound awful due to the difference in impedance. Hopefully next month I will order a 6.5 inch rear speaker conversion kit from US Ebay and install a pair of 6.5 coaxials, all powered by my 4ch amplifier. Coming along slowly but surely. Cheers. J
  12. Hey Daz, I thought so too when I got the car but it's just the bottle. :D Thanks Dave. :D
  13. Thanks Dave. I am happy soldering for installing Car Audio and ECU's but nothing as tiny as that. LOL. will give it a miss and maybe buy a spare set off ebay and have it properly done. Is there a link for the bulbs for the speedo then. J
  14. Thanks Mark. Dave, with the dash I will say baby steps. Will start with the lights similar to your pic, but will like to do the heater dials as well. I have a technical mind, but not very good with fiddly bits. Is it quite straight forward?
  15. Hey all, not sure how it works here but it the Celica forums most people have one thread where all their work etc is posted to less mess and easier to keep track. I thought i'd do the same here. Hope I don't break any rules. Here goes. Bought the car last week. Black IS200 Sport with high miles, but good service history and good paint etc. This is my daily driver but will evolve into something special hopefully. I have been known to turbo charge a car or two, and it might well be on the cards but that's later in life. Since I bought her, I have replaced the side lights, removed the tow bar and jet washed the engine bay. Next week I will do a service and replace the plugs with NGKs and paint the calipers. (unsure whether to go with black, blue or silver). Red is not an option. The CD player is not working so it has a standalone Kenwood CD changer through the radio, but I have plans for the audio later in the summer. Engine bay before after My mate tony helping with removing the tow bar The offending 15kg item general cleaning with Tony's EG6 Civic. He has a turbo EG as well. Mum's MB6 Civic VTi I would like to know once and for all if the Auto Leads facia will delete my traction control and heated seats switched. (read somewhere). Here are my plans for the car. Front strut bar Rear strut bar Replace bushes quick shift and TRD or GReddy Gear knob IS300 cat back system Gut out pre cats and leave the standard one in place lower 40mm 4300K HIDs tinted rear lights fit my Pioneer iPod / Bluetooth head unit front MB Quart components Rear coaxials 4 channel amp to run front and rear speakers with fresh wiring 2 channel amp for subwoofer general maintainance as and when they need doing change interior illumination lights to blue LEDs (I have NO idea how to do this) paint some engine and interior plastics silver, or black again. Please add any comments and advice. I have read through several threads over the last few weeks but would like to hear from people who have already done bits. Cheers. Jason.
  16. Hey mate. I remember you from CCUK. Like you I just got my IS. What are you after? Power or sound. You know you won't get power from intake alone, and fitting a badly designed conical item will yield heat soak without some form of shield. I saw on here someone who had a short ram version right behind the passenger side headlight. Personally I MIGHT fit a K&N panel filter and maybe do an air feed from the bumper ducted to it. Not sure yet...i'm in no rush. Jason.
  17. Oh Mike @ Cyclone? Yeah he is like a dad to me. lol. He builds minis. He has built a Ford V6 powered mini with twon turbos and Nitrous. Also a YB Cossie powered Mini doing 12 sec quarter mile without nitrous and standard boost. Next door there is a mini with a H22 Honda engine and turbo. HEre are some pics. J Have a look see here http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v714/jnortey/CycloneMotorsport/
  18. Thanks Parthiban. I have a US Import Pioneer Head Unit with iPod control, Bluetooth phone and CD Player etc. I only really listen to Radio 1 and LBC and I get those stations perfectly. Previous owner fitted a really good Kenwood standalone CD changer which works well, so no rush to upgrade. I know this situation has been covered to death, and I have read them all but here goes. I ALWAYS fun front speakers and sbwoofers off an amplifier. I always delete the rear speakers. Question is If I was to install the Autoleads wiring, do I have to do the amp bypass as well as run new cables for the fromt speakers from the amp, or tap into the existing wiring like I usually do. Also, I have TRC and heated seats, so which ebay fascia and spare cubby hole is best? Thanks so far....and here are pics of my new car and old cars. New... Previous. Banzai featured one-off home built Celica SR Turbo My G5 and the G7 The coupe Well so there it is. I can't wait to get stuck in. Jason.
  19. Ah great. Yeah good work there. The workshop I use for all my work and where I did my turbo conversion us Cyclone Motorsport at Unit 21 Andersons Yard. Appearance does not look great, but really good people there. J
  20. Hey all. I have read after searching for topics relating to the IS200's gearbox. Mine works well but I have a feeling it could be better. On all my celicas (Gen 6 Celica Turbo, Gen 5 GT and Gen 7) I have always fitted these...http://www.jap-spec-performance.co.uk/store/product_info.php?cPath=120_2_47_51&products_id=125 For £9 the make a HUGE improvement. However our cars are RWD and I don't know how to improve the feel. I do plan on fitting a quick shift kit but are there any bushes to be replaced? If there are can someone please post pics and sizes. If there is enough interest I know JSP and can arrange something of a Group Buy (If it is allowed by the moderators). Cheers people. J
