Noticed what seemed to b a pool of oil under my car after footy before so got it home and inspected it. Just need to no if my assumption is right. When I looked under the bonnet it seems to be coming from a metal block attached to the side of the engine (left side when looking from the front of the car) which in turn has a tube going to the power steering fluid well. Would I be right in thinking the power steering pump is leaking?

As above really. Had mine year an a half now an the only thing I am having done tomorrow is the clutch which is general wear and tear like with any car.

Fog Lamps When It's Not Foggy
MorrIS200 replied to Enright's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
i am 22 and aspire to be rich successful and live in a rather large house with automatic gates, i currently live in a nice place and drive a lexus. i dress accordingly to where i am going, flash suit for the races (aintree races) jogging bottoms for lounging around, football kit for footy, jeans trianers hoodys, jumpers for every other day to day occurance, in my opinion the norm. . . . am i a chav .....no. its all about peoples opinions. My opinion of a chav is a baseball cap cheap tracksuit wearing ***** with a 10 year old clio/corsa/fiesta/punto/saxo with massive alloys a rediculous exhaust and spoilers bigger than the car itself. Is this right, probably not because to me anyone who is not from a city is in local terms known as a "wool" i live no more than 20 mins away from southport where the above mentioned description of a chav is norm to them and their opinion of me in my blacked out lexus am more than likely a chav or whatever. Where i am from most young lads dont mod their cars up. . . some lads my age are dealing drugs and driving round in volvo s40s audis bmws and yes lexus (although i am not a drug dealer) and these are seen as cool cars because of the status that comes with them, although to a girl walking past me in my car in town who was not from liverpool on a night out described my car as weird! its all about opinions! one last thing the bull**** about foglights being certain heights off the floor is absolute nonsense. i can say this knowing little about regulations and specifics because i know a lot about cars. Look at range rovers l200 warriors, land cruisers, X5s, Q7s, MLs and then compare to Is200s or even lower cars 911s M3s etc. . . they are different ride heights! so it is absolutley impossible to determine a fog light based on the distance away from the floor or whatever was stated before! Rant over! -
Car Insurance For New Drivers
MorrIS200 replied to Sterling's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
Sprinter that seems about right. i am 22 2 years no claims and am paying £1300 which is £200 dear than last year for no reason. I do however live in liverpool which is an expensive place to insure. as for mods i am unsure about this. i once had an accident(not my fault) in an astra i had mods: wolfrace alloys spoiler tints, smoked rear lights and bmc induction kit. i was paid out but on the insurance report it said "note alloys are WOLFRACE". i was still paid out for the wheel i just took the induction kit off. i think it depends on your insurance company and what came on the car as standard. my current IS has the multi spokes sport grill tints and a lip spoiler and if i was involved in an accident i would certainly not accept an insurance company fobbing me off because the wheels are not the 5 spokes or the grille is not a normal one because its still a standard lexus part and could have been fitted from dealership as an upgrade. i supose it depends on the mods. -
i have just put uniroyal rainsports on the back. OUTSTANDING!

Fog Lamps When It's Not Foggy
MorrIS200 replied to Enright's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
I will openly admit i use my fog lights WHEN it is foggy. Even if the fog is not that bad its an excuse to use them, yes i think they look good on, but i dont drive around with them on when its not foggy simple. i dont get that bothered withpeople who drive round with them on when its not foggy unless they are blinding me. As for DRL lights having to be a certain height off the ground, i am unsure beacuse i see ford c-maxs s-maxs, 911s, boxters, merc s classes and so on all having the DRL lights in or around the fog lights. in my opinion they are a waste of time some one cant see a car in broad day light really should not be on or near a road! one last rant although i am not from a council estate myself i find that first statement about the chavs driving back to their a bit stereotypical. If you actually look i would say a good percentage of the people driving around with their foglights on are middle aged or old people who have not took the time to look at their owners manual to see what the buttons or just have not noticed the light on in the dash! -

Opinions On Hid Kits.. 6000K? 8000K? 10000K?
MorrIS200 replied to Rez89's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
bit late but i got 6ks and have had them for about 8 motnhs. just ordered 10ks on monday nite just to try something diferent. all the talk of getting into trouble is silly as my mate had 15ks on his vectra and never got pulled once plus if yu look at som chrysler 300cs the colour of the headlights on them is around the 15k mark. best bet for anyone else thinking of getting these is to search for hb4(9006 kids on ebay instead of lexus as many places bump the price up because its a lexus. -

What Made You Buy An Is200?
MorrIS200 replied to Swampy300's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
I bought my lexus after having two Astras. I wanted something a bit more up market. It was between the Is200 and an 2.5 jag X-type sport. I atually tried to by the x-type but he had sold it the day before i had cleared my funds so i then went and found my Is200 and am pleased to say i have not looked back. Although i do see a jag now and then and think hmmm maybe next time. -
Do Lexus Turn Their Noses Up At Modded Cars?
MorrIS200 replied to Jimxms's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
I just had mine done by a friend of mine who is a mechanic at lexus an he changed the oil, diff oil new spark plugs, new filters as well as the belts -
The past few days i have been driving i have noticed my car acting oddly. for example when in 4th doing around 30mph if i put my foot down when i get to 40mph around 3000rpm the needle on the rpm dial seems to jump up an go back down almost like the car is double clutching giving a bit of a jolt (not really the word as it isnt as bad as a jolt more like hitting the powerband). It also dips in revs now n then in 3rd like it will stay on 3500rpm when driving jus for a split second then start driving normaly again. Could this be the clutch. It has jus had a complete service including timing belt sparks and oil etc from lexus Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated. Joe

Anyone Drive With The Trc Off On A Regular Basis?
MorrIS200 replied to Rez89's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
i tend to turn it off now and then it then ends up staying off for the rest of the journey then. But on the other hand i do like it on sometimes when its really wet -
I bought my lexus after owning two astras. Before anyone judges the astras the second was a 2001 1.8 coupe not a big engine but it had a close ratio gearbox which made it very nippy off the line....anyway i decided that i wanted something a bit more luxurious that is unusual. My first choice was a Jaguar X-type sport 2.5 awd. i went to view it but before i had the chance to get the funds together to buy it the guy sold it so then in a strop i went on autotrader and found the IS and i can honestly say I have never had a moments doubt. I like the way it looks, the noise it makes the gadgets it has and the reaction you get when you tell people you have a lexus. Might not seem that way for some of you guys but i am only 22 so people dont expect me to say it. The only downside is the petrol.....i always complain to people about it and say i'm thinking of getting rid....but i dont think i could because it just looks that good and the cars i really want to replace it i would need a few more grand to get haha

Sports Decal, Stickers, Vinyl & Badges Etc...
MorrIS200 replied to Ian Sartoria's topic in Modifications & Tuning
I am toying with the idea of removing/"debadging" the LEXUS and IS200 badges from the bak and just leaving the L but i want to see it first -
i agree . . . the car looks uch better with it on. base model or not should not matter as only people on here will know the difference between a "base model" and a sport model
