  1. thanks guys, this has kind of confirmed what I thought. My plan is to buy one next year as I have set myself a challenge of getting a lexus before I am 22! mainly as all the people I know my age drive around like complete fools in their Golf GTi GRX SRI STD Lowered to the floor with 57" alloys on and think that they look good! I flatly refuse to be grouped into that category and ride quality and quietness is of the absolute highest importance to me! Insurance cant be any more expensive as the car I drive now is IG 16 (Mazda Xedos 6 2.0 V6 Auto SE), and after I hit 21 at the end of the year my insurance drops like a stone! I cannot wait to get this car, lets hope that father christmas brings me a christmas bonus that allows it! Thanks again, any more comments would be very much appreciated on perhaps what to look for in the LS430 that might go wrong, I will be gettting the Premium version with Air suspension if possible, is this prone to failure at all? also, what is the Fuel economy in the 430 like? I have read up (lots) on all 3 cars (400, 430, 460) and it seems the larger the engine gets the better economy it gets?!? is this something to do with the newer technology being used, or is it just lies? I drive a 2.0 V6 Auto, and that only gets between 26 and 32 MPG, and I drive like a saint (no Really, I am very much a 'Passenger's' driver), so the idea of an engine more than twice the size returning 33 MPG on the motorway seems crazy?! Please let me know, And thanks again (for the third time)
  2. Ok, I know this has probably been ummed and aaahed at about 20 billion times now, but I still do not know the answer: Which is the better car, I am considering an ls430 and nearly settled with getting one when I suddenly read someone saying that the mark4 ls400 was the better car??? who do I believe, please help me here, my main concerns are ride quietness (really I am a crazy perfectionist when it comes to this) and reliability. I like the vented seats in the 430 but which is the quieter and more refined car? Please can someone (or many people) help with this as I simply am lost for choice!?!? Cheers
  3. Thanks Steve, I think the LS600hl uses a CVT gearbox, which are a little strange, I used one in the RX400h I tested and it was most likely just the car itself but I was not very keen. The main reason I was not a huge fan is that it was too small! - no really I am not kidding, the seat did not go back far enough inside to fit my legs comfortably! this I found quite amusing as the LS series can fit me much more comfortably (all the more reason to get one :winky:) The car I currently drive (Mazda Xedos 6) is an absolute dream at low speed - silent engine, smooth ride - but when you pass about 55MPH things get very noisy, not from the engine but from the wind and road. I live in central london so I am not worried about fuel economy (that sounds weird, but the only driving I do is up and down the Motorway twice a week!) so I am looking forward to something that will be as quiet and reliable as the Mazda (which we bought for just under £1k and so far, 12,000 miles later and 1 service, has had no problems, none!) which I think will be a good challenge! if anyone else has any tips I would be very pleased to read them, a wise man once told me "If I am ill, become an expert in your illness", well my illness is that I don't drive a Lexus!! So I am spending as much time as I can learning about them and what to look for when I get one (I did the same with the Mazda and it has served me very well!) thanks again!
  4. Hi Everyone! I am glad to join this place, I have my heart set on getting an LS430 next year and just wondered if anyone has a little advise? I will be looking for something under £10k, which seems to limit me to the pre-facelift model (2003+). I have heard that the pre-facelift gearbox is a little unsubtle with its changes and that the six speed is much smoother, the manager at Lexus Park Lane told me I would not notice a difference, but I am rather a perfectionist. is there anything I should be aware of? I would ideally like the car to last me about 5 years, so should I be looking for Low miles or highway-only miles? I am seriously excited about this, so much so that I have booked a Test drive in the LS600hL to see what the future of second hand cars has in store for me! Thanks in advance!
