  1. Panic over. Maurice has appeared on what I think may be his white charger - called Paypal. Sorted. Not bad in a couple of hours. Thanks Maurice :winky: Rod
  2. Hi Peeps I have managed to scrape the lower bumper off my MkIV whilst reversing out of a tight spot and over a curb - there is more to the story that I don't care to share  So I am looking for a front bumper cover/lower skirt (the one that holds the fog lights and front number plate) for a Mk4? I have PM'd Maurice but the urgency has prompted me to also ask anyone here if they can help me to source said item. If you really want to make my prayers come true black would be good. ;) Cheers Rod
  3. Thanks Steve - another mystery solved Chris - the rear windows are tinted. The original owner had the tinted glass fitted and the premium 19 speaker Mark Levinson ICE as well as the Fox alloys. AND I often go out wearing black slacks and a black shirt B) B) B) AND one of the young girls who works in the office at my golf club has asked me if she can be one of my bitches - she had to explain this  AND I have been taking lessons to say YO! YOU DISSIN' MA WHEEEELS BRO? I'LL HAVE TO SET MY HOMMIES ON YOU! its a 'G' thing word out respect man   Rod
  4. Thanks guys Those thoughts confirm mine. No - I do not think that it has ever had air suspension but your reference to the location of the headlight leveling thingy behind the rear wheel sounds the most probable so far Beavis. Pimpmobile B) B) B) B) Here it is The Acre I have had to change my image from grumpy old man to Pimpman. Rod
  5. The pimpmobile passed its MOT today. Not really surprising as it has only done 1530 miles since the last one. But there is an advisory which states "Suspension Level Valve broken" which is baffling me. The mechanic was busy on another job when I asked the garage to explain. As far as I am aware my car does not have self leveling suspension and this advisory is a mystery. Thanks Rod
  6. OK Guys I am in process of buying a house which has an old garage where I will be able to keep my baby safe. B) The garage is 22’deep and 11’6 wide inside BUT it has a sectional electric door fitting to a 7’0 wide opening which my car won’t go through. So I need to purchase a wider door, preferably 9’0” to 10’0” (2743mm to 3m) wide and preferably one which will work with the existing opener – the 850 model shown on this Easygates site. http://www.easygates.co.uk/motorlift-garage-openers.asp Has anyone here got any advice about where to get a suitable garage door? My neighbour has offered to do all necessary brickwork and put in any necessary lintel. It has to be a sectional door as the garage butts onto the pavement. PS - There is a 3.5" x 2" blanking plate just above the handbrake (sic) release lever which I believe covers an open pocket for the garage remote. Can someone advise that if I prize this cover off there is definitely a recess behind it. I should hate to end up with a hole in the facia Thanks Rod
  7. Hi Lewis My steering wheel function stopped working 'on the key' quite suddenly over a year ago and after a lot of fiddling about I discovered that it, and some problems with the immobiliser not setting were simply a 'heads up' that the main battery was on the blink. An overnight battery charge restored everything to normal. Of course it may not be the battery in your case but I thought I would share my experience as it might save you an awful lot of time. :winky: Rod
  8. Hi Andy Not sure how I would identify the photochromatic glass. If it helps there are various numbers stamped on the base:- III E6 inside a circle next to 019243 Then e6 inside a rectangle followed by 02*9243 Hope this helps. Drop me a PM if you are interested. Rod
  9. You are right Mark I bought the power folding door mirror which is reputed to come off a circa 1994 LS400 for under £30 plus £10 p+p but whilst it looked the same as my Mk4 it is actually quite different. On the bright side, my bodyman has an apprentice who spends his spare time as a chav messing about with cars and he has brought my existing mirror back to life. So - does anyone want the mirror I just bought? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310282361752&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT Rod
  10. Thanks Steve Top advice as we have come to expect from you :winky: Regards Rod
  11. OK you parts geru's - I have been offered a power folding door mirror which is reputed to come off a circa 1994 LS400. I thought that the power folding option was only offered on the Mk4. If I am wrong, all I can say is that the picture of the one I have been offered looks remarkably like the one on my Mk4. In any event, do you think that the internal mechanical bits would swap over to my mirror? Thanks in anticipation Rod
