    Wanted Is220d

Hi all, I am scouring the market to get my hands on an IS 220d, pref a Sport variant, Mileage isnt really a concern as long as it is under 100k. I seem to find that the trade in prices given by dealers is significantly lower than what they are selling them on for. So...If you are trading in your 220, please let me know and I might be able to give you more than the dealer will!!! I only want 1 :P as im not a dealer, and please only offer it to me if you know its a good one, as there is a lot of hit and miss with the 220ds in general. £9000 is my absolute top budget and I know what it is i want from each price range. Please let me know as I have the funds available thanks
  2. Let us know if it works with more than a handful of tracks :) Hopefully it will, but i always thought there was a restriction to the number of tracks the system would recognise. Also, look around for the software, you might get it cheaper or possibly free :o
  3. I think you should speak to citizens advice or a Lawyer and see what their stance is. If it can be proven that it was down to a failure recall and you havent already sought financial recompense, then you might have a case....im assuming this is the "thought" you were after. But as above....you should be happy you are alive :D
  4. Im still looking for a 220d myself, so if you do come to sell then let me know what you want for it :) Im sure id give you more than trade in, but cant afford the dealer prices :S
  5. blackcircles are doing a price beating service so might be worth calling them. 08456202000. Just give them the make and company you can get them from and they will try to beat it. As mentioned above do some searching online, you are gauranteed to get a better price, plus they alot of them will come to you, so you can get it done in your works carpark etc
  6. Hi mick77, as above i didnt think the normal IS250's had CVT transmission, it might be possible if its a hybrid as this is common in the Lexus Hybrid cars. Why are you switching to the 250? Are you looking for a newer model or too many issues with your 220?
  7. Hi Propwash You should be able to ring Lexus directly, give them your registration and they will advise if all the recalls have been carried out
  8. Thanks for response Moonpig. Did you buy yours new or second hand? If second hand was it high mileage etc? I wont be buying new, im probably going to aim for an ex-lease car. I am gambling on most issues(squeeks etc) would have been sorted prior to me getting it. As you say, as its a Lexus people expect these things to be right, hopefully the previous owner of the car I buy would have the same attitude
  9. Bump... There must be some 220d Sport owners that use these forums that can give some informed decisions??? Do you have any dead spots in the gears? At what speed can 6th gear be used? Everyone seems to be comparing the Lexus to the beamers due to sweeter engines etc but possibly the Sport model will compare better? Just a thought? I know its only the gear ratio thats been changed with stiffer suspension and bigger wheels, but how does this compare the the 320d. 2 things i do know... 1) Much better looking car than the beamer 2) Nowhere near as common thoughts?
  10. Did you have the same issue with your toyota? How does the MPG compare and what type of driving have you been doing to get the 35.5 mpg? I belive the Lexus uses the same 2.2 litre diesel thats used in the Avensis D4D model
  11. Cheers for the response. Its good to hear some good news stories for the car. Do you notice any issues in first gear or gear changing? I agree that the rear parking sensors is a must, the camera would be fantastic. My budget is tight so I am just gonna have to sit it out and wait for theright one to come along. Out of curiosity how many miles has yours done? Some have said the car gets worst once the miles get over 30k? The car I buy will have more than this to start with and i intend to keep it for atleast 5 years
  12. thanks for the reply Parthiban I intend to test drive both, if I can find a 220d sport to test drive, they are a lot rarer than the standard 220d I assume the rattles apply to all IS? Any actual owners of the 220d sport that can advise?
  13. Hi, looking to buy a 2006/2007 lexus IS. Due to running costs/insurance etc im plumming for a diesel. (i hear many of you scream :tsktsk: noooooo :tsktsk: ) I have never driven a diesel before, only petrol motors. My current being a W reg Honda Accord 2.0l Is the Sport variant of the IS significantly better? I so far, have not been able to test one. The feedback on this site seems to favour it more than the standard IS diesel. Although i havent read many comments on the sport variant. Does this mean it is actually pretty good? I know many of you prefer the IS250 but as mentioned above the insurance and tax cost alone push it out of my pricing, yet alone the purchase price of it. The sport models tend to be more expensive so my choice would basically be either an SE-L with MM or a Sport I will be keeping this car for atleast 3-4 yrs so need as best an informed decision as i can get, as I am not in an overly healthy financial position. (Hence the W reg accord with 135 k on clock) thanks in advance for the helpful comments
  14. Hi, thanks for the response. Yes i am expecting a few dont buy its :D I cant afford a beamer for initial cost and maintenance reasons. I dont want a ford either. My current car is a 2000 W reg Honda Accord executive. So i want, what i class as an upgrade! The Lexus is brilliantly specced and has all the bells and whistles my accord does, and then some. I also wanted something that was different to everything else you see. I considered the accord ctdi but i just dont like how it looks. the lexus however looks really nice and isnt too big either. (my partner doesnt want a big car :P
  15. Hi all I am a new member to the forums, but have been reading through them for some time now I know how annoying it is when people post questions that have been posted before so my apologies if this has already cropped up! As the title suggests I have decided to purchase a second hand Lexus IS 220d. I have done a lot of research and it seems to be a love or hate vehicle. I can only afford a medium-high mileage 2006 (55/06/56) model. Couple of things then. I cant find an actual spec sheet for the model varients i.e SE, SE-L, SE-I, also the mutimedia from what i can seems to be an option on any of the models i have mentioned. Does anyone know where I can get access to these? For those that have had to service one outside the warranty how have the servicing costs been? Any ideas on what it costs for basics such as brakes etc? Finally, is there anything I should look out for before I buy one. I know about the fuel economy issues on some, but anything else i should pay cloase attention to? any help would be mucho mucho appreciated
