  1. Thanks for the replies guys. Didn't mention that I'm in Cyprus (I swear I remember listing that in the profile on the left?) so no worries for under 7 degrees or snow Read about the Toyos/Dunlops on the forum but down here we mainly deal with Michelin and maybe Bridgestone at the shops especially with the 245s. I had a really tough time finding a Potenza 245/45 when I damaged the left rear. I believe these will not cost me more than the Primacy HP. As I said above I thought of going for the Toyos but I think it's more practical to go for a brand that I know I can find a certain replacement. You've made me wanna check again for the Toyos now Money set aside, do you find the Michelin SS better than the Toyo? Thanks again guys.
  2. Standard 225/45/17 & 245/45/17. My thoughts at first were Michelin Primacy HP & Bridgestone Potenza but then started looking at the Michelin Pilot 2 & 3 when I stumbled on the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Was wondering whether anyone tried these tires. Cheers, Anthos
  3. Thanks for the reply Northern. That's exactly the answer I got from Lexus. They will also need about 2 weeks :) Although understandable from their point of view, I can;t simply leave the car immobilized for 2 weeks. The wheel shop gave me the choice of CO2 welding another nut on top of mine with the risk of damaging the rims ): He also told me that I can pump some air in the tube and take it overthere so they can fix the tire and give me some breathing space to decide what to do. I have found this on ebay and the seller assured me it will work. I'm thinking of fixing the tire, order the above item and then remove all 4 security nuts and replace them with normal ones. Down here, nobody steals wheels. In the rare case of stealing, it's the whole car and my car is locked in my garage anyway...
  4. Thanks steve2006. The car is in my garage and I tried to put the spare on as I have somewhere to be tomorrow at 7:30, 50 kms away. The wheel shops do tend to use the air compressor tools to tighten the nuts so I guess you're right. I tried finding the part # at toyodiy.com but can't seem to find it. I guess it's my wife's Renault Scenic 1.6 for my trip tomorrow :) Thanks again.
  5. Had a flat tire and I tried to put the spare on. When I used some force to loosen the nut with the security locking bolt the bolt pentagon shape broke. It's Sunday and can't call any shop to see if they do carry universal removers. Do I have to get one from Lexus? If anyone has the part # I would be grateful. Thanks. Anthos
  6. Hey guys. I have this problem with my side mirrors. They keep losing their memory saved position whenever I switch off / on the engine. Also during the past week, when I put on the reverse the driver's side mirror does not dip. Did anyone else experience something like this? I did search the forum but couldn't find anything similar. Any help is appreciated. Anthos
  7. I was looking at this thread as well because since importing my car from UK, I never had the egr valve cleaned. Can someone confirm that there are 2 valves that need cleaning?? Thanks.
  8. Ok, forget the "UPDATE" part on the previous post. The earthing has not worked as I thought last night (it worked when I released the parking brake whilst the car was in the garage but it does not work when the car is moving). I will take the car to a car electrician to insert a new wire. I just hope the menu items re-appear
  9. Toshiba have launched a direct replacement for the Philips D4S lamps used in Lexus. The price is way cheaper than the German lamps. These are not cheap lamps made in China. I have bought a pair for about €75 :winky: I paid €20 for fitting them at a local car electrician which took them about 45 minutes for both lamps. If anyone is interested here is the LINK The store LINK PS I have replaced both xenon lamps and 2 weeks later everything is fine.
  10. all this trouble to earth the wrong side of the wire :tsktsk: :tsktsk: Consequences up to now include parking brake warning whilst driving, a warning on the "info" menu that a program is not functioning and half of the menu is gone, and there was no sound from the parking sensors in reverse Hope all this is sorted out when I earth the right side. Now I have the problem that the wire on the J50 is too short. I have 2 options: 1. I will try and strip the wire coming out of the harness and connect it with the rest making it longer. 2. Is there a way of "un-clipping" the short red wire from the harness and insert a new one? Can a car electrician do this in the worst case scenario where I cannot unclip it myself or manage to strip the wire (option 1)? Thanks for the help beneee. It's a relief knowing a "veteran" can help out ;) -----------------------UPDATE----------------------- The wire was indeed too short. I managed to strip as much as I could see and I took a connector like piece of metal out of another harness and pushed it in. When I saw that the red wire was inside the connector I soldered it. It was a LONG shot but it worked Never believed it would. Now I can watch the DVD menu even with the parking brake off. PROBLEM - As I said above some of the "info" menu items are gone I can see the "telephone", "screen setting", "display" and when I switch on the engine the "park assist" appears (and the rear parking sensors do work now). I'm missing "maintenace", "Calendar" etc. Also instead of getting the "insert dvd" I get a "a program cannot be read. Contact your sealer". Any clues guys?? Do I need to reset something? Any help is appreciated. Anthos
  11. Hi guys. I'm replying a year later to the thread but I got a small problem I followed the instructions (the vents were a pain in the a** - I had to stick something to hold the clips down eventually) and I located the red wire from the J50. I cut it and earthed it on the screw on the side (exactly like the pic - no other option actually since the wire is short). Now, not only I can't see a picture while the parking brake is off, the picture button is greyed out when the parking brake is on as well When the instructions say "cap off the loom side", what does this mean exactly? Since English is my second language I may not have understood exactly what it means. I just insulated the red wire coming out of the J50. Any help is appreciated. Anthos
  12. Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I couldn't find any posts. For about a couple of months now the memory settings (eg L1) for my side mirrors keep getting lost. I've tried setting the mirrors in all the modes and I do hear the beep when storing the settings. Any hints would be appreciated. Thanks.
  13. I'm about to buy the Grom USB and I'm planning to run the wire into the glove box and have the Grom unit hidden in there. I will check today if there is access.
  14. Hi guys, bought a used 220d SE-L (2006) recently from England and imported it in Cyprus (the prices over here are ridiculous for cars over 1.6 engines and the used car prices are really high). Having read a lot of posts on the forum (mainly on fuel consumption since I drive a distance of 60 mls of motorway + 10 mls of city traffic daily - first 2 days gave me 41 mpg) I decided to inquire the full service history from Lexus.co.uk. They told me to call Lexus Brighton because the car was bought and serviced there. I just gave them a call and they were very helpful but they said they couldn't print or export the full service history but instead I could ask them anythign I wanted. They told me that the car received everything that was required under its warranty until February 09 (last time it was serviced). I asked them about the 5th injector and the ECU remap and they told me both were carried out. I asked them for an email address so I could write down a list for things I wanted to know. Can you guys help me construct a list of the important things I should ask them? Any help is really appreciated. Thanks, Anthos
  15. Hi guys, glad to join the forum :) Got a 220d SE-L.