  12. :tomato: Super fast reply from Maurice - thanks for that. He has a Mk3 door mirror which, needless to say with this wonderful machine of ours is quite different to the Mk4. Rod
  13. Cheers Malc I knew there was someone but my search skills are a bit limited. I will PM Maurice :winky: Rod
  14. Hi Guys Went to collect my Mk4 LS400 from my bodyman who had sprayed the whole of the near side where some retard had keyed it just before Christmas. Whilst he had it I asked him to respray the door mirrors which had become 'mottled' and also the o/s corner of the back bumper where some delightful young thing had dinged it with her tank and buggered off. All in all £820 for cash - it would have been a lot more with insurers involved. Trouble is that when he took the door mirrors off, something inside broke on the nearside one and he is beside himself with embarassed depite me saying that these things happen. So what I need is the squarish plastic plate that sits behind the actual mirror - or any of the guts that I can find. Needless to say the resprayed outer casing is perfect. Just to remind you - it is the nearside door mirror - LS400 Mk4 - 1998 Any help would be appreciated - especially by my bodyman Cheers Rod
  15. Well might you say that Dave. Some retard keyed my LS400 from headlight to bootlid the other night. :tsktsk: £700 for cash or a lot more if done through insurance. ...Bah humbug Rod
  16. Mine is the same hydrostat. I have to unlock the doors to disarm the alarm before pressing the boot button. Sorry I can't help solve your problem Lewis :duh: Rod
  17. Try reading this :winky: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=63063&st=0&p=693577&fromsearch=1entry693577 :D Rod
  18. Thanks again Alex - I'm a bit dissapointed that is all it does. I do miss the audio controls that the Scorpio had on the steering binnacle - but on the positive side I still like to watch the aerial going up and down as I switch the radio on and off in traffic – just to impress the driver behind. B) B) Why is it that they always look the other way when I do this? Rod
  19. Watch your language there David :winky: Actually mine does not work either but I have convinced myself that a quiet flash is more subtle than beeps that are guaranteed to get the neighbours thinking that I am the driver of a different type of foreign car I await the replies about the function button with the same interest as you. :) Rod
  20. No Steve - it's The Gap at Muston - on the Grantham side of Bottesford. I'll add the pollen filter to my ever growing list when I get it serviced. Thanks Rod
  21. Thanks Runbly :winky: Milton Keynes is 90 miles away. My proposed venue is 4 miles up the road between Grantham and Nottingham and with quite a number of members here under an hours drive away, I will try and see the landlord in the next week or so to see if he will have us before I post it here. :) Rod
  22. Thanks guys I just knew that this would be quicker than reading the manual again :winky: I'll set the A/C on as suggested and also check for internal dampness over the weekend. I'm getting my rear bumper mended and sprayed next week - a nice £250 christmas pressie from a hit and run motorist - and I will ask the bodyshop to redo the seals around the boot lid and the drivers door whilst they have the car. Then the next thing will be that I need to think about a major service, including the timing belts :shutit: Rod PS - Can someone PM me about how I promote a meet on here without upsetting the admin. I've got a cracking country pub with several private back rooms and a massive car park in mind but before I ask the landlord I though I ought to ask here first. Rod
  23. I'm sure the thought was there Jim :winky: Have another go mate :) Rod
  24. Can someone please save me a lot of time and ‘eyes off the road’ fiddling with my heater/air con settings. Quite regularly and presumably because of the weather conditions, my screens and side windows steam up as I am driving along. One moment everything is fine but within 5 seconds my vision can suddenly be seriously impaired. Reaching over to operate the top screen button fires up the heater fans but it still takes up to 15 seconds to clear the condensation. I suspect that my setting for the heater and the three position air con button on my Mk IV are not as they should be but I would rather ask for the solution here than have to admit what I was doing on an accident report form. :iraqi-info-minister: And – before anyone asks – Yes – it happens most when the Lady Friend is in the car but not for the reasons you might suggest – well not in the winter anyway. :winky: Thanks :) Rod
